Yeah. I don't know where he's from, but in the states, a "university student" is looked upon in a significantly more positive light than a "community college student". Hell, anyone who listens to Adam Carolla on Loveline should know that.
What the hell is a TAFE? And is the University of Wisconsin, Madison the american equivalent of a TAFE school?
Universities of Wisconsin equivalent to an Australian TAFE, that's ridiculous. Like most major U.S. universities U of W is probably better then any of the Universities in Australia.
Australia has two good universities - Sydney & Melbourne.
I'd say Melbourne is about a UW equivalent (Wisconsin). It's a Top 50 University in the world, which is probably the same as UW. However... I'd say the students at the University of Melbourne are a helluva lot smarter (they pretty much get their kids from both Australia and many countries around the Pacific Rim - A broader base than UW gets to deal with).

Those are community colleges in America. Here at universities, there are individual "colleges" -- aka the College of Business, etc. but the phrase "going to college" and "going to university" is interchangeable. You'd say "I go to a community college" if they just offer a 2-year degree.

No shit. That was the point I was trying to make, as I'm a student there while he suggested I'd be attending a TAFE if I were in australia....again, whatever the fuck a TAFE is (according to urban-dictionary it's not that great).
No, actually, most Canadian universities have their own School of Business. For example, UWO has Ivey School of Business, and UT has Rotman School of Business. Even Queens' have their own Queens' School of Business

Very odd... well, consider most big universities in both Canada and USA go with the name of "School of Business", I'll just stick with that I've never heard of Yale's Faculty of Administration
