How do you remove XBLA demos from your Achievements history? I heard the latest patch would fix this, but I can still see them in my summary.
I guess I'm a little bit late on this one.

You can't. It only applies to future games from the point of the firmware update onwards. Old ones are stuck there forever.

Apparantly adding "if Game(Gamerscore) = 0 then DisplayGame = false" is too hard for MS engineers to come up with.

Hopefully they did a better job on it than TRON. Especially where the sound is concerned.

I have my doubts since this is being handled by the same team (Other Ocean, the former Backbone Charlottetown) who ported the other Tron game.

Ahh.... the joy of the Live community... Playing Chessmaster: on thursday it was a joy, good and nice players. However Friday night seems to be the jerks nights. One 60 min games turned to be a trap, the player only make one move and send me a message "ah ah now you are stuck in this game for one hour" hoping that I would give up. His score was high so he should be doing that for a while. Since I need to have dinner I keep the game going on, receiving plenty of nasty messages. After 15 min he made a couple of moves and of course lost the game. Plenty of nasty messages. REP - and block communications. Another gamer simply send me a message after I lost a game (I consider myshelf a pretty good chess gamer, but I make some mistakes sometimes) I got a message saying that I should try checkers or domino cause chess isn't my game... Very nice. Avoiding Friday nights from now on...

On a side note, anyone knows how the rankings works? I know I should be higher players to go up, but it only gives me a few points. Losing is losing a lot of points. Sometimes I see people with just a couple of games higher than me who has 30+ victories and only a couple of losts.

I can't believe in this day and age these guys can't get the emulation of a 26 year old game nailed down on today's technology. I mean for crying out loud, even MAME has these games spot finish in terms of emulation and it's freeware. Tron's classic mode sound emulation sounds like complete shit and yet the "Updated" graphics mode (And I use that term loosely, as they look simply horrendous) has music that sounds fine. Major F up right there.

Then again, it doesn't help that the lack of true spinner controls either. Playing the tanks at the later levels is near impossible on the 360 without a proper control knob.

I'm a huge fan of these games and I just wish they'd take five freakin minutes to put some genuine care into their product. Backbone's logo has been making me cringe lately.

I recently snagged Ms. Pac-Man as well and man is the ghost A.I. F'ed up to high hell. A shame too because so far Namco's stuff has been very well done.

Wrong. Pac-Man: Championship Edition is the only good "port" they released on Xbox Live Arcade so far.

Heh, i remember when i used to play PES6 1vs1 on live. Anytime i won, i got a negative reputation and a voice or text message where i was basically insulted with every name possible :lol

I said, "Very well done"...Not perfect. Ms. Pac-Man's issues were more noticeable to me than Galaga's, Dig Dug's or Rally-X's and even then it was mainly the A.I. issues for me.

Now something like Time Pilot, I love it but this port/emulation has issues as well. In the original arcade the parachutists wouldn't vanish the moment they would leave the screen for instance. I've learned to deal with it but nagging details like this make me say WTF overall when it comes to emulating a game that is over 25 years old.

Another thing, why in the HELL are these games so freakin huge as well? Isn't Tron something like 50 megs? WTF? (I'm at work so I can't check).

I wanted a 360 for Pac-Man: C.E. back in September and haven't regretted it yet. Amazingly incredible game. :D

Casual and hardcore gamers alike won’t want to miss this highly polished addition to Xbox LIVE Arcade.

For the Achievement junkies, “Poker Smash” contains 12 Achievements with a total of 200 points, including: “Score of the Gods,” which requires gamers to reach 1,000,000 points; “The Thinker,” which requires gamers to unlock all puzzle groups; and “Pack Rat,” which is awarded after gamers unlock all 11 in-game themes.

Additionally, the Xbox LIVE Arcade classic “Crystal Quest” will receive a free gameplay update this week. Developer Stainless Games has added a fresh twist to the puzzle action by incorporating a score multiplier. This update will make the game slicker and faster than before and opens up the possibility of even higher scores!

The score multiplier increases every time gamers pick up a crystal, but failing to pick up a crystal or getting zapped negates the multiplier. To keep a level playing field, old Leaderboards will be retired after the update, but will still be viewable for posterity’s sake. The update also includes improvements to downloadable content, which is part of Stainless Games’ ongoing commitment to constantly improve the player experience. Look forward to trying out Poker Smash as for the PR guys calling the update a "Free Gameplay update" christ they sound like douches, as if it would be worth anything.

Nothing about Crystal Quest is worth playing.

Uh, that's wrong on a few levels.
Most of them are quick 'n easy ports with pretty borders and nothing else. Pac-Man: CE is the only exception right now. Namco hardly puts some effort into their ports (again: other than CE) and they even exclude content that was available in other versions of the same game. Galaga for example has no co-op whatsoever and I'm pretty sure they released a version before that did have co-op. And then there's the fact they sold two Pac-Man games before (one of which was free on the original Xbox Live Arcade) before they provided us the Championship Edition.

Either way, I'm not a fan of how they're doing business on XBLA.

Pirates vs. Ninjas is "best looking" on XBLA
News by Rob Purchese

Loud indie publisher Gamecock believes Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball will be the best looking title on Xbox Live Arcade.

Speaking exclusively to GamesIndustry.biz about the company's European plans, boss Mike Wilson said he reckons XBLA is better established than PlayStation Network.

"Everyone who's into independent games is pretty excited by Xbox Live. [Pirates vs Ninjas Dodgeball is] due in February and it will be the best-looking title on the service. It might take off bigger than a lot of these boxed games have done," said Wilson.

"Sony really wants this Pirates vs Ninjas game we're doing for Xbox Live and we're platform agnostic, so if we're investing in a title let's give it a chance wherever there is one.

"The market's not there yet but it will be, and it's nice that you don't have this 150MB limitation. It will be interesting to see how it emerges."

In order, we have no idea when Ikaruga is going to drop, it is on Partnernet, but that does not mean much.

As far as Euro board games goes, you are in for quite a wait seeing as how Alhambra is dead and Talisman is in dev hell.

Hopefully they will drop the price on AH1 to 400 pts when the new one comes out. I liked the demo but 800 seemed steep for the game.

800 pts is worth it. One of the few games I actually bought points to purchase the game.

I'm starting to think that XBLA should not announce any games until the day before it comes out. Each game release is dwarfed by bellyaching about "X" game thats not out yet. Release Rez: Bitching about Ikaruga. Release Ikaruga: bitching about N+. It's tiresome.

Pulling some internet Matlock-ery on the ESRB website made us realize that the ratings board re-rates all titles added to the Xbox Originals platform. Listed are the current crop of games available like Burnout 3: Takedown, Fuzion Frenzy and upcoming titles like Ninja Gaiden: Black. Suspiciously on that list were a few other gems that look like they'll be getting the Xbox Originals treatment, including: Dead or Alive 3, Metal Arms and Raze's Hell. Other listings found were Ultra Bust-a-Move and Guilty Gear X2 #Reload, however there are rumblings that these titles could be full fledged XBLA games. Rumor mill for the time being, but time will tell.

Go Metal Arms Go!

Also, I've gathered up the recent "Surfer Girl-esque" rumor reports and commented on them:

http://www.xblah.net/2008/02/rumormongering-jetpac-sequel-perfect.html

Skaterboy claims:

- "Vigilante 8 Arcade is still coming to XBLA later this year."

Indiana Dunes proposes:

- "Nick Burton and the Rare team that brought you Jetpac for XBLA are currently working on a fresh HD update to Lunar Jetman."

- "ReVolt coming to XBLA late 2008/early 2009"

- "Geometry Wars "2" will be for both XBLA and PSN, published by Activision"

I've seen the videos so they can't possibly be serious. I would give Undertow the technical nod and Rez HD the artistic one, and just I hope that Gamecock can get the framerate up in the final version so we can at least have a halfway decent Poy Poy clone.
