Current girl met through Match. Started saving for an engagement ring. It's all good (in my hood).
I met a couple of nice girls through OkCupid.
One of them was... kinda crazy, though. On our 2nd date, she kept saying "I don't date attractive guys" and "I don't believe in this online dating stuff" yet she kept bugging me about going out for a 3rd date. WTF mindgames?
I dropped her pretty quickly though.
Another we sort of hit it off, we made out on her couch but she stopped me going further (apparently I should've pushed through but hey) and on the next date she explained that she isn't ready for a relationship, blah blah blah, and that she doesn't know when she'd be ready for anything but that she really likes me. So I decided to go "Okay, so if she really does like me, she'll fucking contact me to hang out." No dice. So no more contact!
The good thing about these sites is that you should be able to meet up with people regardless of who you are and what you look like. Hell I'm nowhere near being what anybody would consider attractive and I went on a bunch of dates with a bunch of girls. It'll give you a good headstart with dating and stuff, if you're the.. inexperienced kind. Now I'm dating someone I met online, we're heading into our 5th month together and it's going very well, so it does work.

-watches and loves the same shows I do (The Shield, Breaking Bad, Archer)
-buys me awesome gifts for Christmas and birthday (Batman hoodie, concert tickets to a band I've always wanted to see, etc.)

Anyway, we're perfect for each other, and it is all thanks to OKCupid (and GAFs girl-age thread which encouraged me to join OKC in the first place)

I think these websites do a good job at sorting out people, and it's up to you to make it work. 90% of the girls I've met are close to perfect for me, but some are indeed a bit crazy/damaged. Cute awesome girls usually have a buffet of real guys that are after them, so it takes some event or events to push them over into trying online dating (unless they just moved into town and want to meet people).

A relationship is probably not going to work if you've got no experience. Basically, you might be saving your first actual LTR if you have sex a few times before. And christian or atheist doesn't really matter for casual sex, does it?
