add me to the geo wars GAF millionaire club, though i doubt anyone cares. what's funny is that when i first hit 800k, i was ranked 78 or some shit. i hit a million and i'm only at the #111 spot. competition is fucking fierce in this game.

You've done it again XBLA. When I think about this whole Drought Until March thing, I really have to laugh. MS has gotten me hooked on BACKGAMMON AND SPADES. And these are games that literally have unlimited replay value. And, the Trump (HA!), you never have to listen to that awful Final-Fantasy-Item-Town music on the Hardwood games ever again if you've got an iPod.

360 FTW.

You basically learn to watch what cards people are playing. It gets pretty easy to figure out who has certain cards if you pay attention. The worst is when you play Hearts and someone manages to Shoot The Moon (get all 26 points), if you've played Hearts long enough you can see it coming like 9 turns before the end of the hand and you have you sit there, knowing you're fucked.
 
The AI for the single player Spades is seriously fucked. I was going for nil and threw out a 10 of diamonds hoping my partner could cover me. He doesnt and I bust on nil. Later that hand he played the Queen and Ace of Diamonds. WTF? :lol
 
Sooo....anyone else noticing a distinct rolling advantage for the HARD setting on Backgammon once the CPU starts taking off pieces? They seem to get an insane amount of doubes to the point that its silly. I've counted 4-5 doubles in one game soley during the take off period.

BROKE? Jesiatha? Not sure if you can talk about this.

I had a higher score than lake earth :) unless he got somthing higher. I havent played since i got that high score, i need to get back into that
 
I finally topped Mr.Bobs highscore in geo wars with 380 thousand and something.Pretty pathetic it took me like a week of trying and its sad as hell compared to everyone elses scores around here :(

My right thumb was killing me and my eyes felt like they were going to fall out with all the shit on the screen.

Some of you are robots,that explains it all.

No I havne't played the game in like a week, I'm totally out of it right now. So my score isn't gonna be moving anytime soon. Go nuts.
 
I hit my weekend goal of 2.5 Million in Geometry Wars this weekend (Which put me in 6th but now 8th), so now I'm hoping to hit 3 Million by Tuesday at the latest.

God knows when the other arcade games are coming. Hopefully eventually, it was cool getting those board/card games but I need some new 400 point action!
 
I cant believe I payed 800 points for mutant storm. Gah, what a rip off. Especially considering the far superior geo wars was only 400.

Later this week when our guide (1up) goes live, there will be videos of me playing. . but it's only to 1.5 million. I had a real crap day. I'll see if I can redo it now that I can touch 2 million just about every time.

Geometry Wars starts at 500,000 :X
 
The funny thing is that my previous highest was 960,000. Things don't actually get that much harder when you cross the million mark and personally I think it becomes a little bit easier. There's just so much crap on the screen that even when you die, you build up multiplier really quickly, so if you can survive like 20 seconds you'll get another guy. So it just becomes a matter of surviving for 20 seconds for each time to get another life, and the points just start racking up rather quickly. The time between 1million and 1.7 was MUCH shorter than from 500,000 to 1million.
 
So how many people are playing Gauntlet single player? I was trying to go through the game without warping to level 4 or 8. I have been able to get to level six but the game starves me to death. I know that game was designed to be a quarter eater in the arcade. Does anyone have some pointers? Is it even possible to beat this game solo?

If you hit the "Y" button you refill your health. You can hit it as much as you want.

Right, but you can hit "Y" while still alive to refill and thus you will not ever die, and your score does not reset.

The game was never meant to be beaten on one quarter :-)
 
that sucks. Why would they have the limit on starting health then? If you go higher than 700 it states that your high score will not be saves.

That is only in the options... I am pretty sure in game health refill via "Y" doesn't affect leaderboard rankings. I know it doesn't affect unlocking achievements.
 
i want to know what is the process of picking what games come out on XBLA....

i know right now there's a petition to have TMNT come out on XBLA & from some interview i read a while back, it seems like it will be coming.

but what about other games that aren't so "popular" like Actraiser 2 for the SNES??

i know some people on this board work on XBLA, so any info that u could provide would be appreciated.

Well, I just got the game yesterday and spent a while playing it and (like an idiot) even longer jacking up my health. I hit 2 mil and realized I was like ages away from the last level so I decided I'd played enough for the day. Then I realized I'd lose my score if I did that. So I threw my Warrior into a pit of Red Monsters and Wizards and let them finish him off. I switched over to my Cable TV after the first ten minutes. It took about another half hour but he finally died and then, lo and behold, my 2 mil score was nowhere to be found on my leaderboard. It was a little over 3000. Is there a different kind of scoring system where 2 mil equals a certain smaller amount of points? Is it that my health was too high (I dunno, is 300,000 higher than 700?).

Any help would be appreciated.

Texas Hold 'Em just hit the debug units, so it's coming... probably not until January or later though.

In GeoWars news, I'm now just below 1.1M and working my way up, but as soon as DOA4 hits I'm done with GeoWars. It's been my killer launch app for 360, but now I must move on to other things. :lol
 
There needs to be a website that keeps track of the Xbox Live Arcade news and release dates, and posts when new stuff its it, including DLC. I'm tempted to make one...

Seriously, I think a site dedicated to XBLM is a super-fantastic idea, and it will be even more fantastic once they make good on those plans to allow users to upload content to the marketplace. It's definitely needed, as I've seen like 18 zillion threads with the same "When Is BLANK Going To Be Available?"
 
We are working with Microsoft on an announcement regarding this very issue. I'd say more about it, but I fear I'd be bludgeoned by something I'd rather not be bludgeoned with if I did.

This is the most retarded thing ever. Why didn't they just put an option in the game (the XBLA version) where you could play without having health degenerate over time?

I started tinkering around a bit with the idea but I realized I lack the motivation to do it properly, if you do end up making it and need some help I would be willing to pitch in a bit.

Our fingers are crossed just as much as yours are! We do not have direct control over the exact timing when the game will appear on the Xbox Live servers, but it *should* be today. As soon as we hear any news we will post it here, if you notice the game is live before we've posted anything here then please let us know Smile

Well in the help/options it says that your overall score is divided by the amount of credits used. Im guessing everytime you press 'Y' it counts as a credit being used. Not really sure though since my score hasn't change either on the leaderboard.
