Only reason Bonds is being accused of roids is because he is black, face it

And if you think Bonds took roids purposefully, you are a racist.

Bonds, dressed casually in a black shirt and jeans, was asked whether he thinks using steroids is cheating.

"I don't know what cheating is," he said. "I don't believe steroids can help your eye-hand coordination, technically hit a baseball. I just don't believe it. That's my opinion."

"All of you guys have lied," he said. "Should you have an asterisk behind your name? ... Yeah, I lied to my parents when I was growing up. Lied to my friends. Have I lied about baseball? Yeah, I told a couple of stories that I hit a couple of balls places that I really didn't."

Bonds believes he's being scrutinized more since he's closing in on Ruth.

"Because Babe Ruth is one of the greatest baseball players ever, and Babe Ruth ain't black, either," he said. "I'm black. Blacks, we go through a little more. ... I'm not a racist though, but I live in the real world. I'm fine with that."

Once again white America tries to hold back a black superstar. 'Hmm ... uh oh, he's about to pass the supreme white sports icon, Babe Ruth, in home runs ... wait lets make up some stuff about roids!'. Guys, get over yourself ... Bonds is the best baseball player in the history of sports .... and I think its pathetic you need some weak ass arguement about a couple of nutritional supplements to protect your white American sports icon. Get over your supremicist attitudes and recognize, or go put on your white hood.

yeah, Bonds has had such a tough life growing up as a young black man, with a rich, multimillionare baseball playing father.

Thank you .... support the cause brother!

Bonds grew up on the streets, didnt you hear? The guy who ran the 7-11 taught him how to read between his shifts of cleaning the hot dog machine and he took drugs but then quit and found jesus but now he's taking drugs again aparently which means he might just find jesus again.

I'm hoping this is sarcasm. The last sentence is so over the top that I'm leaning towards "yes", but from the rest it's hard to tell.

EDIT: Okay, guess it was sarcasm. :p

Exactly, there's a reason why Barry Bonds is the only Major League Baseball star to be accused of taking steroids....

Face it - not only is he a 'roid-addled freak (hey, guess what - he admitted to it in front of a federal grand jury!), but he's also the single biggest racist that exists in modern sports culture.

ALLEGEDLY admitted to it. You think you can beleive this media who has had it in for Bonds since day one?

too conveniently played the race card.

he should just come clean about the relationship he had with that questionable trainer friend of his as well as his relationship to balco and be done with it. Basically, most people are assuming he used steroids knowingly now that Giambi has come out with it. They're going to be assuming the worst, concocting their own stories and ideas.. he should just lay it all out there and salvage what's left of his ever meager public image.

I think he's staying tight lipped until atleast he retires because he knows that owning up to even some steroid use will mar his records.

P.S. I think he's the third best baseball player of all time (#1 Ty Cobb, #2 Babe Ruth, #3 Barry Bonds)

Ty Cobb: the most notorious racist in sports history

Babe Ruth: biggest white american icon in sports history

Lemme guess ... you wrote in David Duke for last year's presidential election too?

Examples unfortunately abound. One day while walking in Detroit, he stepped in freshly poured asphalt and was yelled at by Fred Collins, a construction worker who happened to be black. Cobb responded by slapping Collins, knocking him to the ground, and continuing on his way. He was charged with assault and battery and found guilty, but received a suspended sentence. Collins then filed a civil suit, which Cobb settled out of court for $75.

An unfortunate incident in Cleveland's Hotel Euclid forced Cobb to go through Canada to avoid arrest during the 1909 World Series in Pittsburgh. Late one Friday night, Cobb got in an argument with the elevator operator and slapped him. The night manager, a black man named George Stansfield, came to aid the elevator operator and ended up in a shouting match with Cobb. Stansfield then hit Cobb with his nightstick, and the two rolled on the floor. Cobb drew his knife and slashed Stansfield, while Stansfield drew his pistol and hit Cobb again with the nightstick. Stansfield filed both criminal and civil suits against Cobb, but later dropped the criminal suit. But the case was still pending during the World Series, with an arrest warrant out for Cobb. Police waited for the Tiger train through Ohio en route to Pittsburgh for the World Series to arrest him, but Cobb was going through Canada. The civil suit was settled for $100 and court costs.

These incidents pale in comparison with what happened at Hilltop Park in New York in May 1912, and what that episode triggered. A fan whom Cobb recognized as a regular heckler was sitting behind the Tigers' dugout verbally abusing Cobb. He and Cobb traded insults for a while, but Cobb wanted to avoid trouble, so he stayed in center field carriage park area during the second inning. In the third, he went by the New York dugout to look for the owner to ask to have the fan removed. When he got back to the Tigers' bench, he yelled something to the fan about his sister. The fan, Claude Lueker, responded to Cobb by calling him a "half-nigger." Sam Crawford asked Cobb if he would take that from the fan, at which point Cobb charged twelve rows into the stands and began to beat the fan vigorously.

It was at this point that people alerted Cobb to Lueker's handicap—he had lost three fingers on one hand and all of his other hand in an industrial accident. Police pulled Cobb off Lueker, and he was ejected. AL President Ban Johnson was at the game and, after hearing Cobb's side of the story, suspended him indefinitely. Then, for perhaps the first time, the rest of the Tigers supported Cobb, and said that they would not play again until Cobb was reinstated. The team arrived in Philly for a series with the Athletics, and Cobb suited up with the rest of the team. When the umpires told Cobb he couldn't play, the rest of the team changed into street clothes and went into the stands with Cobb. The Tiger management had expected this to happen and had some semi-pro players ready to play. The scabs lost 24-2. Ban Johnson then fined each Tiger $100 after Cobb urged them to play in the next game, and suspended Cobb for 10 games and gave him a $50 fine. It was a spontaneous, united, and effective players' strike, supporting Cobb for standing up for his rights in the face of a heckler.

I thought McGwire took steroids too, does that make me a reverse racist?

no, he just took steroid precursors, which were legal (at the time). Of course, Big Mac would be hit with the big fat ban stick by MLB if he took those now, so it does really tarnish his record slightly.

still, not that shocked, it was a different era, one I didnt even live in. Its about as shocking to me as the tribes that ate people's hearts

Hollywood:

Give me a fucking break you halfwit. While racism isnt gone, it certainly isnt at the peak it was back then.

God, people like you are worse than racists.

Hollywood...I expect a one-word answer to these questions. "Yes" or "no" is the valid value range.

1) Were you being sarcastic when you made this thread?

2) Do you think Bonds has been using steroids for the last several years?

3) Do you think that the ONLY reason Bonds is being accused is because of his race?

He's on steroids. Here are my reasons:

- People don't gain 30 pounds of muscle in three months.
- No one grow muscle in their FACE.
- This is pretty general, but, muscles are falling off of bones. Bodies usually adapt to muscle growth, except when it's ridiculous, artificial growth -- then they start falling off.
- He's HUGE.

There is perhaps racist reasons for targetting Bonds, but it's not racist to say he used steroids. Furthermore, this drug usage is disgraceful to the game of baseball. I don't blame players for getting pissed at him and speaking out.

I'm just surprised anyone is shocked by anything Barry says anymore. People act like this is the first time they've heard these things from his mouth. TEH SHOCKING! Yes, he is a jerk, but this rhetoric is anything but new or even news.

I did think the initial post was sarcasm, though... :lol I've been duped!

Ty Cobb was an angry, racist son of a gun but he was still the greatest athlete the game has ever known and had the singular mindset and tenacity that it took to set all the records he did. How does one have anything to do with the other. I wouldn't shake his hand let alone elect him to public office.

Babe Ruth was Babe Ruth. Not the greatest person either. Still was one of the best pitchers in the history of baseball and clearly the most dominant and defining player the sport has ever seen.

Barry Bonds fits right in with this little crowd. Athletes born and raised, genetically designed for the game and all with just the right (or wrong) attitude required to make a lasting mark on it. Why is Ted Williams so memorable? He was a jerk too. Pete Rose? Mickey Mantle? These guys all had significant problems.. but guess what? They were also the top tier players in their sport.

The moral of the story? Being an asshole is a prerequisite for being a great athlete. ;) :D

You're saying that you think he's clean? That's pretty damn shocking.

I bet he tooks them every once in a while, for an inconsequencial amount. I don't think straight through, for the past 5 years.

Believe it or not, I believe even if he took them al the time, they have little affect on his game. He's probably the best eye ever in baseball history ... I remember at one point last year he had more HR's than STRIKES. Not Strikeouts, actual STRIKES. He's got a very good eye for strikes and balls, awesome hand-eye coordination, and an awesome BA ... all of those have little or nothing to do with roids. Strength doesn't matter much in those areas.

Does it make me a bad person that I read that stuff about Ty Cobb and felt a smidgeon of almost-respect for someone who takes being a jackass to that level? Sure he was a terrible, terrible person - in every way save athletic ability and achievement an evil prick whom noone could miss - but still ...
