I can get to about 150k in Geometry Wars without using a bomb or losing a life. Then it goes downhill pretty damn quickly. I think my high score is somewhere around 270k. How the hell are people busting a million :(

That's what I want to know....I've only been able to reach 240k. Most games I can't get above 100k. The difficulty seems to ramp up very quickly. But I can't stop playing, it's damn good.

You just have to survive as long as possible. When you have 6x or higher multiplier, you start getting free men every 30 seconds, so keep alive (meaning use bombs when you're about to die, if you get gameover with more than 1 bomb in your aresenal you aren't using them right). When the game gets hectic, sometimes I go around the sides while shooting in the direction I'm going, you'll be suprised how well that works. The only problem that keeps getting me is that the snakes don't flash when they appear. So if they appear right on me (when things surround you and you're close to the bottom, they'll appear as low as they can be, and at times that's right on top of you), I'm dead before I even hear the "we're about to appear" sound effect. At least the others give a flash chance of getting out of the way.

And you think "after 100000 everything goes wrong" is bad, you should see how the game changes when you hit a million. Basically its exactly a constant mix of enemies (never just one kind anymore), with those blue diamonds appearing non-stop. You know how when the insects come out, nothing else pops up until they stop coming out? Well after a million the blue diamonds don't stop, they just keep coming and coming, you hit your bomb to clear the field, 5 diamonds are there in a flash. It makes me in awe of the people who could've possibly gotten 2 million.

My high is 880,000 but in most cases I average between 500k and 650k. Right now I'm working on hitting 500k without dying to hook up that achievement. My next goal will be to hit 1 million and hopefully move back into the top 10 again.

I can make it to 200,000 easy but the second I die, everything goes to shit as well. I just lose it, and its always because of those stupid boxs that create 2 smaller ones. >:0

i just wish geometry wars wasn't so randomly mean

I'm kicking ass just over 200,000 points and then boom! A surrounding snake spawn! Sure it doesn't sound so bad because I didn't tell you that half a second later they spawned like 40 of those pink boxes. It's like they're trying to tell me not to bother trying to get past 300,000 points :<

Ok guys....I have a question. Right now my 360 can only go online on my crappy-ass standard TV...and I'd like to play it on my HD TV in the other room.

That means I wouldn't be online as I'm playing these games, and I was wondering if anyone knew of an offline scoreboard feature in any of the games That's something I knew to be standard, a top ten list of your scores basically....but Hexic HD had nothing of that sort and you had to be online to save your score.. I don't care about being the best in the world, I'd just like mine to record if myself or other people are playing games like Bejewelled.

I'm really hoping for some more 400 point games. I can't believe other than the 3 arcade ports, Geometry Wars is the only 400 game that's actually new. I was thinkign about getting Zuma, but just as a time-waster when I'm bored and feel like relaxing (I love Geometry Wars but when I play that game I feel the exact opposite of relaxed). But 800 points? I'm sorry but that's too much for such a simple game.

EDIT - do you think some games will go down in price over time? I figure eventually too many games will be on Arcade that some games will have to be put into a "older file" or something.

man geowars also needs to relax on the black holes. I just had about 15 on the screen at one given time and all you can hear is the explosions of them over and over and over and over until i eventually died :<

$10 is too much? Don't you think you'll get $10 worth of enjoyment out of it? I mean a DVD costs $15... going out to a movie is at least as much. IMO, $10 is very reasonable... hell, the game costs $20 on the PC.

I thought it kept track of what you did and then synched up when you got back on-line? I guess you could always go wireless or get a really long ethernet cable.

If I hear more than 3 explosions, I usually bomb it cause you know those black hole fragments are going to go into other active black holes, creating more and more. One or two explosions you should be able to handle.

And $10 too much for a simple mind game? Without a two player mode for added competition? Yeah I think so, when you consider the 400 point games available. I'll pay 800 for a mind-game that's super addictive and has a 2 player Live mode.

I hit 266K today in Geometry Wars! :D

I hate you.

By the way, I finally gave Outpost Kaloki X a proper play through last night and I loved it! It really is an addicting yet fairly simple sim game. Xbox Live Arcade, I WANT TO HAVE YOUR BABIES!

Whoo, new personal Geometry Wars highscore, ~1175000. That makes me 22nd. Too bad it wasn't enough to raise me up in the leaderboards, but still good enough. I ended with 5 bombs so I could've done better.

Well i het well into the 850K+ in Geo wars today. First shot right off the bat. im ranked in the 60's now

WOO!

Moving on up!

Went from rank 62 to 55 in Geo wars! It seems like one of those games where it really has to click for people to start doing good and putting up good scores. I still dont see how anyone can get over 2 Mil. Thats insane

I think you've beat my score since I was 23rd yesterday. Good work.

I notice that there's gonna be some poker/backgammon games coming for Xbox Arcade. Any word if you can bet anything, like Marketplace Points or anything?

I'm right between you guys right now. This is apparently the GAF region of the leaderboard :)

Code:
[b]23. ColdBlooded33 1,241,720[/b]
24. SimonX314 1,229,220
25. Dootuz 1,222,545
[b]26. Jesiatha 1,218,030[/b]
27. mmbalto 1,180,120
[b]28. LakeEarth v1 1,175,520[/b]

I managed to just about beat the first Prize room without continuing to get the score. I am pretty sure I can get to Mutoid Man on one credit eventually.

BTW, does Mutoid Man seem WAY easier than the actual arcade game, or is it just me? I can kill him with like.. 3 grenade launchers.

The grenades seem to hurt him a fucking LOT, yeah. Most of my experience is in the SNES version so I don't know if it was the same in the arcade Smash TV.

And if you want to beat the first stage without losing a continue, avoid the prize room. It gives you lots of points but its hard. I haven't tried for that achievement yet though.

Not so exciting I guess, I wonder what other upcoming releases are there?
how come when i go to that page and try to watch the trailer it brings me to a page about ESRB ratings? im logged in my xbl account on the site...still not go. it says age verification but nowhere to actually verify it.

there is nothing lamer than having to sit through the levels with trapped deaths in gauntlet whilst some douche with a multiplier sits and shoots them through the gap.

*shakes fist*

"oh, if you shoot death the exits opens...
... almost there...
... any second now...
... should be a few seconds"

please, i've played gauntlet before - stop wasting everyones time!
cheeser suck

The scoreboard for Smash TV is weird, I've beaten my highscore but the highscore that shows up isn't close to what I got. I got the "first stage master" achievement, do you think the scoreboard didn't count the "end of stage bonus" points?

EDIT - Nope, Nikashi clarified it for me, the highscore is points divided by continues. I continued once thinking of continuing the game but then decided against it. Oops, 1 million gone :lol

We need to do some GAF get together on 4 player Gauntlet sometime soon. I'm not that good at the game but I use common sense when it comes to moving on and having to survive. Mr. Bob is a good teammate since he knows what hes doing. We need 2 more people to fill the slot.

Good games with Nikashi, we actually made it halfway through the 3rd stage. We figured co-op out, it'll end itself if any one player continues more than once in one area. So it is possible to win the co-op award.

Piece of shit Xbox website. It's been down seemingly 75% of the time since launch day.

Marble Blast Ultra should be coming soon as well, I assume.

use IE ;) I thought the same as well...
I think this 50MB limit for downloadable games is not a good idea, they should come up with bigger memory cards very soon and do away with the limit. I mean the memory card only guys can't download the normal game demos either, and I don't think they would download arcade games anyway. It's just limiting the potential of the games by limiting the size, just to cater to a small audience.. (jesiatha, hint hint..)
