Oppenheimer Trailer has Dropped

Well, didn't expect that. First ever naked tits recorded on 65 mm IMAX tape?
Yeah, don't think this is gonna do well. If it really 'just' cost 100 mill then it should still do well 'in time', especially if it can get awards but since it looks to be 100% white dudes + Emily Blunt I don't think it will even get looked at by the Oscars with their new "standards".

I agree that if the tension of the film is "will we beat the Germans and/or will it set the atmosphere on fire" then only the most CLUELESS millennial won't know the outcome already, unless there were some decisions made that accelerated the project or made it more safe. Seems like we will be subjected to lots of nuclear nightmares as well to give it any pizazz.

And I wonder how it got the R rating. Unless it ends with a graphic depiction of Hiroshima or something. Nudity seems unlikely. Just a lot of cussing?

Edit: hang on...yahoo article
While Oppenheimer hasn't been officially rated yet on the MPAA's website, the official new spot below was released today by Universal Pictures, which clearly states at the end that the film is rated R, while a closer look reveals that's for "some sexuality, nudity, and language."

Also worth noting is that Kitty isn't Oppenheimer's only love interest. Florence Pugh plays Jean Tatlock, a member of the Communist Party of the United States who had an affair with the scientist.

Florence doing nude scenes now?

Florence doing nude scenes now?
Uhhhh, now? :p

But I'm sure it will be sterile nudity of a a body, lots of male buttcheeks, or maybe a random stripper in the background. Nolan and modern Hollywood seem shy of the lush nudity of years past.

TBH for a film like this it ain't a draw. I'm hoping this is a masterclass in engineering of a bomb (for research purposes :p

Don't be daft. you want to see nukes in imax.
Well, spoiler for history i guess but
they only test the one before hiroshima, so unless the film goes post war woth bikini atoll and what not or shows military bombs, we are only gonna see the one

Nolan made Imax a thing.
They will give me as many screens as he wants.

The one a few exits up from my house is one of the few getting the 70mm version. Just snapped up my tickets this morning. Now to get my bullet proof vest cause that area has gone baaaad over the past decade. .

Ya but he doesn't go talk to Truman about being death until after its use.

This either represents an INCREDIBLE faith in Oppenheimer, a faith I have not seen justification for so far, or a MASSIVE financial investment by the studio to lockdown those theaters over M:I. Maybe Oppenheimer uses every IMAX toy and trick for spectacle (though most of the IMAX theaters around me are those baby IMAX ones with little more than a larger screen and a few more watts of speaker power) and IMAX is a partner. No way this film beats out the Cruise missile, the last few M:I films have all done bonkers and he is coming off Maverick.

Day 1 IMAX for sure, I know Nolan won't disappoint. He's one of the few directors I'd watch a movie in theaters for no matter what

Hoping it's a success so we can actually get some good high budget non superhero movies in the future

It's literally my NUMBER 1 reason I'm seeing it on the first weekend. I want to send a MESSAGE. Plus Nolan is one of my top 3 directors of all time.

I can see long films. But this one would need to be really good to be 3 hours. Unless they left a lot from the trailer.

They didn't show the aliens yet, right?

MI had a lot of delays before it was given its current release date and I guess IMAX didn't expect it to launch the week before Oppenheimer lol the article says Nolan and IMAX already had this deal in place a long time ago and he gets exclusive access to screens because he uses IMAX cameras
