OH MY GOD ARMORED CORE PSP SUCKS SO BAD

...that I had to make a thread about it.

I feel like I'm using Microsoft Mech Wizard to "create" my character. Then I get to "program the A.I." (set a few 2D sliders) and watch my mech fight in boring-ass battles.

I've always hated From Software; apparently the feeling is mutual.

Otogi is the only good thing the company has ever done. Evar. Srsly. And I feel kinda dirty liking that game, since it's from From.

:lol What in the hell? I was wondering how the hell it played with all the camera changes on the IGN videos. My interest in this game has fallen through the floor.

On the other hand, Otogi (2) is so crazy good it wipes their slate clean. Also, you know Metal Wolf Chaos looks to be GOTY 2005. Don't even try to deny it!

When I said "Otogi," I meant the series.

And yes, Cookies and Cream is fun. That actually slipped my mind. APOLOGIES SER.

As far as I can tell there's no "quick battle" option, so you have to watch the whole thing every time...

All parts seem to be available from the start...

Is there any sort of money or garage?

There's like 500 stats per part...

Oh God I hate this game and my job

My frothing demand for this product decreased a long time ago.

... i've managed to win the first X many battles without changing ANYTHING!

Suits and Ties - HEY, leave that out of it! We have to wear suit and ties and we could write a better game than this! ;)

Imagine Carnage Heart without the programming and you're on the right track.
Got that from the IGN impressions the other day and was disappointed. I was hoping to have deeper control over the AI programming. Is it at least a bargain release over there or is the same price as the likes of Minna and RR?

it's the same price as Mingol / Ridge.

not to worry - AC!D is out thursday
and shin sangoku
and Mojipitan

Carnage Hearts was a great game in a lot of ways. The simplified AI programming in it was brilliant fun. A proper modern follow-up to that would be cool beyond belief.

Did Famitsu just recently review Metal Wolf Chaos? And give it like a 25? Or was I hallucinating? Or was it a fake score?

There was a follow up (Zeus: Carnage Heart) but it never came to the west. Man, I miss the PS1 days when SCEA would take a risk on localizing boutique SCEI oddities and try to actually expand the market. Tail of the Sun, Carnage Heart, Parappa the Rapper, etc... these days they're more like 1980s Nintendo. :/

How many sliders? Can you change mech parts?

I guess what I'm asking is, is there ANY strategy embedded in it at all, or is it actually a cleverly marketed graphics demo?

Man, talk about beating a dead horse. AC2 was one of the more worthwhile PS2 launch titles, Another Age was a great expansion with a lot of fanservice to the AC faithful, but it's been all downhill from there. AC3 felt like a rehash, and god, I spent $10 on Silent Line and still felt ripped off.

Six sliders.

You can change a SHIT TON of mech parts. If you ever wanted to specify the color of your radiator grill, this is the game for you. Unfortunately, parts are almost all entirely the same with only minor numerical differences. You can "tune" parts to make them lighter, stronger, etc. but this is just distributing ten skill points across five categories.

It's a very robust character creator without a game to support it. Imagine City of Heroes's create-a-hero, only for mechs, and with less variety in the options, and with no game attached. And that's being overly generous, cause City of Heroes' create-a-hero was actually fun.

It's fucking shite.

P.S. All parts are free and available from the start, there is no money in the game and you can use whatever parts you like immediately.
P.P.S. Maybe you get more parts added to your stock as you win league battles but there's definitely no money at all and I am not playing any more to find out.

The PSP interface is more fun than this.

What do you expect from a game company that fucking forces its employees to wear suits and ties?

WHAT THE FUCK.

I was seriously hoping this game would be like Carnage Heart when I first heard people talking about AI.

From Software sucks, as usual :(

King's Field PSP please!

I'm serious. That's a system-seller for me, as long as it's not a port of The Ancient City.

From are wildly inconsistent, but they gave me King's Field, Shadow Tower, and Frame Gride, so I'll love them forever.

Come on, From's Otogi guys are working hard on Metal Wolf Chaos, the AC team is slave laboring over ACE (which will ROCK) and that just leaves 2 cleaners and the senior janitor to work on AC PSP, what did you expect? :lol

King's Field PSP, Tenchu PSP and Armored Core DS are all in the works iirc. I actually wouldn't mind a Rune game on DS or PSP either, they were pretty decent ARPGs.

God,i hope ACE is good, but i'm putting zero faith in FROM until i see a finished product.

KING'S FIELD AM CRYING

Sounds like ass, though. Geez, with PSP WiFi, was there ANY reason not to make a legitimate AC game and add some crazy-ass Pokemon mech battling and part trading?

Also, Otogi 2 is your god.
