why would you start over? You can just re-assign them however you want from the menu before every level and every time you try a level again.
Really? How? I've tried clicking around on those and nothing happens. :lol

Doesn't really matter since I'm at leve 18 now, though.

There's a post mortem for Roboblitz posted at Gamasutra if anyone wants a little XBLA development insight.

That was a great read. I am suprised at the amount of money it took them to make this game (a little under a million?). I wonder what they have to sell to break even. I hope they do because it sounds like they are a talented bunch of individuals.

How is Roboblitz selling?

Maybe 100k or so? Assuming that they get around 60% of the take.

When asked for specifics concerning the buy-through rates for Xbox Live Arcade titles compared to the PC, Chouteau commented, “While I don't have a specific number, it was close to an order of magnitude higher [for XBLA titles].” He continued: “In addition, I can say that contribution by XBLA titles to PopCap's total overall revenue is not an insignificant percentage.”
Damn, 10x more sales on XBLA? That's insane.

How are you guys getting past mission 6 in Heavy Weapon? What are the best weapon combos for that level?

I keep getting owned early on by that blimp that drops those huge bombs. If you don't blow them up in mid-air they kill you when they hit the ground.

What's the best way to deal with the little purple ball things, do I just have to dodge them or is there a way to shoot them down? Help :(

I would suggest using all your points on homing missiles and lightning (3 for homing, 2 for lightning) at that point.

Those huge bombs are your highest priority whenever they're on screen. Get directly under the bombs as they're dropping and fire straight up at them to destroy them fastest - you'll be hitting the plane at the same time, and will eventually destroy it. They either come in waves of three or six, and it's random what side of the screen they come from, so get ready to race over to the other side if necessary to destroy the first bomb that gets dropped.

For the purple things, you can't destroy them. The "splash" ones come in the yellow bombs that are dropped by a certain kind of plane, so if you can destroy those before they hit the ground, you won't have to worry about them.

Heavy Weapon is the first game I've played where I cared about leader boards. I've been working on the Boss Battle mode, and for some reason the leader boards were one of the things that kept me motivated to do so. I just beat it - #197.

Now to work on Survival. I've only lasted 11 minutes, 23 seconds so far. The leader is at 17 minutes - somehow. The guy has got to be a machine to last that long, considering how batshit insane the 11 minute mark got. :lol

Great little game.

The high score in Geowars is currently over 300.000.000. Some peope aren't human.

Lumines live expansion packs 3 of, for cheap.

Please, no moaning, we`ve already had that

I love Lumines so I think this is great. Offering the games at a discount for early adopters is icing on the cake.

For Heavy Weapon I always stick to one weapon type and lvl it up first before mixing it up with another. I usually start off with lasers and max that one up then move on to homing missiles. You need to have a decent aim though to get the most out of lasers and the reload factor (about one - two seconds) becomes second nature once you play through a couple of levels. I usually save the shields for last since I don't notice much of an improvement in defenses and in the final levels the upgrade helicopter delivers shield recharges at a steady pace. Remember if you're having difficulty at any level you can always remove points from a weapon and add it to another.

hey guys, my friend just got on xbla and is looking for the best games. he already picked up Geometry Wars and loves it, what else would you suggest?

Lumines is a great puzzle game, Heavy Weapon is a fun old-school kinda shooter, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Street Fighter 2 are both easy marks for a fighter if he's into that, and DOOM is surprisingly fun alone, but a complete blast with friends.

Best of all, he can try demos of all those games before buying.

Holy shit! Heavy Weapon is a great game! Best XBLA game to date for me.

I hit more than 19 minutes online with a group of 4. The amount of sh*t on the screen near 20 minutes is just crazy.

yes, that game was a big surprise for me, it's just so smooth and fun. I haven't been enjoying the latest batch of the original content on XBLA lately so this was a very nice addition :D

bookworm plz

That is a good point. I'd have to imagine that Bookworm is one of the best selling PopCap games, it would make sense for them to port it over.

Is this on XBLA's radar? I would buy this in a second!

I think Bookworm on XBLA is about as likely as Halo 3 hitting this fall.

No no! Bookworm Adventures!
Given the popularity of both Bookworm and Bookworm Adventures, I wouldn't be surprised to see them both hit XBLA. It's even possible they'll hit as some sort of glorious combo, but I don't think that's likely.

Sweet, Bookworm on XBLA confirmed!
I mean, seriously. PopCap's going on and on about how successful XBLA has been for them, how much better sales are on the 360, and how they've got more games in the works. Meanwhile, the Top 10 list on their site includes almost all the games they've released on XBLA thus far (minus, uh, Astropop), so it's a really safe bet to expect the rest of that list across the next year or so.

It's actually not sales that they go on and on about it's conversion rates, which is the number of people who download the demo who go on to buy the game. I'd imagine that they are still selling more on the PC or they would have been a press release stating otherwise.

ok so how about this that cool little mini keyboard controller insert & Bookworm Adventures code as a pack in?

Worked for vision even tho Totemball is AWEFUL!

That'll probably be the biggest hurdle facing Bookworm. From what I understand, I don't believe Microsoft allows any game to use a USB keyboard or mouse as an alternative to the primary control input, even if it's just an optional control scheme (I'd love to be wrong on this point, though). That's why Shadowrun supports both control types (keyboard and mouse, controller) in the PC iteration, but only the controller on the 360.

Still, that didn't stop them from putting Bookworm on the Game Boy Advance and I'm sure it won't stop them here either. And who knows, maybe they'll let it slide due to the nature of Bookworm. One can hope, at least, as that would open the door for Typing of the Dead.

While Popcap didn't release a PR, they said in an interview that the coversion rate of games on XBLA is "an order of magnitude" better than on the PC.

Yea, that what I meant to say. Thanks for the clarification.

Read it again, he is talking about the "buy through rate" which is probably the same thing as the conversion rate.
Any news on Hexic 2? There are tons of people out there who love Hexic.

DCX

Apart from the little fun games and leaderboard challenges with my friends and finding myself getting really sucked into the whole social co-op games (Uno, Poker, Heavy Weapon etc..)

And I'm finding this a great little way in which me and many of my buds keep returning to Live Arcade.

What other games hinted at or up coming would also be great little games to sit around with friends and play?

Checkers, Chess & any board game conversions would be a dream. Worms & Castle Crashers are the only games annouced I can think of for this kind of experiance.

Just attended an MS Gaming Day, which mostly talked about advertising in and around the gaming world.

Nothing too crazy to report, except they showed a game listed as "coming soon" called Wingmen. It was basically a 4 player side view shooter, it looked VERY cool, nice graphics with a retro feel to the whole game. Think gradius V but w/ 4 player co-op, though I'm sure it wont even touch GV is terms of awesomeness. Unfortunately I can't find any screens online. Anyone ever hear of it? It's supposedly coming out in a few weeks.
