See the basic cable part on my post.

HBO was spending on quality content since the 90's.
By the time FX / The Shield took the risk, HBO was already burning money hard on series (OZ, Sopranos, The Wire, Band of Brothers, Six feet under, Carnivale and later Rome)

Imho the turning point was these with 3.
Sopranos and The Wire (for Premium), and The Shield (for basic. And later BB, of course.)

ps. BoB too, although its miniseries. It's a different animal
I would put The West Wing in there too, though I don't know where that fits in the American formats of television.

Unreal era for tv shows.

First saw him in hateful eight then righteous gemstones when that first started, then fallout and I started watching the shield last year and was super surprised seeing him in it he's been around for a minute. I like watching him act plays a lot of diverse roles

Sorry I don't know what the difference is with basic cable ( not American).
I assume basic cable is just the tv channels everyone gets for free. Then I understand as this TV channel was being made for a network to the equivalent of something like a day time soap?

Dis you have to pay for hbo as a solo channel before they did online?

HBO was a separate package you had to pay for in the US. It didn't have ads.

The Shield is my favourite show of all time and Shane Vendrell (played by Goggins) is my favourite character of all time.

His story, from start to finish, is incredible.

I'm not (north) American too, but Cable tv works like that in the entire word? No?

You have the basic package, hundreds of channels like FX, AMC, news channel, some basic sport channels, etc, for a low entry price...
And you have the premium channels like HBO where you pay an extra fee for a couple of channels.
