Yellowace is a stinkin' liar. He told me PS3 GPU would have 64MB of eDram and pixelshading only, and now look what's happening :D

Lying is my specialty. I am asian, what else do you expect me to do?!

Sometimes I think people forget this is an actual business and not a soap opera.

This thread reminds me of a classic episode of Charles in Charge which had the popular teenage daughter dating a not so popular guy. She was afraid that her popularity would be tarnished by the match, but the ever-wise Charles pointed out the valid point that perhaps her dating him would likely raise his popularity up to her level rather than diminishing hers down to his level. No wonder Charles was in charge!

Post of the year!!!! Love it...

and she grew up to be such a hottie too. :lol :lol :lol

We'll see who's desperate in a year or two.

I have a feeling it won't be Sony (well the game division anyway), but that's just my two cents.

I find it funny that anyone thinks Sony or Microsoft will be desperate in a year or two console-wise. :lol

I don't mind the XBox, and I think XBox 2 will do well. But I don't think it will touch the PS3, especially in Japan. The people who are just assuming that because ... well, Sony's been dominant so long that they should maybe let someone else ride the merry-go-round for pity sake .... well its just that line of reasoning I don't agree with.

I think actually a lot of the XBot faithful on this board will jump ship if (well when) they see PS3 is considerably more powerful and a true HD console with the Blu-Ray format.

It's easier for Sony to pick Microsoft apart (make a stronger console, get some good FPS and really its probably curtains) than for Microsoft to pick Sony apart. I don't think that's an unreasonable analysis of where the companies are at going into the next generation.

I also don’t think it’s an unreasonable analysis to say that when it comes to hype, Sony is no stranger to blowing it out their ass. I’ll be 1000% shocked and amazed if we see a fully spec’ed Cell in the PS3, with Blu-Ray. It will be cost prohibitive for Joe-Six-Pack (who makes up the majority of their sales); and totally unnecessary to maintaining their console lead nextgen. You assume, incorrectly IMO, that MS will not make an HD-type drive available as an add-on at some time during Xenon’s tenure if the demand predicates such.

You take MS way too lightly IMO. This is a war that will be waged over multiple console generations- not one or two. Sony will still be on top after nextgen, but my gut prediction is that MS will have lopped another 10-15% market share off of Sony’s lead by the time that MS is ready to put Xenon to bed and start hyping their next console.

This is the video game industry. Every game that comes out is innovative; every hardware decision is revolutionary. When the support is revealed, I'll be impressed...

Every feature is brilliant.

I remember reading a Money magazine in 2001 that said the Xbox is a 20 year plan. Take that as you will. Microsoft will be here for a while.
