Oldest GAF member accounts that are still active?

It was ? News to me. Everybody wanted to be part of Gaf.
Haters are gonna hate
And there it is. The reason many stayed and thought Gaf was the greatest thing since sliced bread when in reality it was a bad circus. Being a part of that exclusively made them feel special and gave them a holier-than-thou attitude.

Edit - anyway I'm just going to stop there. Any time I've mentioned how bad this forum used to be it rubs certain people the wrong way and that's not my intention.
I think its in a good place now and nothing like it was.

You can read thoughts now ...lol
Maybe some people stuck around because they developed a friendship with some members ,stop while your ahead your just digging a deeper hole playing armchair psychologists

2004 here, with a GAF account before that too. I always laugh when I see people who signed up in 2018 chirping people for being newbies.

Tesseract Tesseract

it's all fun and games until they lead you down a flight of steps and shank you in the dark

I've been on GAF since 2002. Current iteration of NeoGAF has me marked as 2004, I think that's when the forum transfer happened.

GAF is now as good as it ever was, a fun, relaxing place to talk about stuff with grownups.

I've only been lurking since 2012. Tried joining using both a personal student mail account and a governmental mail account, but never heard anything, so continued lurking until 2018 when I got a membership due to things opening up. I'm in the age that I could've been active on the old Gaming Age forum, but back then it was FFinsider forums and EyesonFF forums (and likely something before that as well) and Tibia forums I usually hung out. Then later Bad Religion forums, various Norwegian forums and then later OneManga forums. Then I think I just fell off a bit, probably also because Facebook became a thing, though I never did use it much. Too much things happening in RL for me to spend too much time discussing and debating on the net. But found GAF sometime in 2012, mostly due to speculations about the next gen.

For all of you old-school members: do you still have access to the email address you used to sign up? Better yet, do you even remember the email address you used to sign up?

Pretty sure I switched mine when I upgraded my internet service, don't really remember tho.

nope but at some point I was able to update it

Looks like I joined in November 2006. Im old as dust. I hardly post here any more but I do lurk fairly regularly. I also lurk at the other place but have no interest in joining that cesspool. Hope GAF continues for many years.

I bought a MAF shirt, that must've before NeoGAF. Had an account at GAF and signed up here shortly after it went up

I've been lurking since 2006 or so. I discovered a game called Everyday Shooter from this forum and fell in love with it and that's when I decided I would come here for all my gaming needs. I actually didn't register until 2015 though.

I'm interested in hearing from individuals like this. Those that have spent a huge chunk of their lives here, what keeps them devoted after a decade and will they ever leave?

Well I was (unwillingly) gone for a while.

But this place is a home online.

That Web Archive of the original GAF brings back memories.

Account approved in January of 2005, if I recall. Never been a huge poster, but I've always enjoyed reading the topics here. While boards seem to be trending down as the younger generation enjoys more immediate communications, I'm happy to see this place at a more sane pace and atmosphere. While NHL-GAF left, I felt no need to throw away my privileges and account.

It's just nice to be able to actually see discussions here that aren't ban graveyards. One can actually state an opinion without worrying of being punished for that alone.

Not that I'm super active but this place has become a habit of mine to frequent again over the past year or 2.

I enjoy this place and am glad to see others do so as well.

Well let's see...we're talking about a time in my life where I weighed mid-upper 200's and wore a black shirt with a big red angry face on it because I thought it was funny. I guess I don't need to tell you I was drowning in pussy back then...

I lurked here since at least 2012, but my account is only 2 years old. Made GAF and Era accounts at the same time.

Joined OG GAF in 2000 and was here through the other iterations like the ezboards before NeoGaf opened and was grandfathered in. I remember when the last ezboard went down and wondered if that was it as IIRC Opa Age was 'enjoying' that GAF was dead.
