It's Bookers' shield. That's just the effect (obviously paused at just the right moment) when you get hit.

I didn't even notice the cracked glass look. Good call.

When this week is over regardless whether im done with crusader and civ or not im gonna start reading superman all star and blood meridian and hopefully I'll be able to finish both books before Infinite comes out.
