Oh, cool :D

I do NOT like the sound of "extend package."

It could be the DX version extra stuff: the Master System/Game Gear games (probably not) and that mission mode which wasn't particularly good. Then again, I don't think anybody would complain if it turned out to be Amy and Big's story modes :lol

i want:
-crazy taxi 1 and 2 with online leaderboards and ghost download
-sonic adventure 1 and 2
-jet set radio
-zombie revenge
-shenmue 1 + 2 (maybe as episodes?)
-grandia 2

Seems like Darwinia + is coming soon. The title will show up if you browse arcade games, thought only the trailer is available thus far.

Puzzle Role for Konami
Puzzle Chronicles casts spell on PSP™, Nintendo DS and as
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced it will release Puzzle Chronicles for PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) and Nintendo DS on February 18th, with download editions for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION®3 to follow shortly after.

Developed by respected puzzle game creators, Infinite Interactive, Puzzle Chronicles mixes colour-matching puzzles with role-playing themes and plotlines, allowing users to enhance their character by succeeding in various puzzle challenges and defeating the many opponent forces that confront them during the course of the adventure.

Puzzle Chronicles is set in the savage wastelands of the Asharin Empire. A despotic King has seized your countrymen and their kidnapping must be avenged. To topple the corrupt monarch, players must build their character into a great warrior capable of overthrowing the empire via a series of brain-twisting puzzle combat challenges.

The main game screen is split into two, distinct areas with a swathe of coloured gems dropping into the player’s side of the screen, and that of their challenger. As like-coloured gems are activated, they are removed from play unleashing specific spells and physical attacks on the opponent, or unlocking items for use in the quest. Each adversary, however, has specific skills and magic or combat attributes, which force the player to vary their game accordingly.

A battle is won when the opposing player’s energy is completely depleted, and the victor is then rewarded with experience points and key skills. Using these, players can enhance their character with new weaponry and better armour necessary to take on the game’s bigger foes, and raising and training pets to fight alongside you. Tips on the whereabouts of treasures and unique items can also be found by defeating key rivals, and will prove useful later in the game.

Puzzle Chronicles also adds a series of sub-levels and side quests for the player to explore, with dungeons to be explored and looted, and a wealth of special magical items to be collected. This adds to the game’s replay value immensely,

Puzzle Chronicles will be available for PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) and Nintendo DS on February 18th, with DLC versions for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION®3 following shortly after.

They should just release like all DC games ever as physical copies in the style of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. That'd be the tits. My harddrive is getting crowded so even though I would love some DC games on XBLA, I'd prefer physical releases too.

And here is the PR:

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The EA Play Label of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced that it is bringing Hasbro's (NYSE:HAS) globally popular strategy game, RISK, to Xbox LIVE ® Arcade (XBLA) in early 2010. Featuring outlandish factions, a unique art style, new gameplay twists and off-beat humor, RISK: Factions promises to challenge and captivate both new and seasoned RISK fans on their quest for world domination.

"For the past half-century, millions of RISK fans have been consumed with ruling the world, underscoring the board game's enduring appeal," said Chip Lange, Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA's Hasbro Division. "We're now going to bring that masterpiece experience to life and add other amazing layers of XBLA-style gameplay that will take conquests to a new level, including the ability to battle players from around the globe for the first time, truly giving new meaning to the phrase ‘world domination'."

Developed by Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers studio Stainless Games and featuring cinematics from veteran animation studio Power House Animation, RISK: Factions will offer innovative ways of experiencing the timeless turn-based board game in both objective-based and world conquest modes. Players will be able to engage as one of five playable factions, each with different strengths, as they wage war on new maps with dynamic terrain in their quest for missile silos in order to strategically dominate the game. Additionally, as rivals go head-to-head during unique, animated combat missions, enemies will be able to trigger "Overkill" moments, based on the roll of the dice, and unlock avatar awards while attempting global supremacy. With a new animated art style, kooky humor and a choice of five oddball factions, RISK: Factions is sure to offer something for veteran RISK strategists and newcomers alike.

"Just as the original RISK board game broke new ground 50 years ago by being the first game to offer non-linear movement, EA is re-inventing this long-time favorite for today's digital consumer," said Mark Blecher, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Digital Media and Gaming at Hasbro. "We expect RISK: Factions to be well received on XBLA among the strategy and simulation community."

January 14, 2010 - 2K Play announced today that The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom will be available on February 17, 2010 exclusively on Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system from Microsoft for 800 Microsoft Points. Set in a macabre and comical silent film era backdrop, The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom tells the story of the buttwitt villain P.B. Winterbottom, and his ravenous quest to devour every flakey crust of delicious pie he can swipe. Players take on the game's movie-level "shorts" in the most ingenious way possible to attain the highest score while stacking, smacking, and riding through time.

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom comes fresh from the imaginative ovens of video game "bakers" The Odd Gentlemen and commences just after the portly P.B. Winterbottom swipes a mouth-watering bite of the mysterious Chronoberry Pie. That first scrumptious morsel unsuspectingly gives him the ability to break the rules of time and replicate himself at will, by recording himself and harnessing time-bending abilities to cooperate, compete against, and disrupt his past, present and future selves. These amazing abilities, like fresh ingredients mixed with a mental prowess for problem sleuthing, make The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom the tastiest Xbox LIVE Arcade game of 2010.

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom will be available on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 on February 17, 2010.

Monday Night Combat announced for XBLA

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/15/monday-night-combat-announced-for-xbla/

Uber Entertainment has announced a brand-spankin' new Xbox Live Arcade title by the name of Monday Night Combat. Just what is Monday Night Combat, you ask? Paraphrasing our own JC Fletcher, it looks a bit like Team Fortress 2 ... if Team Fortress 2 were a game show. Presented as a game show and "sport of the future," Monday Night Combat is a class-based third-person shooter, in which teams compete for "the real American dream: cash, fame and endorsements."

The game sports six different character classes, a create-a-class feature and two gameplay modes, the co-operative Blitz mode and the competitive Crossfire mode. This one really came out of nowhere, but if it's anywhere near as good as the trailer makes it out to be, we could be in for a real treat. Expect it to arrive later this year.

Hey guys, since I'm loving Omega5 (vlttp I know) is there anything similar (not only in playstyle, since I also love vertical and dualsticks shooters, but also as far as production values go) on Live Arcade already out/coming out?

Also, am I missing something or Omega 5 keeps your highscores only when you're online while playing it? At the end of any match I'm asked to upload my score to the leaderboards, and if I'm not online that it just "fail to connect" without showing me the score or where to see my previous ones. Hopefully I'm wrong, because that sucks balls.

The fuck they do to my Risk? They can suck my balls.

Really? It sounds like they're adding some character to the game. We get "Factions" instead of simply colours. We get the updated rule-set, a single-player campaign and more re-play / versatility than the original vanilla Risk.

I say "Thank-you" very much for that.

Risk is a good board game, but I have *no* problem with them adding new layers. I'm sure you'll be able to play the stock 50-year-old risk if you wish.

Omega5 is a severely underrated little gem, and I wouldn't mind more horizontal shooters like it. As for your question, have you played Ikaruga on XBLA? One of the best shooters ever packaged as an excellent port.

And add me to the Risk lovefest. Can't wait.

If you're looking for more sidescrolling shooters, grab R-Type Dimensions. R-Type 1 and 2 with a graphical upgrade. If you have a PS3 you can get Soldner-X too.

Upcoming shooters are pretty slim, hopefully the Game Room will have an abundance of them once they get into the 80's Capcom and Konami / Hudson era. In terms of top down shooters there's KOF SkyStage - shooter using King Of Fighters characters :lol

picked up Groove (xbla indie game) for 80 points last night

so amazing, obviously could be better, but the premise is very nice, do yourself a favor and pick this up
