Dear Opa-Ages denizens,

I am writing you on the behalf of the Gaming-Age™ Forum, a little corner of the Internet inhabited by decent common folk working hard to earn a living and whom enjoy the pasttime of videogamery. I'm not sure if you've heard of it, but we've heard of you! ... Well, those who have banned a few times at least.

Recently, we accepted a challenge from an obnoxious outsider who posts under the alias Leguna and a sanctioned match ensued. Our best six against his so-called "Dream Team". The forum clan thrashed his team completely. Destroyed them without mercy. There was much defecation and/or humiliation. If you have some spare time and are in dire need of some instant humour, I suggest you view the gigantic threads on both the initial challenge and the equally hilarious rematch:

Our bellies full of pride after a delicious feast of victory, we've decided to move past our little forum and stretch our land legs. Quite simply, we desire a new challenge. A truly challenging challenge. My suggestion? To formally request a sanctioned match against our Internet brethren, and as one of our earliest rivals since the inception of broadband, you'd represent one of our most daunting matches yet!

So it is with great pleasure, as an official representative of the Gaming-Age™ Halo 2 clan, that I formally invite your forum to a sanctioned match pitting your best seven Halo 2 contestants against our best seven on Sunday, December 5th at 8:30 PM EST. In a best three of five format, which will alternate gameplay modes, maps and settings depending on an outline of conditions that is to be drawn up by both parties following an official confirmation, the contest will simply put our best against your best (whether it be forum cronies, friends and/or family).

To the victor goes an overwhelming pride that they beat the best that their fellow opponent had to offer, and to the loser goes neverending shame that only seppuku can erase.

I'd suggest the tournament to be as follows:

1. Best of Three on Team slayer.
(maps - lockout, beaver creek, ??)


2. Best of Three on CTF.
(zanzibar, beaver creek, waterworks)


3. Best of Three on assault.
(burial grounds, coagulation, midship)

Whoever wins 2 of the three of these modes wins.

I tried to post exactly this in the thread which just got locked.

Make it happen willco. And since this matchup would be quite the ribbing if we lost, we should schedule in some selection style matches, say this sunday at 8pm EST play some GAF 7vs7 of these modes exactly, invites only and top 7 (after much viewing of stats and discussing in thread, Willco essentially having final call since hes rigging this shit) go through to play?

Ill put my hand up to play for the right to play.

I agree completely. We have a lot of time until the match, so let's use it wisely. I think it goes without saying that op1vy, Wario64, Ramirez, NutterButter, Fifty, DopeyFish, cubsfan, Lemming and LyteEdge all have open invitations to the scrimmages.

This time around, we will seriously have to send our seven best, because OA is no "Dream Team". They're pretty damn good and they will humiliate us if we don't take 'em seriously.
 
Hmm, should be a good show down. I can't play cos I don't even have Halo 2 yet, let alone XBL, but I'm probably buying my kit tomorrow.

Don't suppose the game allows spectators? That'd be awesome

7 on 7 was agreed upon by our prestigious clan members. I think 6 or 7 players are allow for more balance in the CTF maps. With 16 players, it's easy to get stalemates in my opinion.

No more 90 minute matches!

Quite frankly, if we lose, the entire forum will probably never hear the end of it. Opa-Ages is like our little sister, but she's grown up and all hawt and trying to be all independent and shit.

Could do, I actually find 6 on 6 to be the best, 8 on 8 really allows for the possibility of lag as well. there always seems to be someone lagging on 8vs8 (especially on headlong).
 
Good, it's next sunday....I couldn't have played this sunday. Sundays in general aren't good for me, because of football, but I'll probably be there, if the rest of the guys are.

If Gabe & Co. do accept our challenge, I see no reason why we can't play them afterwards as well.

This is just like the olympics. I don't give a shit about any GA members vs. other GA members. But when it comes to playing against ANOTHER forum (opa ages of all places) I get all prideful and crap.

I also couldn't help but notice that our very own Mike Works was spotted fraternizing with the enemy on Xbox Live. Probably giving them inside information on our tactics, preferred methods of transportation and personal profiles on our service men.

jeesus after reading their equivalent of this thread..... doesn't sound like a fun game. sounds a bit more like when you get on line against a bunch of dicks that won't shut up really.

I played a few games with some of them I think, the best one i have seen would be that bigtroll guy. He was on my team for waterworks and he racked up 29 kills. I was second with 14, but most of my time was spent sneaking for the flag. He seems to know his Halo though.

personally I would be more interested in playing the penny arcade guys, if only to see their writeup about it.
 
If we play against PA I really really really really want in on that. They owe me for years of horribly unfunny comics. and they will pay with their blood.

I definitely think GAF should look deeper into the ranks this time and probably audition more people.

il just do practice rounds since i wont get picked for the 7 anyways since people sleep on the skills, and after reading some of the "qoutes", it would probably better that way.
 
Are there going to be tryouts for this? I'd definitely be interested, but I haven't had a chance to play with anyone from GAF yet. Damn clan just had to fill up. >:(
