It's odd that I havent bought an xbla title game in some time. Scramble and time pilot are not worth the 5 bucks.. and I own 20 XBLA games.

Bring on lumines.

Something similar has probably been said already, but here's what I'd like to see on XBLA: I'd like to see a lot of the 2D fighter genre. Street Fighter is a step in the right direction, but I'd like to see the Garou/Fatal Fury series, KOF series, Samurai Showdown, and more recent Street Fighter games. Maybe put the marketplace to work and offer arcade sticks and 6 button fighter pads through the marketplace.

Some online tourneys would bring out the very best, and give us a chance to test our skills. Sure, I think I kick butt in KOF XI, but I'd like to see how I stack up in a bigger competitive pool.

Just my $.02

I kinda like Scramble, mostly for nostalgia's sake, but that 20 second demo was pretty awful.

I want to see more co-op games really, Castle Crashers is a fantastic additon.

scramble is pretty bad...i'm ready for some real "new" arcade titles instead of this rehashing 80's stuff.

You know, I don't mind that... but I do mind when they're disappointing 80s games. Scramble isn't outright TERRIBLE, but to tell people you want to spread out Live Arcade titles to keep some semblance of "quality" and then you release this, I mean, come on. I don't know what they're thinking.

I'm also seriously disappointed that every one of these Konami titles has the same menu. It's a small thing, but how hard would it be to decorate this with the original arcade artwork?

In any case, I'm holding off till we know what the next release is for sure.

It's sort of disappointing how the first batch of retro arcade titles all had a heavy multiplayer element, Joust and Smash TV with its two playerness, and Gauntlet being 4 players which really lended itself to being played online with Live and was a decent value add. The recent arcade titles are all basically single player which pretty much sucks.

You said the secret word!

You win. I've always wondered why there aren't current console fighting using a similar control scheme, with two thumbsticks present on ps and xbox consoles. I loved Karate Champ, the opposed sticks move was cooooolllll :D

I just read on 2ch that RoboBlitz is coming out on 27 September for 1200 points, but I can't find another source for this info.
Ah, you edited. I was just gonna post that it's on a "now available" list that comes with Live Arcade Unplugged, so it shouldn't be as far off as you first posted. :)

This is a good thread as any to post that Settlers of Catan is up on PartnerNet now, in case anyone cares about impressions. 1) I don't get this game at all. Why do my opponents keep getting grain/grass/whatever cards, but I never get any? 2) It's very ugly. Very ugly. 3) Then again, it's also pretty damn early so maybe that's why #1 and #2 exist.

Anyone care to explain how it works in a sentence or two? I roll the dice and build some roads (or actually not, since I can't afford to do anything since I never get any cardS) and then what?

(TotemBall has also been up for a while, but it refuses to start without a camera plugged in. All I can say about that is that it has a funnystrange backstory about like mayan indians building huge pinball games.)

*sigh* Another Wednesday, another week with no new content. That's crappy. I'm starting to get bitter about XBLA and the lack of new and exciting content. I was excited months ago about Contra and Lumines but I'm getting to the point now where I don't care because I'm tired of waiting. And what's this shit about Doom coming to XBLA? Who gives a shit about Doom? 4-player co-op just means you're gonna blast through the levels that much faster.

Ah. I'm just pissed there's nothing new AGAIN. I refuse to buy these games if they come out alongside Gears, Rainbow, Splinter Cell, etc. **** em. Its bad enough that the real games all ****ing come out during the next few months, I don't want my half-assed little arcade games crowding that time too. Bastards.

There is an XBLA arcade title coming tonight (europen time). Chill.

From the TGS press release:
• Expect two new additions to Xbox Live Arcade: The FPS that pioneered
the network-gaming era, DOOM(r), from acclaimed developer id Software and Activision, is available now on Xbox Live Marketplace. The game includes the original four-episode single-player game, four-player split screen action, both co-op and deathmatch, and four player co-op and deathmatch via Xbox Live. Coming soon to Xbox Live Arcade is Sensible World of Soccer from Codemasters. Based on a classic Amiga title from 1994, Sensible World of Soccer will let gamers choose between the original graphics or an updated, high-resolution look and feel—while still capturing the original game's wide world of football.

This is the soccer game btw (bleh)

A man of no taste I see :P

SWOS was absolutely kick ass back in the day so if it is a good port I will probably buy it straight off, won't be any worse than the craptacular Scramble or Time Pilot anyways.

SWOS is one of the best games of all time. Americans can chew my left nut!

Not really, but SWOS is great.

Time Pilot actually rocks, you just have to give it a chance.

I agree with the 80's rehashing though, new stuff is more appreciated.

Time Pilot does rock indeed. I think I'm still in the top 100 for score, come on GAF beat my highscore so I have a reason to play it again :lol

And the Doom achievements seem decent. The "beat one level on Nightmare" is kinda stupid since you can beat the first level quite easily even on Nightmare. Though beating the entire game on UltraViolence might actually take some time to do.

If anyone has a chance to play totem, post impressions. I was thinking of picking up the camera today but will probably hold off if totem isnt worth getting.

This game is hard for the arms....15 minutes of gameplay and my shoulder burn like crazy lol.
by the way the game sucks, you roll around getting totem pieces....and the pinball part is lame to simple.

Why is the camera required?

Wow the leaderboard has a total of EIGHT people on it right now. That's a little sad when only 8 people worldwide have played this game. :lol

I see demi is one of the eight.

DOOM? Is there anything (Besides Achievements) different between the LIVE version and the one I can play on my DOOM3 disc with BC?

Also, will there be a DOOM 2 release too?

I have to hook my 360 back up, subscribe to LIVE Gold and check this out.
