That's just incredible. It takes 8 hours to achieve such a score.
Bizarre mentions that there are more than 150.000 geometry wars players now. With such sales I sure hope Stephen Cakebread is working on more XBLA content!

This just makes me want to weep. I played GW-E last night for like an hour and the most I got was 350k-something. This is made even more sad by the fact that my high score is 500k-something. This game frustrates me to no end.

I love it.

leaderboards are cool and all, but one problem for me and many other "mere mortal" gamers is that it makes us feel like dog poo when we compare our best scores with the world's best. there's no comparison! Fucking hardcore gaming geeks ;)

I wonder if GW still scales in difficulty at such a high score? Like is the difficultly at 100 mill that much more difficult than the difficulty at 20 mill?

Yeah it's great. I got up to 900k without dying before my brother came in and said "wow you bet your high score by a mile!", prompting me to look at the score only for me to die in the process :(

I gave him a good kick in after that :D

Totally, I used to think of myself as a pretty good gamer but with the advent of Live, its like it says "nah you're crap, try again". In a good way though :P

Don't think so, but I think the challenge is to concentrate for such a long time. That's just insane.

I wouldn't be surprised if the game hits 1 mil by the time 360's time on the market is winding down.

That's why you compare against people in your friends list. Or people local in score to you "like I'm gonna beat that guy 5 spots ahead of me!" Of course if you're crazy you can get into the arms race for the top spot... most people aren't crazy though.

Nope, at around 4 million or so (depending on how you play) the difficulty stays the same.. the hard part is to keep going ang going and going.... These guys could, theoretically, go on forever, if they never got tired..

While the topic is (sort of) on Geometry Wars high scores, I'm having a bit of a problem with my copy.

On two seperate instances now, I have achieved a new high score only for those scores not to be logged. They just don't show up on the leadboard at all, no matter how long I leave it.

The funny thing is the last time it happened, I cracked a million points and I got the achievement, but not the score (arrrrgggghhh!).

Anyone experienced anything similar or have a workaround?

If you're disconnected from live for any period of time, your high score will not be updated.

Hmmm, I'm on an "always on" broadband connection and never had any problems with random disconnections from Live. Seemed strange the way I got the achievement registered though.

Maybe I'll just have to make sure that when I play there isn't anything else sharing the connection at the same time which might be causing timeouts or something.

Oh. I think you will get notified if you are disconnected. I'm not sure. But I've seen a lot of people complaining about getting disconnected and then their high score not being recorded (even if you sign back in right away). I thought that might be what happened, maybe not. But you would definitely still get the achievement- online/offline/online most of the time, doesn't matter.

Just listened to the recent GamingSteve podcast today where he interviews Greg Canessa. Greg is still really hyped about XBLA and somehow he still has goals of 4-6 games a month. I wished Steve would have grilled him over the current release schedule, but he let it slide. Also Greg claims to have over 100 small to medium developer studios onboard for indie type games.

I don't know... MS keeps claiming all these numbers... like 100's of developers, 100's of games, 4-6 games per month and the fruit of their labor has been 3 games in the last 4 1/2 months.

I <3 XBLA... but they need to be taken to task when they aren't meeting advertised goals.

Godamnit...and here I thought the bump was to rejoice over this game finally showing up on XBLA.

On another note-
When the hell is this coming anyways?

Yeah, you're not a scumbag or anything.

Don't bump this thread for complaining. It's for new Arcade releases. Shit.

This thread has almost 2,000 posts - it was even stickied at one time. Really, it's for any kind of XBLA discussion. Yeah, we're all on edge because MS is ****ing retarded about releasing new titles, but this thread can be used for more than just that. Besides, any new games that are released will probably get their own threads at this point.

wtf, question for you guys

my girlfriend has always been able to play the full versions of the xbla games on her silver account that i downloaded on my gold account.

but now it's not letting her. nor is it letting her have access to the hexic theme i downloaded (though it lets her access the SF2 theme).

what do you guys think this could be? i didnt play/have my 360 for about 2 weeks, as it was getting fixed by MS. i got a brand new one in the mail yesterday, put my HDD back on it, and then downloaded the dashboard update.

is this something MS did in the dashboard update or is it just screwed up?

any help is appreciated

All marketplace content is available for all gamertags on the Xbox 360 it was purchased in. So, seeing as you got yours fixed, they probably sent you a new one, so all gamertags other than your own won't be able to access your bought content.

You have to call Microsoft and let them know about your situation, and they will give you back the points, so you can rebuy all the stuff again.

I don't think you have to purchase all the content again. I think it just has to be re-downloaded. If I rememebr correctly for Gamer Profile (which is link to your Gamertag) keeps track of all your downloads (just look at all the checkmarks by the things you've downloaded). You may have to retrieve your profile onto your new XBox. And I swear I distinctly remember someone (Allard, Bach, Moore...osmeone) downloaded content for the XBox360 would be handled this way and you would not have to re-buy stuff. If I'm wrong someone PLEASE let me know. I kow I had to re-pirchase some Xbox DLC onto my XBox360. But I think that's not the case with the XBox360. Can someone verify?

Watch this: Small Arms

It seems very nice, but the stage seems a bit too little for multiplayer action of that kind...

Again, I ask, when does this drop?! I'm so pumped up for this I'm going crazy!!

either that or you haggle the customer service reps and demand they change the "ownership" from the old xbox 360 serial # to the new one

The procedure is-

You call MS and complain.
Person is clueless.
You hang up and call again.
You repeat this process until someone understands.
They escalate your problem.
Approximately two weeks later they will give you codes in increments of 200 pts.
You make a new silver account
You must redeem these 40 character codes painstakingly with the on screen keyboard on the new account.
You delete the old content.
You download the content again using your new free points.
Your content will now work on your new console regardless of gamertag.

Gastronaut Studios (Small Arms developer) says: "end of Summer"

I'm still kicking myself for missing the XBLA kiosk and Small Arms at the E3 Microsoft booth.

I just entered my username and password on the new 360 and it recognised all my old achievements and allowed me to redownload all the full version arcade games on the new 360 no problem.

The Japanese XBLA page has just been updated.
Cloning Clyde and Frogger are now scheduled for release this month alongside SF2.

I never was a Frogger guy. I'll get the other two for sure, though.

Thought I'd bump this for the SUMMER OF XBLA!

Anyone want to give some Frogger impressions? Any online options, what are the achievements like, etc.

Bleh... is the first impression. Yes it is Frogger like we remember it, but the nostalgia wore off in like 30 minutes. The image can be stretched, but it appears we will be playing with borders (ala SF2 Hyper in August). The achievements are pretty easy for first glance. You get acheivement points just for beating each stage. There are some harder ones like "Cross Frogger 20 times without dying" or something like that. Did not get to multiplayer, but I am just going to buzz through it and get to Cloning Clyde and NCAA 07 next week

I only got to play a little bit of Frogger before I had to leave for work this morning, but it was great fun. I used to love Frogger in the arcades when I was growing up so I knew I was gonna plunk down the Points for this one... I got one achievement, too -- "Well Ordered" -- for filling the frog slots in order, right to left. I will play more tonight... woot!

I love Frogger, and the demo seemed pretty good.

My question before I plunk down some money is what are the multiplayer modes and are they worth my time?

I haven't played Frogger in years. The demo shall be downloaded as soon as I get home. I really hope MS sticks to their guns with this "Summer of XBLA" stuff. The drought has been far too long and we're really overdue for some good 400 point games.

P.S. - Just got a new high score of 3.35 million in Geometry Wars this week.

it's easier to play in original graphics in frogger - it's weird you can only change it while pausing the game instead of at the main menu but whatever
