Damn, I feels so stupid. I really can't find Tetris Splash.
I've looked through the Puzzle genre page, and "All downloads" page, and I still can't find it. Wth? Europe btw.

It never came out for us europeans.

Tetris Splash Drops Onto Arcade This Wednesday
Ready to get addicted again? This week's Xbox Live Arcade game is Tetris Splash, an update of the classic puzzler that adds new features and a slippery-when-wet new look. It'll be available from 10am BST on Wednesday, October 3 for 800 MS Points, BUT - unfortunately Tetris Splash will only be available in the UK and Ireland. Apologies to Tetris fans outside of the UK and Ireland.

What the F. Now I'm pissed. I can't come up with ONE reason to make that a logical decision.

____

btw, is there some list of 3-4 player splitscreen multiplayer games on the Arcade?

Gowans007 said:
really??? I bought it?
Oh, yeah, maybe it did come out in the UK too. The rest of us don't get to play it, though! I'm still annoyed by it, especially since MS didn't want to tell us about it and let us get excited right up until the release when we basically had to figure out that we weren't getting it by ourselves.

I guess this is what ozzies feel like!

I can't come up with ONE reason to make that a logical decision.
I can't really figure it out either. It has be something to do with Tetris Evolution and country-based licenses, but that sounds stupid. I don't know, maybe the Tetris company charges devs based on how many countries they want to release in?

Rocky & Bullwinkle: This, surprisingly, was a lot of fun as well. It's by the Pinball FX guys, and it's a Wario Ware clone. Tons of wacky and fun little minigames and videoclips from the show, and the entire game carries on the look of cheap animation that the show had. Pretty respectful of the show, I thought, and it's amazing how few license-based games bother to pay any respects to the source. (I mean, when they're not adventuring, the Shrek crew hangs out on giant see-saw contraptions and roll balls all day? Wat.)

Hmm.....Pinball FX guys.....Wario Ware.....Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoon......

Call me crazy but that sounds like a lot of win.

Yeah, Tetris has some insane licensing complications... I got some UK points and downloaded it with a UK account though :D
How does one do that stuff? I'd like some US points for Tetris and Spongebog (achievement whoring) and some JP points for japanese SOTN (original voices + I can have 200 in both versions!).

Yeah, when we first downloaded it, we were cracking jokes about how much it was going to suck. Then we played and were like "wow, it's actually fun!"

As always, though, what I post is only quick impressions. I never have the time to really dig deep into the games when I'm at the office.

Any word what we can expect this week? Even rumors. Enjoying the crap out of Omega Five and I hope we get a decent follow up week.

REZ HD is like the carrot being held in front of the jackass (Me). :D

400 pts is basically $5, which is essentially what you pay for, for a month of Live. Seems pretty fair to me.
If purchased individually, a month of Live is $7.99, which pushes it closer to 800 points than 400.

I think it's Ikaruga ( I think it was that which was reviewed then swiftly removed from TXB)

And another game passed certification, I forget what, maybe that. But most likely the game that was reviewed..

It was N+ that just passed certification, also Poker Smash is really close to being done, we could also see Discs of Tron or Battlezone this month as well.

Oh, if it's N+ and Poker Smash, I'm going to have to quit my job and drop out of school and just play all day. So awesome.

And, yeah, Discs of Tron sounds very likely as it's been lying around as long as Tron has. Battlezone is another one that's been lying unreleased for aaaages.

fuuuck E4 is incredible. I started it this evening and I just finished a game with 18 trillion points, it lasted for an hour :lol I still need to figure out how to time those beat bonuses though. But man, what an awesome game.

Wait till you try R4: The Revenge. Makes the entire game play totally different.

Am close to having spent 40,000 points on XBLArcade stuff so far. Bought Tron & Omega 5 the other day. Tron sucked (crappy controls...Arcade > Console version...yet again), but Omega 5 was loads of fun.

You do realize there are demos of every XBLA game, right? It's just funny that you would purchase Tron and then complain about crappy controls.

Is Discs of Tron similar to the Intellevision version? Cause that game kicked so much ass when I was little.

Yeah I tried it, but I like the other modes better. I love just sitting there and watching the fireworks :)

Rerendered in higher resolution, if I recall.

It is rendered in a higher resolution than the arcade version but the Tate mode (Full screen) is just upscaled from the windowed horizontal mode so it's better that the arcade/DC/GCN resolution but it's not HD.

Ikaruga and N+ would be such a spectacular combination.

Discs of Tron was an arcade cab and possibly the coolest cab outside of the sitdown cockpit version of Atari Star Wars. You actually STOOD inside of it and a blacklight would make your clothes glow. Awesome as all hell. They also produced a normal cab of it but it was nothing special after this bad boy.

The Intellivision Discs of Tron was an entirely different game titled "Tron: Deadly Discs", it's awesome as hell and is probably my favorite INTV cart ever.

I implore anyone who is having issues with Tron's controls on XBLA to change the control settings in the options to method option "C" (I think it was C?). It allows you to aim the tank cannon and Tron's arm in the MCP core level with the right stick being pushed into the direction you want to aim. Works INFINITELY better although it's still not 100% acceptable over the original machine's spinner.

BTW, I don't get the draw to E4...Frankly I thought it sucked then again, I didn't like Lumines either. REZ on the other hand, that is good people. :)

id like if they ported the ps1 frogger 1/2 over to xbla, despite some negative reviews I enjoyed them.
Was that the 3d ones that had a rotating camera and kind of tasks to do? if so those 3D froggers were pretty awesome for what I played of their demos.

It's really good. The only problem is having the motivation to keep going after losing a large multiplier in the unlimited game. Best bonuses aren't so vital in unlimited, but in the time limited game they're the difference between an epic score and a terrible one.

Frogger 2 seemed to be working now. Played it for a bit, but won't mention anything since.. well, I like my job and don't want to get in trouble :)

Get on it aku:jiki ;)

Chessmaster Live from Ubisoft is supposed to release in January so that's most likely one of the games.

They've been pairing up the 800/400 pt games so I could see Chessmaster launching alongside N+. I don't think they would put out N+ right before the Burnout Paradise launch because it would get overshadowed. Maybe they learned their lesson from the disappointing XBLA sales during the Nov/Dec period. They might release Poker Smash on the 22nd or later because it doesn't need big launch numbers to drive sales as much as N+, because the name alone will draw interest from casual gamers.

Aww, Deadly Discs kicks so much ass.

Sapient - Where did anyone say that XBLA sales #s where not great for Nov/Dec? I didn't see a huge increase, nor decrease before and after the period. This past week, sales were above that of mid-November on a per-week basis. Each game is launching with more and more sales.

But MS does need a new scheme for attracting people to the Arcade - only 60% or so of Live users have ever bought an arcade game - yet the X360 is known for high attach rates. Every Arcade pack-in game got a huge boost over the Holidays, so people are obviously playing and liking the arcade games.

Maybe advertisements promoting the Xbox 360 Prems-Elites for their downloadable games?

Anyone know if Chessmaster will have full ELO rankings for online?
Yes, it does. Both online and offline (you pick offline opponents based on their ELO as opposed to just picking easy, normal or hard). If I recall correctly, the Chessmaster has a ranking of 2500.

There's even an achievement for beating someone with a higher ELO than yourself.

Well, I spent a pleasant afternoon going through my unplayed XBLA demos. Arkadian Warriors, Fatal Fury, and Geon, while not bought immediately, but seemed more fun than I expected them to. Rush'n Attack was painful garbage though. Golden Axe seemed a bit of alright.

I really hope the quake 3 we get is a full experience, it was probably my most played game of all time (did it off and on for like 7 years)

Can I get you to break that for just one little question? :D

If you played the first one a hell of a lot on XBLA... are you likely to be day one with the second?

Oh and wait there's no tate option for Triggerheart? That sucks.

Well, one or two of them do look like the stuff of madmen fervor. As far as Triggerheart goes, it is still WIP so that maybe added before release.

How much worse than a 1CC and A-ranking every level could they possibly do, though? I guess a one-lifer achievement, but that's about it.

Does Ika have a level select? Since the achievements for the A-ranks say "in any mode," I mean.

This is going to be annoying.

It's a Brain Training clone straight up, but in BT you can get Brain-Age 20 on your first attempt if you're smart and fast, but I owned the puzzles I did in Brain Challenge and I got a whopping 0% Brain Usage. Has to be some cumulative thing then, I mean. And I hate these games that require you to play every day to keep some kind of record going. (Currently hating how I have to rack up the days played to unlock stuff in Picross DS, for example.)

They might be doing an unlockable level select mode, seems like what this Replay Mode would be.

IIRC, it's only about 20 days to unlock all the Daily modes. I've got 170 days and counting on mine.

Wouldn't replay mode be for downloadable replays?

I know, but it's still an annoying game mechanic. Either let me unlock shit through skill or don't lock it at all, please.
