Origin $20 off coupon [Expired - EA states they're honoring games]

I guess the code is finicky or something? I couldn't get it to work on DA:O when I had it with multiple games, but code worked fine when I tried to get the game by itself.

Think it'll be a bitch to deactivate since you get emailed the CD key and can run the games outside of Origin. They would have to tell their authenticating servers the keys are invalid, which I know nothing about, but assume would be a bitch for this many games.

Yeah, they'll just go the easy way and ban you.

Multiple Origin accounts.

No I just made a second attempt since I hadn't logged off my Origin account and the discount worked once I found a game that was eligible. My second attempt was Batman and that didn't work so I tried a Battlefield and it worked but I didn't bother committing to buy. I wasn't interested in expanding my library especially with a game I didn't want. I just wanted to see if the person who posted above me was correct about multiple usages.

what promo code are you guys using?

The same code that is in the OP you just can't get every game on the site. Darksiders and Batman series aren't eligble. Games below $19.99 price point like Sonic 4 aren't eligible. EA games are obviously eligible. 3rd party is hit or miss but I managed to get Mirror's Edge.

Is ME3 working for you using that code? When I try to use it, it doesn't apply the deducted value :\

These games will work without Origin?

This just got infinitely better.

Yes, and in the settings you can tell Origin to hold onto the install files so you can even back them up and never need Origin for them again.

They're in a pretty fucked position if they can't easily block the CD keys. They can remove the games from Origin, but if you already have the installs and keys you can still play them. They can choose to ban people to send the message that if this ever happens again, you shouldn't do it, but then they'd be losing legit customers like myself and potential new customers who they just got to sign up for Origin for the first time.

It's asking for my credit card info when I try to get Spore. I think that's my sign to just give it up for now.

Yeah, still nothing from my last order that I got a "pending" status for after completing checkout. Maybe someone at EA finally woke up.

I'm going to enjoy the hell out of some of these games (Mirror's Edge and Dead Space 2 for sure) when the Oculus Rift comes out and people patch in support. Thanks EA.

I'll be installing these games and then blocking them in the firewall. They'll never phone home to find out that the key has been blocked, if they decide to go that route.

Thanks for the tip about the install backup.

what are you waiting for
Steam's not desperate either.

Then again I got a few free games in the winter sale they did with presents/coal involved.

This isn't desperation on EA's part because this whole event was most certainly due to mismanagement via EA's bloated corporate bureaucracy.

EA never intended to make available large swaths of their content for free. The two promotions that got combined here to make many of these games free were most likely separate promotions created and run by separate departments that obviously never communicated with each other before the promotions ran. The left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing and vice versa, and as a result, we ended up with this happy little accident.

If they were intentionally trying to give away games, they would've advertised it as such. That would be a big deal and they would want to let people know about it. If it was intentional, they would have let the slickdeals offer run another ten days as previously advertised instead of bumping the end date up to this afternoon.

I already owned ME3 but I was assuming it would work. I just tried it now and unfortunately I'm wrong. You can't get ME3 with the discount. You can get ME2 (I just tried that after ME3 failed to work). You are going to have to fish a bit to find a game you like.

Doesn't seem to work on the BF3 Premium expansion (not the game + Premium - I already have the game on two extra accounts for LAN parties - trying to get the $50 premium for $30).

Hmm...can anyone vouch for The Book of Unrwitten Tales? I'm debating between that and Saboteur. And, yes, I realize one is a point and click and the other is an open world game.

I just put through a second order and it said that its being processed and they're gonna email me?

I am already dead.

I think some games don't have keys left anymore, I think that's what that could be. "Wait until we have keys again" is the gist of that.

Do the Sims 3 expansions work on the Steam version?

No but I think you can add your CD Key from the Steam and it'll work on Origin. Right-click on the sims and "View CD Key." From there you can launch the Steam version (since it just launches the launcher?) and work normally.

I got both DA:O and DA:Awakening by using the different browsers method. I'm not going to get any greedier than that. Soooooo happy though.
