it's easier to play in original graphics in frogger - it's weird you can only change it while pausing the game instead of at the main menu but whatever
All the retro games are like that, and the option doesn't save, so I think you have to do it every time.

I'll be buying this, and probably all four of the other announced games. Cloning Clyde looks especially awesome, but I'm sure it's 800 points.

I'm not too impressed with Frogger, I really like to see some new stuff like Cloning Clyde, Mad Tracks, Hoopworld and Small Arms.

I only got to play a little bit of Frogger before I had to leave for work this morning, but it was great fun. I used to love Frogger in the arcades when I was growing up so I knew I was gonna plunk down the Points for this one... I got one achievement, too -- "Well Ordered" -- for filling the frog slots in order, right to left. I will play more tonight... woot!

I too downloaded it before work and got that same achievment and the 5 lady frogs one. I'm excited for this, one of my all time favorite old school arcade games.

heh... anyone under 25 likely won't be impressed with Frogger since there's no nostalgia factor. If you didn't spend your childhood pumping quarters into 1980's arcade machines, then I wouldn't recommend wasting your 400 points. Save em' up for Cloning Clyde and Street Fighter.

Those of us in our late 20's and up can appreciate these old relics, especially with the new art and crisp HD resolution. Bring on Root Beer Tapper! :)

I need multiplayer info stat. Is it just taking turns playing frogger or is there some new spin on it?

Oh, and FREEWAY and KABOOM are needed stat.

Centipede wouldnt be bad either. and air raid, and missle comand.

Hmm... how to make a wireless trackball... :p

From a brief look, it seems like the following multiplayer modes are available. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong!

Same box multiplayer:
-Alternating turns

Xbox Live multiplayer:
-VS (probably alternating turns)
-VS Speed (probably alternating turns scored by speed instead of points)
-Co-op (probably two frogs on screen at a time)

I just downloaded the trial. Definately not worth the money for me, this game was a little bit before my time.

All I need is some tetris.

For those who have the full version of Frogger:

Just downloaded the trial. Is it possible to make the actual game screen wider and/or bigger? I have a widescreen TV and it is incredibly small and narrow.

someone just mentioned earlier that you can change aspect ratios or whatever in the pause menu (but not the main options menu for some reason), so try that. I was wondering the same thing this morning before I went to work.

You can change it in the trial version by pausing during the main game.

Frogger is just as I remember it: ****ing infuriating. Even with the enhanced graphics, it retains all of the classic annoyances of the original.

That did the trick. And made the sale! ;)

I'm 16 and I love frogger. We used to go to this hotel (and still kind of do) and that's one of the cheapest games to play there (one quarter = 5 lives) so that's what I play

It's a really fun game. I don't know how anyone could hate it.

Frogger was terrible, give me my money back microsoft :lol . Now i never played the original but the controls all seem laggy to me, when your jumping the game is very anal about the timing, also collision detection is poor with the cars. The frame rate was bad and the game even froze for a couple of seconds once or twice, must be all the amazing graphics it was pushing...:lol. The game itself is easy but the controls make it a chore. I got all the single player achievments bar finishing level 5 and i moved onto multiplayer, which is a total mess. i have a good conection and my conection bar was always green 4 out of 4 bars, yet every game i played was a lag fest and made it impossible to enjoy.

All that you just said applies to the real arcade game, which this is emulating.

The music is off though, I compared to the original romsets and the XBLA version has plenty of music missing. Seems a bit thin, too.

not exactly new, but I havent seen anyone talk about this neat Small Arms achievement:

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3152043
By way of GameSetWatch, an achievement coming to Small Arms, a shooter/brawler (that immediately reminds of Super Smash Bros. Melee, peep the video above, or check it at Gamevideos) will spread like a virus through Xbox Live's Achievement system. The achievement, called "Six Degress of Small Arms," will start with the four Gastronaut (studio making Small Arms) employees as the only ones with the achievement. When someone plays with the Gastronaut employees, they'll get the achievement and the achievement will be contagious, spreading to players who don't have the achievement when they play with players who do. Pretty slick.

I'm sorry, but I'll believe "29 new games by the end of the year" when they're all available for download. And even if it does happen, as someone who loves XBLA, I'll be overwhelmed. I don't care about how lengthy the certification process is; there should've been better planning. It's ridiculous to go from 6-7 games in six months to 1+ a week.

This does seem pretty strange. The guy above said "The reason for the big break was so they could get all this lined up." Don't know if that's true or not, but if it is, that's really weird. Holding back ALL GAMES for months so that they can let off a year long constant stream? Huh..

This long long drought of good XBLA action has hurt the service in my eyes. When I first got my 360 I thought it was cool. At this point I'm disappointed and frustrated. This thing has a LONG way to go.. In any case, going forward this is good news. Hopefully a fair amount of these upcoming 29 games are really worth playing.

Not sure if this has been posted yet or not...

Your own Arcade party on MS

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/2006/0712-partyinabox.htm

We're so excited about the great Xbox Live Arcade titles coming out this summer that we're gonna party like it's … um … 1986! Yep, we're inviting our friends over, cranking the Top Gun soundtrack (come on, you KNOW you wanna go back to the "Danger Zone"), ordering pizza, and playing retro Xbox Live® Arcade games.

Want to get in on the action? Throw your own Wednesday Night Arcade party! We'll even help get you started with a Party in a Box. Okay, there's not really a box, but here's what we'll send you:

* A free pizza from Papa John's.
* 1000 Microsoft points. Use 'em to download Xbox Live Arcade titles!
* Free digital music download to get your favorite eighties tunes.

All we ask in return? Take some pictures of your party and tell us who was there and what happened. What did you play? What did you listen to? Did you get pepperoni or sausage on your Pappa John's pizza?

If you're ready to host your own Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday party, drop us an email at xlmail@microsoft.com, subject: "Arcade Party." Please include your gamertag!

This offer is only good while supplies last, so be sure to send in your request today. This offer is only available in the United States

Looks like Microsoft is trying to make up for a couple of months of nothingness with an orgy of material all at once. It looks like they are finally ramping up for a big marketing blitz.

1 per week. Soon an arcade release will be the norm. It'll be great.

17/20 are classics. They said it'd be about half classics and half new games. I'd guess the remaining 9 will all be new stuff.

You can include both Texas Hold 'em and Cloning Clyde as being original games. I'm actually pretty excited for Cloning Clyde after seeing a few videos of it. I bought 2000 points yesterday which should hold me till SFII comes out.

yeah but then there's hoopworld, roboblitz, texas holdem, mutant storm empire, etc

hopefully we get geometry wars 3 this year :)

If they make Geometry Wars co-op it'll be all over for me... Plus they should include a feature similar to Gotham TV where you can watch the best players live.

You should keep an eye on Mutant Storm Empires. Robotron-style games with Online Co-Op FTMFW
