Shoot ahead of you (instead of behind you), and fly right at the enemies. The hardest part about learning the game is switching from being defensive to being aggressive.

I noticed your Geometry Wars achievements. I aspire to your greatness. Thanks for the tip.

Play 100 games. It's not too complex :)
Quickest way seems to be either:
a) play timed game, get one combo then let timer run out
b) play on hardest level and get bomb quickly

I heard it was complete the game 100 times in marathon mode. I’m pretty sure I have played the game over 100 times, so that is strange. Did you unlock the achievement already?

Edit: Nevermind, I did a google search and it looks like you are right. :)

I should be close to getting it.

I was trying to get the Hexic addict achievement like that, and then I realized what the HELL am I doing, doing something so crazy boring just for an achievement. I got mine the honorable way.

Jewel Quest is up to download.

Finally :lol

Although it's probably the only new XBLA game at this point that's not going to convince me to spend some of my points. Looks kind of lame..

I just fucking bought Zuma today and as I bought it I said "i wish i had something new to get instead"....

...please tell me it is crap so I wont feel that bad :(

Yeah, Zuma's great, JQ is just another position swap Columns type game.

You made the right choice.

Yea Zuma was the right game to buy.

Jewel Quest is totally a Bejeweled clone. It's not bad,but it's not worth 800 pts imo.

I am still happy with my Zuma buy...

JQ does not look too interesting but after checking up on the title a bit it seems to be made by the same guys that did Wik and seeing as I liked that game I might have to pick it up after a while.

Judging by screens though it will probbaly be a while till I do that.

800?! Christ, this is a 400pt game, max. Though I suppose Geo Wars was the first and last non-retro game to cost 400.

Its totally not worth 800 points. Crazy simple game with crazy simple graphics, BOOMING FUCKING SOUND, but really really dull. If Microsoft ever allow price drops for XBLA games, this is the one that needs it most.

Have you guys seen the Zuma Sharp Shooter achievement video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPGCGNf9EXI

Seems like this is the only guy in the world who's done it.
I was trying last night and couldn't get under 15 seconds. It looks like you have to have everything go right. i.e. the right combo setup, the right two colours and the right location for the coin pop. Eek.

I stopped trying to get that achievement after everything went perfectly, I shot exactly where I needed, the chains formed exactly how they should've, bam, bam, BAM all the orbs were off the screen..... but... NO COIN! Nope, no coin popped up till 7-8 seconds in, so no Zuma, so no end of level. I got too frustrated to keep trying after that.

Whoooo I finally got the Survived 1,000,000 :Earn 1,000,000 points without dying and Multitastic:Earn x10 multiplier achievements in Geo Wars.

Whats funny is I didnt get a new high score out of it :lol :( I fell apart from excitement after I got the achievements, since those were my last two to get and ive been trying for over a month.

Now I can just try for highscores :D

Just looking at this puts a smile on my face...

Tried Jewel Quest demo. Ugh; fun little game, but 800? Sell me another bridge. Probably the most "ghetto" non-retro game for XBLA so far. Seriously, even Crystal Quest is more elaborate in presentation in its own way.

My wife and I have been playing Jewel Quest on the PC for the last month. It may not look like much but it is one addictive game with a surprising amount of strategy.

So is it basically Bejeweled/Zoo Keeper? I haven't bought Bejeweled 2 yet, as I was holding out for Zoo Keeper later in the year. But I like that Jewel Quest resembles Zuma. Shame about the price though.

The addition of Jewel Quest to XBLA at this time makes no fucking sense. It's only been 4 months and they already have Bejeweled 2. What's the point in releasing basically the same game with different graphics? I know the obvious answer is $$ but you'd think that MS would at least try to space some of these clones a little further apart.

Still waiting for someone to get off their butts and make a XBLA version of Scorched Earth.

If you think Jewel Quest and Bejeweled 2 are the same thing, then you obviously haven't played Jewel Quest.

Edit: In Bejeweled 2, you have a constantly decreasing timer. Your only goal is to fill the timer by making matches of three or more pieces.

In Jewel Quest, there is also a timer. But you don't affect the countdown; the timer represents a fixed time limit for the level. Each match of three or more pieces turns the tiles behind those pieces gold. You have to turn every tile on the screen gold to complete the level. Basically, every tile on the screen has to have participated in a match. It's a very different style of play than Bejeweled, even if it shares the same basic mechanics. Bejeweled 2 and Jewel Quest are no more alike than bumper cars and NASCAR.

Thanks for the clarification.

I wonder how the prices are going to pan out. Allard allready said Live Marketplace is somewhat of a free market. If people are willing to pay more for less, the prices will probably go up.

You would think that they would realize they have essentially a half dozen different versions of Robotron, too, and decide to put out some different styles of games. But then they give us another version of a puzzle game that is already available. C'mon, MS, get on the fucking beat 'em ups and fighters and shooters.

10, but I just got into it again. I just DROPPED it after beating 9-7 a month or two back, and I'm getting back into it so it'll take some adjusting.

EDIT - Out of complete bordom I bought Joust. Getting the 120 second without dying achievement was so fricken hard. Around 60 seconds in, a pteradactyl shows up, and with 20 seconds left another one comes along :lol

XBLA thread de-stickied :o End of an era.

Did anyone else notice that you're prompted to download an update when booting up Smash TV? No clue what it did.. I didn't know that they were going to be patching XBLA games.

Probably fixed the ifinite replay glitch. There was a bug in Smash TV that let you do continuous play on the demo version.

most likely because people could bypass the demo

Haha, yeah that's probably what it was. It had been so long that I completely forgot about that. Such a timely response!

They still need to patch Marble Blast Ultra (leaderboard bugs make it nigh impossible to compare yourself with your friends).

But I'd imagine that the Smash TV update is just for the demo bug.

I'm wondering if this is more of a problem with XBL, and not just MBU. I noticed that I have the same issue from time to time in other games (notably, Burnout Revenge and GRAW). Sometimes certain friends will show up on leaderboards, sometimes they won't.

Will Gamestop or Gamecrazy price match the error in the Best Buy ad for the XBL headset kit? I can't find the topic discussing that again

It is indeed to avoid the 'infinite play' bug. Now when the "Game over, buy the real game!" screen comes up, it only comes up for a split second and the game goes straight to the title screen :lol
