marble blast is only 400 now because it's an arcade hit. It's a shoe-in

Most 400 point games are retro games, but Marble Blast Ultra (as Darunia mentioned) is a good non-retro one. Another one you should check out is Jetpac Refuelled.

I came across 3800 points :lol I'm going to wait until Microsoft unveils this 'free' game so I don't fuck myself over. Does anyone know how much Ikaruga and Poker Smash are going to cost?

So I grabbed Geometry Wars Galaxies today, and it's awesome. But I want it on XBLA. Whatever happened to that? Didn't someone find a pause menu somewhere in some trailer, and the menu had achievements listed?

From what I understand Boogie Bunnies is a part and parcel rip-off of Bust-A-Move.
No, it's not. I already posted in the thread that it isn't. :P

It doesn't have the bouncing mechanics at all. It's more like an upside-down Tetris with color-combining instead of, uh, tetriseses. I kinda liked it, maybe mostly because it was pretty easy and all the puzzle games on XBLA so far are really hard (to me anyway).

What is the best control solution for Pac-Man Championship Edition? The game is really awesome but I find the Xbox controller inadequate. Is that Atari style joystick that I see in some places worth it?

How the hell do some of you "come across" some xbla points?

And more puzzle games please~ (preferably non-action based. I'm actually surprised there's no Solitaire "fake" Mahjongg/Shanghai yet)

Getting 'lucky' with a 200 point giveaway. I was lucky enough to get 200 points 7 times.

AND PACMAN CE OH YES YES ALL OVER MY SCREEN. DAMN that's a good game.

Probably not, since I don't think it's a 4-way stick. It's pretty ruff on an 8-way - using my DOA stick was wayyy worse than using the 360 controller.

There are wired Hori controllers that look like they may have an acceptable d-pad but I've never used one myself.

what's wrong with the analog stick on the pad for that game?

Pretty irritating E4 experience yesterday: I spent an hour on a game , getting as high as a 95x multiplier, close to 100 for the achievement. Then out of the blue I crash :( That's one issue I have with it: it takes you so long to build up this big multiplier and when you crash, you've had enough of the game for a while. It's fun watching the fireworks and seeing your score skyrocket, but you can only sit there for so long. Do any of you who played the game know if there's a quick way to get a high multi? Sometimes I see the meter moving when I get a high combo, but most of the time I don't. What causes this to happen? Then only way I get the multi up is by quickening and collecting the blue items, but even that's slow as hell.

:lol I can't help you with E4, but it certainly reminds me of my Lumines experiences where I play for around two hours then drop a piece onto a row that hasn't fully "disappeared" and then proceed to cry at the end game sound and screen. That's happened to me about six times. Still keep coming back for more though.

I'm starting to suspect that Poker Smash is going to be the free game given by Microsoft. It was developed with the help of Microsoft right?

Yeah I remember just staring at the screen for a minute as the superfast music drops back into the slow beat from the start. I sat there, dazed and confused, with pupils the size of saucers from the bright colors. It's literally an hour gone to waste. Even though I got 15 billion points or something, I wanted that multi.

From this Thursday in Japan at 10am until Sunday 7pm, the Messe Sanoh store at Akiba will be hosting Ikaruga XBLA freeplay demo stations. This either means that:

a) Ikaruga is the other game tomorrow and since it will be released at about 6pm on Wed, they're demoing it from Thursday morning onwards.

b) Ikaruga is next week's game and they're drumming up publicity in Japan even though no one owns a Xbox360 and everyone hates buying digital content.

Who's running XBLA these days?

I need to have a word with him because im starting to get annoyed...

Why is it on the arcade tab that all your trials and full games are grouped together?
I want the choice of being able to seperate the games I own from the ones I don't. If theres a way of doing it then by all means tell me and i'll shut up but I own so many games and have so many trials (and can't really be bothered to delete them as I have 89gb+ free space on my hard drive) that I want to be able to segregate them and make it easier to play the games I own...

Yeah it's fuqued up totalement. It didn't dawn on me at first, but the more time I spend with the 'Games' tab since the update, the more I realize how borked it is. Why is 'played games' not under the Games tab? I don't get that. The list of retail games you bought with their respective achievement list should be under that tab. The main tab should have these vertical tabs/restrictors:

- xbla games bought
- xbla trials (a restriction that's not there, like you said)
- retail game demos
- retail games played/achievement list of said game

plus the restrictors they have now: recently downloaded, last played, whatever. The way it is now makes no sense whatsoever. Why have a big Game tab when it doesn't even include a rundown of your purchased retail titles, but it does include demos? And why do the opposite thing with xbla and group trial and full games together there?

IGN XBOX 360 Reviews Boogie Bunnies
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/845/845747p1.html

5.0 Presentation
Standard Xbox Live Arcade stuff. Everything is just a little too overly cute, though.
4.0 Graphics
Framerate slowdown in this game? Seriously?
5.5 Sound
It works for what the game is but nothing here will blow any skirts up.
4.0 Gameplay
A puzzle game that’s barely functional. Co-op is decent, but online play is confusing.
4.0 Lasting Appeal
Gameplay that never changes comes together with uninteresting environments and game modes to make an extremely short experience.
4.1
Poor OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

There's kind of a clarifier in the text though... they said this gives people chance to play it earlier than its release "this winter".

Team Xbox Reviews Boogie Bunnies
http://reviews.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/1458/Boogie-Bunnies/p1/

Despite looking like a kids’ game, Boogie Bunnies is an addictive puzzler that requires some pretty quick thinking, as well as a fast trigger finger. The game starts off simple, but builds up to a maddeningly difficult pace. There are a few missed steps, though, that keep the game from being the Lord of the Dance. For starters, it’s way too easy to misjudge exactly where you’re launching your rabbit. If you look hard enough, you can see the lead bunny in the column waving to indicate where the shot will land. The problem is, the bunnies are so small and numerous, it’s hard to keep track of who’s waving and who’s just shuffling in place.

The other problem you’re likely to run into is a simple matter of color. Generally, no two colors are going to give you any problems. You’re not likely to mistake green for blue. The exception for this is the orange and red colors used in the game. These two are so close on the color scale in Boogie Bunnies, that it’s hard to tell any difference between them. As a result, you’ll curse more than once when you think you’re about to pull off a major combo, only to be left in a deeper dilemma than you were in before. What’s worse is that this could have easily been fixed by just replacing the orange rabbits with a different color, such as yellow or—here’s a novel concept—white.

Despite a few bungled dance steps here and there, Boogie Bunnies is still a strangely addictive experience. The game’s cutesy exterior may require the player to take a shot of insulin before playing, but the gameplay is hard to walk away from. If you’re in the market for a new take on a classic puzzle game, it’ll probably be worth two-stepping over to the Live Marketplace and giving this game at least an audition

7.5, Good

I was at around 300 trillion, two and a half hours in, when my cat fucked me over and cost me my 100x multi. To be honest I could have kept going all night and the next day if I never lost concentration.

Beyond ensuring you collect your time bonuses there isn't much strategy to the unlimited game. Some of the scores on the leaderboards are absurd on the basis of the amount of time these people must of spent. 5 quadrillion in unlimited, 11 quadrillion in the WizMusic mode? Eff that. I was hitting 5 trillion point chains every few minutes and was still getting nowhere.

Now time limited mode, that's where E4 really shines.

bionic commando remake coming in 2008 for xbla and psn:

Bionic Commando-Remake für PSN und XLA

16.01.08 - Capcom arbeitet an einem Remake des NES-Klassikers Bionic Commando (1988) für das PlayStation Network und Xbox Live Arcade. Das geht aus der aktuellen Famitsu hervor. Release: 2008 (Europa)

Like I said in the Famitsu thread, I wonder whether the remake will sport the charachter model of the new game or if they'll go for a new look. The former would be the most logical choice, in order to increase awareness of the new game. I'd prefer the latter though

From what I have heard, the dashboard area is WOEFULLY understaffed because frankly MS doesn't think much of it.

It's a remake of the NES/Famicom version, done by GRIN, supervised by Ben Judd. It will include new hidden areas and connections to the new game. The reason why we know it's the NES/FC version is because it's a remake entitled "Bionic Commando Master D Revival Project" including Nazi imagery and all. The arcade version had none of those.

Oh dear, I hope Eurogamer isn't right about this.

At that price, we'll probably end up advising existing fans to revisit it, and if this is all new to you and the idea of a game that inconspicuously binds a strong shoot-'em-up to music has you excited, we're confident you'll want to set aside those Microsoft Points whenever the game's released. Whispers from Microsoft point to late February, although Q remains quiet. Rez HD, however, does not; it serenades your senses in a way that a great many games since have struggled to emulate, and we'd like to see more of its kind on Microsoft and Sony download services in future.

Man, if that's the case that's really unfortunate especially since everything seemed to be pointing to Jan. Oh well, more time for Lumines and bring on Poker Smash.

so hows the new Pinball FX table? just bought it blind with with half of my free points.

Gonna wait till Turoks downloaded first tho

Yea, if that is the case, but with XBLA releases being so volatile who can really tell anymore?

I love Pinball FX and downloaded the Nightmare Mansion table...

A ton of sounds remind me of old Midway/Bally games... like Alladin... very cool table...

The table is sitting in a dark room and there is a window next to the table... lightning strikes once in a while... nice addition!
