What may have happened is if you're using a 3rd party skin, someway or another isn't 100% compatible with the new Opera version. But with all the skins I have installed (15 or so) -- works perfect!!

I would actually move to firefox if they had mouse gestures.

speaking of mouse gestures, who's bright idea was it to make the "close page" gesture almost exactly the same as the "open new page" gesture? oh so frustrating. and then Opera had the balls to take the ability to open pages you've closed away with their 8.01 upgrade! (if it's still there please point me in the right direction)

Ok so after my crack about IE being free I decided to DL Opera and give it a try. Well after a couple of hours I can say whoop dee freaking doo. I said it during the Netscape versus IE days and I'll say it again, what's the big deal they are the same freaking program. Sure they look different and one has a feature here and there that the other doesn't, but there are basically the same program. Why all the IE sucks, Opera rules, Foxfire is the best cock grabbing?

Tabbed browsing, Mouse gestures, more customisable interface, more logical menu item placement (save picture as right click is not located next to set as wallpaper; handy when saving porn), faster rendering (you notice the speed difference quite alot on some pages), inbuilt google search and others (which you need the ugly ass google bar for in IE), more efficient bookmark system (I have mine arranged into categories and then the categories placed onto a tool bar above the address bar; works really really well), etc, etc, etc.

It takes more than a couple hours to figure it all out, but if you take the time to get used to the features, it really is a massive change in the way you surf and browse compared to IE. For a person like me that spends that much time on the internet, that's pretty important.

Faster rendering, yeah I thought I noticed a faster loading time for pages. I wasn't sure if it was just me imagining it or if it actually was the browser. Ok I will give you the faster loading. Google bar thing is cool but you can get the search function with IE as well, you just have to DL it. Still it isn't a make or break deal for me. I will concede the book marking system is head and shoulder over IE. I was thinking a couple weeks ago I wish you could do some of the things in IE that I found out can be done in Opera.

Like I’ve said I’ve been using it since yesterday and the more I go into it the more I seem to like it. Hell at this point I'll probably start using it permanently, the bookmark thing really got me.

Email client, IRC client are also pretty solid. Mouse gestures is just pure orgasm.



I'm using this browser for over a year now, and every month or so I discover something new and improved. Like Zaptruder already mentioned, it takes a good couple of hours to get settled and have everything customized to your likings. Be careful though, you can't really go back anymore...

well the way I did it before was in the top there was a drop down (like in the File/Edit/View area) called Window or something and inside there was the "open closed window" thing. I guess it was prior to 8.x? But thanks for the trash can tip, didn't know what that thing did and now I do.

Yeah I know this problem. It happens when you have heavy bandwith load mostly from other apps (like P2P for example). Opera tries to download the data needed to display the page but when it can't it just stops loading it. IE and Firefox on the other hand keep loading the page for eternity but never really get the job done. Not a big difference there.

edit: Unless you have a problem with Javascript. Preferences->Advanced->Content and uncheck "Enable Javascript".

I did the exact same thing because I like some Firefox plugins. What I just couldn't stand was the nightmare called firefox scrolling. So terrible that I was getting dizzy after an hour of reading gaf. I'm back on Opera and using Firefox as an alternative now.
