One month from today: BioShock Infinite

His hate is kinda justified. If he means that Bioshock is (actual spoilers)
a story taken pretty much from System Shock, some of the gameplay being similar, and even similar circumstances (it really is stretching it, so I am not in this side of the coin).

If he means by some other aspect of the game, I really can't agree.

it's super rigged, we all know it, no one wants to challenge it in case we stop getting free stuff.

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole bar filling stuff, honestly. However free XCOM sure is alluring.

He and Derrick are probably making out right now.

Pretty much. They took SS2, removed most of the interesting stuff like skills, classes and resource management and turned it into a mediocre shooter.

Knew it! Derrick thinks this too, so the jokes are justified. Bwahaha.

Man, they've sure come a long way of Elizabeth's design. I love her current design, it really is the best of them all. The first one was kinda awkward to be honest!

I agree. Haven't seen the updated version since I've been on a pretty strict blackout for a while but she looks great there. Much more naturally proportioned all around and she fits in more with the other characters' designs.

Don't exaggerate. There are plenty of people who love both, including me.

Put me in that club as well.

Honestly, I think the criticims levelled at this game will be similar. I suspect it will be praised for its setting, presentation, story and overall production values while being criticized for playing too much like Bioshock.

Don't exaggerate. There are plenty of people who love both, including me.

And me. Bioshock left out a lot of SS2's nuts & bolts, but it made up for it in various ways.

And I always feel like I'm the only person who played SS2 when it came out and didn't find it to be particularly scary.

Pretty much everyone who has played SS2 thinks the same about Bioshock 1.

I mean, it's an opinion. Bioshock on itself has its flaws, but it's pretty great.

Hello Derrick I heard so much about you.

I'm also someone who enjoyed both, though I absolutely appreciate that SS2 innovated a lot of things that B1 used, such as audio logs
and the Polito scene
.

All the cool people agree that SS2 is far better than Bioshock, for example:

And you had to search for that?

Hehe, just kidding. But is EviLore's opinion better than mine? Is EviLore more of a man than me? Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow his opinion?

In what way? I'm going to enjoy you trying to pull this one off.

And don't try to fall back by saying the setting. Give me some depth in the explanation...something Bioshock didn't have in the gameplay department

I've got news for you, but there are people out there for whom gameplay is not the sole factor in evaluating a game's success.

Well if we were reviewing movies then I would care about that, but I don't. I don't need to hear a breakdown of some direct to DVD quality movie's story.

Maybe this is a dumb question but how does the hook thing stay on the rails with those circular supports every few feet?

You'd let that ruin the entire game experience, wouldn't you? ;p

Seriously though, I'd use my suspension of disbelief, otherwise there's numerous games with similar issues. Besides, there's more concerning issues, like,
floating cities.

I loved them both, but I will say having read Atlas Shrugged a week before I beat bioshock probably influenced my love of bioshock's story. Regardless, dat setting

Me as well.

I didn't really have a problem with Bioshock's combat. And the atmosphere and setting counted for a a lot. More interesting as a setting for me than the SS2 ships to be honest.

Mechanically, SS2 was pretty sweet, though. Love the classes.

Bioshock had better gunplay. It's not perfect (far from it), but the extra polish bought the combat itself to a level above System Shock 2.

I think System Shock 2 is a better game

He agrees with me, therefore, his opinion >>>> your opinion :p

SS2 had shit butt game play! Degrading weapons? Even Ken Levine himself admits that totally sucked!

Ken Levine also made Bioshock, his opinion about gameplay is worthless.

After finishing Bioshock back in 2007 (I was only 15 at the time), I wrote an essay on Objectivism for my Sociology class. Somehow, I got an A on it.

Thanks, Bioshock!!

Didn't look like that when I played on the ps3 recently.
It doesn't look like that anymore. They patched the shit out of it, so that the PS3 version now looks fine, aside from some frame drops here and there.

You should thank me. I joined the HD gen partly for BioShock, partly for Blu-ray Pan's Labyrinth, so I got a PS3, and when I saw Pixel Daddy, I was on the frontlines at the 2K forums, shitstorming for a patch, lol.

'Course, now I got the PC version that runs circles around it in terms of image quality (almost -too- crisp, to the point of looking sterile!), but still, PS3 BioShock is perfectly awesome now.

People were going crazy about that big daddy I remember. But this is going to be different so we see.
