Official Xbox Live Arcade Thread

Finally got to try this out on my bro's Xbox...Arcade is extremely cool!

Once the library grows, it'll be very much like going to an arcade and trying out all of these games. I've tried all the demos and I liked all of them, save the billiards title. I'm buying Zuma, Smash TV and GW off the bat once I get my own console. OutPost Koloki X is great too!

Marble Blast is supposed to be ported over? Someone's wearing their thinking caps over at XLA!
 
I have a question. The developers who put their games up for arcade now, are they happy with the success of their games? Wishing for more? Is this a bigger audience than they have been exposed to in the past? What's going on in the background. I'm sure others would like to know as well.

I'm not sure what TCRs are, but that is the most recent info on it
 
I played the demo... It was ok, but I think I will be passing on it. It reminds me of a cross between lemmings and oddworld.
 
Its different, and I'll give it another shot, but my initial impressions are, it's kinda dull. I'll wait till I complete all 15 levels before I make my decision on the game.
 
I found it dull at first too, but now im kind of into it. It picks up pace towards the end of story mode. My biggest complaint is that it seems kind of easy. Don't know if the other modes are harder. I'm 10% through challenge mode right now, but its basically just story mode but w/ different levels and no story.
 
I liked it enough to buy it. The control is very smooth, I was doing some crazy maneuvers and this is my first experience with the game. Not sure how to do loops consistently though. My only gripe control wise is it can be a pain to move small distances when you just need the little extra edge to make a jump or something. I'm playing through Story mode right now and there are some interesting levels, which is one of the reasons I bought the full game, to see where they take the level design.

Firepit mode is fun, its like a survival/climbing mode. Reminds me of NS Shaft or Tower.
It was nice being #1 in the world on the leaderboards for some period of time :)
 
Another update on Marble Blast from a programmer of the game:

Actually they just kind of randomly throw them at us.

"What? That wasn't in the game requirements doc..."
"Yeah we just added it."

"I never saw that TCR..."
"It just got added."

Ooooke....

Better than the last Xbox game I worked on though...

this definitely does not beat rastex and sl1p's pimp ass scores (although 1.5mil isn't bad), but i was able to get all the achievements today in geo wars retro evolved.

edit: yea, sorry. it was retro evolved... not retro.

I need to give retro a shot to get my score higher, maybe I'll find my luck there.

ahh, the beauty of xbox live arcade. it's brought back that competitiveness that's been missing on home consoles for quite some time now.

Awesome job. I'm up to 2.5 Million and yet, I somehow manage to eat it every time I try for my last achievement, survive 1,000,000.

I feel you... I'm steadily working my way up the leaderboard (currently sitting at just under 1.7 million), but I can't seem to get that last achievement. The closest I've come is 960k, so I know it's only a matter of time, but I noticed most of the top players are missing that one achievement. :lol
 
I think I stopped playing actually. It's not that I've hit a wall. . it's that I don't have the time to get insanely serious about Geometry Wars in the face of so much other stuff X__X
 
Well, I guess I should post hitting 1.6 million on Geometry Wars. :) I felt it would be impossible to beat LakeEarths score and put it to rest until I saw Coldblooded beat me. Can't let that slide.

This is true, I've been trying to retake the number one firepit time. So close (~1 sec) :)
 
Can anyone give me tips for Hexic? I beat survival mode pretty easily, but in Timed mode I can't get too far at all. The bombs kill me just about every damn time.

I must be doing something wrong... I think the problem is that the bombs are landing at the top of the screen, and I have no way of matching it up there. Is there some kind of technique to this that I should be doing?
 
If I get just under 3:06 on firepit one more time I'm gonna have to buy a new controller. My personal score board is all between like 2:55 and 3:05

If you have firefox, go to Bookmarks -> Manage Bookmarks.. There go to File->New Live Bookmark, write whatever you want in the name and description, and copy->paste that URL on the "Feed Location" text box. Create it on your bookmarks toolbar for ease of use, and you're good to go :)

Do you think after a year or so, some of these arcade games will go down in price? Or are they locked where they're at?

Probably not, the most we will probably see is some of them drop from 800 points to 400 points
 
There are some levels in Outpost Kaloki X where the gold medal times are set to default values that are too low to feasibly attain. As a result, it is not possible to earn two of the twelve achievements in the game: "Adventure Story Gold" and "Eight-Port Master." Fortunately, this issue only impacts these achievements and does not hinder gameplay or rankings on the Leaderboards. We apologize for this problem.

Today sucks ass! I was playing Hexic and had two black pearls and and 7 or 8 stars. I'm forming the stars to make the last black pearl... I hit the wrong button and the pieces turn the wrong way! Bam.... 4 or so of my stars were gone and it pushed me to the next level where new colors were introduced. Never was able to get enough stars back before I got hit by a bomb. I was soooooooo close being the Big Cheese of the South Seas :(

Just be happy you get black pearls. I can't even get more than 3 stars.
 
Getting 7 or 8 stars, let alone before the last level seems impossible to me :( I'm getting a few more, but unless 3/4ths of the circle is sitting right there I can't seem to get anything going. Maybe I'm just stupid.
