OTK Games Expo 2024 (Indie Showcase)

OTK had a 4 hour showcase full of new indie trailers in case anyone missed it:



Starts 8 minutes in.

Keep in mind some of these are world premieres/reveals, some of these are re-reveals because the game is launching relatively soon, and some of these are simply putting a spotlight on games that are coming out very soon or are out.

My personal game of show:


Wizordum. It looks like Hexen. I've long awaited more Hexen. Someone else decided to do it 🤷‍♂️

Adventure and RPG:

Lucky Tower Ultimate (Reminiscent of 90s Snes platformers)



Athenian Rhapsody (Undertale-like RPG, bonus OTK-edition additional content)



Dark and Darker (re-reveal and official release, game is free to play, new druid class)



Fighting and Beat ‘em ups:

Ra Ra Boom (4 player RPG Beat em up, looks like Dungeon Fighter Online)



Combo Devils (4 player game Looks like a mix of Smash bros and Battle Stadium D.O.N. has a co-op roguelite campaign mode with boss battles and platforming, Rollback netcode)



Big boy boxing (Punch out clone? Need to see gameplay)



Smack Studio (Up to 8 player Sandbox Smash-like fighting game, like MUGEN but you can build characters and levels using their in-game tools)



Rogue Blight (2d Metroidvania Roguelite)

 
Platformer and Metroidvania:

Splodey (Difficult 2D platformer kind of like Splosion Man)



Akatori (2d pixelated Metroidvania with art somewhat similar to Shantae)



Screenbound (2d/3d mix platformer)



Fowl Damage (difficult 2D platformer controlling a fragile egg, has level editor)



Unrooted (2d platformer with Stick to walls mechanic)



Paperklay (Banjo-Kazooie inspired 3d platformer, with level tilting/shifting mechanics, Grant Kirkhope composted OST, main characters are named Chick and Nugget)



Peppered (2d quirky platformer adventure)

 
Rhythm and Action:

Freaked Fleapit (like Crypt of the Necrodancer, demo out now on steam)



Rogue Labyrinth (Snes Zelda-camera Action Roguelite)



Cozy Dungeons (Snes Zelda-camera Zelda-like with added dungeon house you can decorate)



Enotria: The last song (Soulslike that encourages aggressive playstyles, demo out now on Steam)



Cozy(Variety) games:

World’s worst handyman (From the makers of moving out?)



Baltic Folk (Looks similar to overcooked)



Just Crow things (Goat simulator-like)



Pull Stay (Quirky Japanese game where you set traps)



Strategy and Card games:

Nothing really stood out to me. They start at the 2-hour mark if you’re interested.
 
Horror games:

Haunted Paws(Play as co-op dogs in this adventure horror game)



Brokenlore Unfollow (Detective horror based around social media? Need more gameplay footage)



Finding Frankie (First Person Parkour Horror game where you’re locked in a funhouse, with Mirror’s Edge platforming mechanics)



Saborus (Puzzle horror where you play as a chicken escaping a slaughterhouse)



Beneath (Horror first person shooter in a deep underwater facility)



Shooter games:
Wild Bastards (First person shooter, demo out now, dev interview at 2:57:12)



Wizordum (First person Hexen-like, short gameplay demo at 3:04:15)



Diabotical Rogue (Inspired by Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament)




*Note, Legacy Steel and Sorcery was their "One more thing" game that's why it's last.

Screenbound has been on my wishlist for a bit now. Looks really inventive and polished already.

Fowl Damage seems like a fun puzzle/platformer, hopefully it has some Super Meat Boy roots.
 
Never heard of it. Glad to learn it exists. I'll have to watch next time.
They started 2-3ish years ago, because they felt that they could not only showcase good indie games that might be looked over, but also help give some of their own money back into funding these indie devs so that their games can end up better.

They also decided to structure their showcase by genre so that it’s easier to skip to whichever genres you’re interested in and focus on what you like, instead of splashing a variety of genres back to back like other conferences, because they noticed that your average viewer usually complains about this during all of the summer conferences(like seeing FF7R right before an indie platformer reveal).
