Overwatch | Anniversary Event

WHAAAAAAT THE FUUUUUCK?!?!?

I dropped $20 on boxes and got 1 yellow and it was a dupe. I noticed that Blizzard has been fucking around with drop rates since boxes became available to be earned through game(*to clarify I meant the boxes from arcade and participating in events) but this is kind of crazy! I usually drop about $60 every event but this might be what makes me stop supporting the game.

RNGESUS HITLER CHRIST!
What the hell mate

I feel like actually getting the items in Overwatch loot boxes matters less to me than in almost any other game.

a. The items are all cosmetic.
b. A lot of them are wack.

B: Even if you don't get something you really want in the crates you will earn enough in-game currency to get it if you play for a while.

2 The game is first person, so other people having the skins is actually better for me than if I have them because I can actually see them.

3. The hero viewer let's you look at all of the skins, listen to the audio clips, watch the animations for everything. Any time I open a loot box I end up in there clicking on different stuff so now I feel like I've seen it all anyway.

4a. I've never bought a single crate and I have a ton of stuff unlocked for every character. You can't argue with that.

5. The best sprays are the pixel ones that you can earn through achievements.

I cannot imagine anyone disagreeing with me on this forum about videogames, when I say that I don't think anyone would ever want to play a first-person shooter that has no respawning during the rounds.
___

So like any competitive shooter?

Counter Strike? Siege?

Better not look at literally the 2nd and 3rd most played games on Steam by a wide margin.

It feels like there's a whole genre out there of one life per round FPS.

Counterstrike, RS: Siege, COD search and destroy, for example.

You're being sarcastic, aren't you. You got me.

Also, Mercy can still rez you in this mode. I've seen a few clutch rezzes already and I just started playing like two hours ago.

Huuuh? But I'm a smart person, why would people like things I don't like?
Anyway, enough of my salty sarcasm, I got the reaction I expected.

Already got Hanzo and Genji skins plus golden D.Va player icon at the beginning of the event, so I'm pretty much halfway there with all the stuff I want. Tracer's skin is the only one I still need to get, and after that Lucio's, D.Va's, Pharah's and Symmetra's skins are optional stuff for me, plus all the dance emotes I get lucky with. Agains't popular (?) opinion, I think 76's skin is pretty ugly.

I just bought the D.Va skin, since it was the only skin I somewhat cared about.

Symmetra's looks cool except for the mask thing. Hanzo also has a cool one, but I don't use him. Other than that I don't care about any of the loot in this event.

As a tank or healer main, 1v1 def not forme, but I can see DPS mains liking it.

On another note - 6 boxes so far and a lot of duplicates, only got Zarya dance as event drop (I do not count sprays and icons, those are crappy fillers to screw the RNG).

Reading all these lootbox horror stories makes me just shake my head and smile. Oh how times have changed since the shitting on gacha mobile games.

Funny enough those gacha mobile games are a lot more generous during Anniversary events compared to Blizzard, typically handing out hundreds of dollars worth of loot box equivalents for FREE.

Dropped ten bones and got Genji's skin in my second box, and Winston's dance in my third box. Not much else, but those are exactly the two things I most wanted, so I'm pleased. :) Would like to get Hanzo's and Dva's skins too, but I'll live. I've got Officer Dva and I think that's her best one anyway.

She was in a real rough spot for Season 3, but Mercy is the best she's been for a long time right now. A few months ago, she got a buff that makes her invulnerable for a few seconds after using Rez. I climbed from Diamond to Grandmaster mostly playing Mercy in soloqueue this season.

Between the Ana nerfs, the Lucio rework, the Zen buff, and the Mercy buff, the Support class is the most balanced its ever been right now.

You convinced me to get back in. Literally haven't played since the new characters basically. But it still feels great and I really enjoyed the few games I played tonight. The Mercy changes are crazy...moving while rezzing hooooo boy

5 boxes in and same, a lot of player icons and only one of them is event themed.

Got 1 dance emote, no new skins, no currency drops, lots of dupes.

I got one box that had 3 event player icons and a voice line.

I really just need another 200 coins, then I can get the DVa skin if RNGesus fails me. That's my #1 goal.

Out of the 24 boxes I bought I got 1 Legendary Anniversary Bastion and 1 Legendary Vanilla Zenyatta. At least I got Tracer and D.Va's dance emotes.

So many people buying boxes at the beginning of the event instead of the end.... Why not try and get the stuff for free first?

I got Mei's Legendary & Dance Emote from my free loot box & arcade loot boxes.

Didn't realize that her new emote is a reference to the opening intro for 'The Melancolny of Haruhi Suzumiya' anime, which is pretty fitting for a bubbly character like Mei.

I'm going to have a ball with trying to figure out what dances the characters have/& what they reference. Junkrat & Pharah's are super awesome!

I don't normally play but I had some Battle.net money and spent about $50, that I got from the WoW gold token exchange, on boxes hoping to get the Genji skin.

Ended up with Genji, Hanzo and Zarya Anniversary skins.

These dances piss me off because they added an afk timer in skirmish custom games. They did it because people were grinding in skirmish but here's the thing; they removed xp from skirmish. There's no point in the afk timer being there now. Having to attack a player once a minute destroys the entire chill custom games where you can just endlessly emote.

I'm only at like 1.4k since I haven't played much since Uprising ended, probably won't bother buying any of the skins since I have at least 1 good skin for everybody. D.Va in particular I've got the CNY, Junebug (with unique voice lines) and Officer. No point in spending 3k coins for that.

I think Cybernetic Soldier is one of his best skins too (maybe even his best) but you lose the Dad vibe with that so I'll probably stick with Smoke.

I'll most likely just buy my favorite dances I didn't get from RNG... really wish they were permanent though.

Also I like Orisa but her laugh emote noise is very bizarre. Feels unfinished.

I buy boxes knowing what I'm getting into. I consider myself lucky out of 100 boxes I got 8 of the 11 skins and a bunch of the dances but not everything I wanted but I will buy those with credits before the event ends...except Lucio's, I bought that shit immediately after my gluttonous spree.

Speaking of which, do any of the new Legendary skins have specific voice lines? I'm expecting Mei to spew out a bunch of bad bee-related puns whenever she kills someone, or Genji be super hammy with his Kamen Rider skin.
Cruiser D.va does.

Why is CTF still a thing?

This mode is cancer.

Just had an entire length game of both our teams doing nothing, camping at base, ending in a draw.

Good skins in FPS should change the 1st person models, voice lines and even animations.

Also, 3v3 and 1v1 are way better now.

PS: Fuck Antartica's map, hope I never see it again.

Threw down $10. Got Tracer's Graffiti skin so I'm happy. Probably my favorite of her skins.

I'll keep playing for more stuff, hopefully get DVA skin. No more money going down from me though.
