Wow, that really looks fantastic. I can't believe Capcom pulled this off. If the extra features include a slew of new weapons I'm definitely picking this up. If Ada is somehow playable in the main game then I'm even more giddy.

This looks quite inferior to the Cube version to my eyes, but I still think it looks damn fantastic, which goes to show you how good the game actuall looked. It is obvious that the game has worse IQ, lower res textures in a lot of places and there are some modeling hits. I won't harp on the lighting as that is usually one of the last graphical touches to be applied. Looks great, but noticably different from Cube in a few areas.

It's the result of viewing a low-bitrate streaming internet video as opposed to actually seeing it in person. In video form, the differences are not really very noticible.
The ONLY thing that I bitched about in regards to the GC version could not possibly be seen in such a video. The image quality was poor and the dithering really hurt the otherwise amazing visuals. Those are the only complaints I've had about the games visuals. The PS2 version is likely just as bad in that regard and also introduces a number of other downgrades. It would be incredibly obvious in person, but not so much in video.
Honestly, the reaction is one of suprise. I expected the best looking game ever made out of the GC version, and the flaws were disappointing. However, I expected a SERIOUS downgrade on the PS2 (like XBOX Splinter Cell -> PS2 Splinter Cell) and am quite shocked at how accurate it turned out.

dark, did you maybe watch the wmv stream and not the mov (which is locked)? Of course I understand that seeing it in real life vs just video will make a big difference, but there were still a handful of scenes that jumped out as downgraded - generally the darker ones, plus just a general drop in sharpness. The cut-scenes, btw, seemed to be identical.

Unless the PS2 extras are a new minigame and an extra cutscene thats the equal to the Wesker kicking Chris' butt in CV scene not interested. I've beaten it on GC like 6 times. Part of me hopes it bombs on PS2 so Capcom learns not to do stupid things like announce you're porting a game before the original is out.
