Official Xbox Live Arcade Thread

I remember reading in one of Hello's blog that they had a 360 build running before they got a deal with Sony. They made it sound like MS wasn't interested in the title (dummies!)

Shadow Complex 2 although there still seems to be something lacking perhaps.
It better be! I've been craving some more Shadow Complex the past few weeks. It troubles me that there has been no talk of a sequel lately, since I am sincerely hoping there will be an announcement at E3. The event will no doubt be great this year, but I will be disappointed if Shadow Complex 2 is a no-show.

Oops. Didn't see that thread when I posted...

Oh, not a problem at all. More exposure, the better! I was just waiting to see if anyone else was going to update on the info, and after seeing no one else... it was funny to see both post around the same time.

I really hate watching info on SNKP games get lost by the wayside... new people have been informed of EWJ thanks to the Majors blog post for days, but the SNKP classic gets no bonus hype from the same post... -sigh-

Where the hell is that perspective shifting 2.5d platformer that they were showing off like 2 years ago>?

Joe Danger developer Hello Games has said that it may consider porting its PlayStation 3 title to other formats, including Xbox 360, but it would have been humanly impossible to get the game out on multiple platforms initially.

"It does run on 360. I shouldn't say that, but it does,"

Good to know.

Fez.
Hopefully it's part of Summer of Arcade.

Space Invaders: Infinity Gene Evolving To Consoles

http://www.siliconera.com/2010/06/08/space-invaders-infinity-gene-evolving-to-consoles/

Space Invaders: Infinity Gene, Taito’s latest evolution of Space Invaders, started life as a Japan-only cell phone game. Then Taito brought it to the iPhone. Consoles are up next.

Famitsu confirmed what Australia’s Classification Board leaked, a console version of Space Invaders: Infinity Gene is in the cards. The game appears in the table of contents of this week’s issue as a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game. We’re guessing a bit here, but this is probably a downloadable game. Unless Taito give it a major overhaul, we can’t imagine a $4.99 being sold in stores.

I don't want to be rude Matthew but your game has nothing to do on the XBLA.

No matter how fun it is, the graphics look amateurish and you should release it on the Indie service whenever it's ready.

What? It looks fine to me. And Indy's aren't available everywhere (like here) so I hope it's XBLA so I can try it out.

I have the same opinion.

XBLA / Indie games: high production values / low production values

If you were rigth indie games should be plagued with boring games and that's not the case.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here or if I agree with it or not.

That's all sorts of ridiculous. If he can find a publisher who believes the game can sell on the strength of its gameplay (what a preposterous proposition!), then more power to him. Some of the best-selling XBLA games don't have much in the way of production values.

This can't be serious.
IIRC There are indie games published by well known companies so you are wrong my friend.

It does run because they had it running as it once was a multiplat or timed exclusive for Sony. It's completely exclusive now. Do yourself a favor and go to the Joe Danger OT, it's truly going to be one of those must haves for the reccomendation threads. Arguably the best DL game this gen. 4 people made it but you would think a team of 15-20 worked on it.

And Hard Corps looks really nice too.

As much as I want a Shadow Complex 2, I highly doubt its going to be mentioned this summer. I thought Chair was a small group, and the year turn around time might be too much. I am surprised that they never had any download content for it, so maybe they went right to the sequel. But I think next summer is more realistic.

OH FORGIVE OUR IGNORANCE AND PROVIDE US WITH YOUR WISDOM.

So silly of him to say that there are high selling Xbox Live Arcade games with low production costs when there are also Indie games by well-known companies! Oh my God!

Well the first game was developed in 1½ years so 1 year for the sequel might not be that far fetched considering they have all the basic gameplay elements ready this time.

Let me in on it too :P

I'm only going with info I have. OBVIOUSLY it would be great if this came to multiple platforms but at the same time the guys need support so if you have a PS3 then this should be an instant buy right now. Unless things change the "PSN Exclusive" brandin on the game in the US store usually means a total exclusive but I really don't know if they could just do that to show that it's exclusice for quite a bit of time. I've never seen a "PSN Exclusive" tagged game go back from that status though. Merely letting you know what I see on the storefront. Don't comb through my words like Eminem lyrics :)

No, I won't discuss that here. You can read mine and many others enthusiasm in OT. You expect me to backtrack or something and feel guilty for reccomending an awesome game?

If you have both platforms there's no reason to wait for Joe Danger on XBLA. If you have no intention of owning a PS3 then there looks like there is some small hope that it could land on XBLA after the exclusivity contract is up. I'm not sure why this is so complicated.

I'm even sure why LiquidMetal14 is posting in here; this is not a Sony thread. I have not yet played Joe Danger though I plan to grab it within the next couple weeks. So I'll gladly eat crow down the line if I'm wrong, but for now, seeing "[Joe Danger is] the best DL game this gen" in the XBLA thread of all places, less than 24 hours after its release is laughable.

Merely to comment on Joe's exclusiveness. It's rather vague at the moment but I've explained what I've seen in the last post. I have posted in other 360 threads, is it a crime to do so? At least you didn't call me a fanboy. I've said about all that is relevant to Joe. If it comes out on XBLA one day I will likely double dip.

XBLA: Space Ark To Be Released Next Week

http://www.xboxic.com/news/6186

Strawdog Studios, an independent multi-platform game developer, is gearing up for the much anticipated release of its classically addictive Arcade game, Space Ark for the Xbox LIVE Arcade on Wednesday 16th June.

With your crack team of animal ‘arkonauts’, you have escaped your once peaceful solar system, which has been shattered by a wandering black hole, and are now looking for new places to live. With a trail of damaged planets left in the black hole’s wake, the space travelling animals board the Space Ark and fly across the galaxy on a mission to repair the damaged worlds. At each planet your arkonauts must bounce in the air and bag DNA combos, power-ups and all the fruit they can catch so ultimately inhabitants can return!

A fun homage to the bright and bouncy arcade games of the late 1980s such as Rainbow Island, Bubble Bobble and Arkanoid, Space Ark is an addictive, original arcade action game which appeals to both casual and hardcore gamers alike with its laid-back, stress free gameplay, and its addictive gem collection element.

Space Ark has been priced at 800 MS Points.

I guess all the excitement about Joe Danger can't be contained in one thread.

Monday Night Combat is looking like a strong contender for Summer of XBLA. It's an MS published title that's been getting a lot of exposure lately.

Forget the dumb bike game shilling, I can't wrap my mind around this. What purpose can telling a person whether or not a game is exclusive to a store from inside the store achieve? Or more to the point, why would anyone actively draw attention to the fact a title can be found elsewhere through lack of such branding.

New to GAF? Labeling something as exclusive to Sony platform gives a game GOD-LIKE status here.

Sony knows what they're doing.

Square Enix and feelplus team up on 'Moon Diver' for XBLA

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/09/square-enix-and-feelplus-team-up-on-moon-diver-for-xbla

Andriasang reports that Square Enix has pulled back the curtain obscuring the identity of its next project: a 2D action game called Moon Diver, coming this year to the Japanese Xbox Live Arcade. The title, which will be developed by Lost Odyssey and Ninety-Nine Nights 2 creator feelplus, pits four-player teams of ninjas -- presumably moon ninjas, which we all know to be the coolest type of ninjas -- against waves of monsters in an attempt to protect a post-apocalyptic Earth.

We still have so many questions: Is it coming to America? Can we see some screenshots? Are we expected to dive into or off of the moon? We suppose our curiosity will have to be sated by these slim, slim details for now. We'll try pestering Square Enix for answers to these pressing questions at E3.

So Necromachina is English name for "Moon Diver". Cool. Looks nice for another game staring Ragna the Blood Edge! 2 player hack-and-slash/run-and-gun hybrid with Japanese styling sounds great.

Infinity Gene looks very fun as well. I shudder at the "Square-Enix Tax" that these 2 might recieve, but look forward to seeing more on both of them regardless!

Actually there is. My backlog is huge and while I'm interested in Joe Danger I'd like to play a demo first. It's as simple as that.

The one thing I really hate about PSN is the lack of trial versions for the most games.
