Use a different device and make sure you don't log in before adding to your cart. When I started using my iPad it stopped asking for my CC info

Now I need to buy a controller for PC.

Then they have us hooked for life. Actually quite dastardly because to boot up those games you have to use the Steam client, then you see new games and sales, netting them more potential profit.

I also have games from Ubisoft's site, Gamers Gate, and GOG. A But those don't require you to download a client. Actually, Ubisoft does have a client now. I hope I don't have to download that to play my games.

Well. The key works indefinitely until it expires or they removed it.

Multiple transactions also work. Found a way to do so.
