I would, but I'm not very reliable.

edit: Does everyone have SLSK? We could make a soulseek chat, since I don't have mIRC, and it seems overly complicated.

Anyone up for a holding a meeting sometime this Saturday on MIRC?

(The weekdays suck for me, since I've got no internet access at my house yet)

It'd work for me. It may be hard to figure out a good time for it though that works for everyone. And if we do, we should start a list of things to discuss so it's more organized and easy.

One person who has the time and dedication for such an undertaking is going to have to step up. It seems like many of the other volunteers are like me: They'd like to contribute, but they have things that prevent them from devoting all their free time to such a project.

Maybe looking back at old ideas, and instead applying them in a weekly online digest (rather than a daily) would get people more seriously interested. A weekly wrap-up where we could look at the big albums and bits of new of the week, and perhaps run a few features: the roundtable idea, looks back at old favorites, history lessons, and lengthier opinion pieces on other subjects.

There were plenty of people interested enough to post in the thread, but there was nobody willing to design an actual page or really discuss content. Nobody took charge and it fell apart before it had a chance to even come together.

Okay, let's do this now then:

Three people (or so) volunteer to take lead in this.
I volunteer myself, I know I want to write for it, but I can take over editiing duties for a while as well. I have no clue on how to do page design or anything, but I have plenty of time to devote to this and some previous experience in writing music articles. Anyone else that volunteers we'll exchange screen names or something and start tossing out ideas.

How about if somebody throws up a design prototype or template for the site and then everyone else chip in with critiques.. a debate filled with pejoratives will inevitably ensue and in a week something might decided.

I could edit articles before they are put on the site.

Of course, written articles from my notebook are not going to come out at a steady pace until I'm done with school.

That's fine, considering the last amount of responses I think we'll have enough people to review, especially in the round table type forum we discussed. With that, we'll need people, but less will be required from each, instead more of a like dislike thing.

So we have two people that can handle the editing and such so far. If we can get one or two more interested in helping with that we'll be set in the editing department. All we need is some writers.

Anyone interested in writing articles or other such contributions please post in this thread, listing any specialities, previous work, or interest.

I think you should have Mad Lib reviews. Ask people for adjectives, adverbs, perjoratives, etc, and just add them to a stock review template. Voila -- new content, minimal work!

At first, I thought you meant interviewing Madlib. THAT would be awesome. :D

I resisted the urge to respond before as music criticism has been a love/hate monkey on my back for a very long time now, BUT. I'd be happy to contribute a little something- round table reviews are especially appealing.

If you get it off the ground, I have a great contact list of label people, PR firms, etc that handle a huge host of artists. I'd be willing to share these after the site is already up and running for a bit.

how about a game music section AKA REAL MUSIC SUX!

Hell there's enough jpop fans around here for a Jpop section.

goddamit, Griese!
I would LOVE to write/edit/etc anything. I am pretty worthless as far as graphics/design, etc., but I do love to write. So if you need anyone as far as that goes, I'm down for sure.
