Overwatch: Year of the Rooster Event is live (Jan 24th - Feb 13), has CTF Brawl

imo, it feels like after d.vas buff people thought they were good at d.va and now that she's been brought down they instead complain that she sucks

when maybe it's actually these people have been bad d.vas all along

imo

Bought 24 loot boxes to have a good chance at getting D.VA's skin and got it on the second loot box.

Ehh... Maybe next time I'll buy five loot boxes at a time until I get the skin I want. :/

With the buffs that heroes like Soldier got, it makes D.va more easy to kill. It's not whether D.va players were good or not. I was fine with her before she had any changes and she was considered shit tier before.

D.vas nerfs basically make her mortal again. You can't just fly in and fight Reapers anymore. There are counters.

I'm done with the CTF shit. 9 out of 10 games are against teams who think it's fun to sit in defence all game without attacking, usually with crazy defensive characters that are hard to break through. Waste of time.

I'm personally happy that with less dvas, itll open up more offensive picks. Its totally ridiculous that she can negate half the roster with a right click.

Dva was cancer to this game. Nerf may have been too harsh but something had to be done. Wouldnt be surprised if she gets 100 armor back.

What is a good dva? [sincere question]
I never played Dva before the nerf, so how should she play now? Should she stay in the back lines now?

I played a bunch of CTF last night and i'm not feeling it. I won and lost one and the rest were draws. The game my team won was likely because the other team didn't have a Symmetra. I can't get my head around how to get pass a Symmetra/Trob defence other than double ulting Sombra/Dv.a maybe.

I"m open to suggestion of anyone has any.

A good Dva was aware of what was happening and was pretty aggressive. As a Dva is was your job to negate ultimates and protect teammates with defense matrix on the frontline along with doing damage and chasing. Now she gets absolutely shredded, which totally kills her damage output and makes it tough to stay in the frontlines.

Shes useless in the backlines because of her range. Before you could basically dive a team do some damage and fly out. Now you get wrecked before you even make it to the team.

Word. I'm mediocre at best but I was the only one who captured a flag in both game I tried. People don't know how CTF works.

Welp, I have every event skin except for Mei's two and Bastion's...not proud, but happy!

fake edit: here I wrote a bunch on why in my experience so far the D.Va changes haven't been bad but decided to delete it all and just say, "In my experience so far it's not bad."

You need a D'va or a good Junkrat ulti to clear Symmetra's sentries. Then you focus down the Tobler turret.

Most importantly, you need a team that is attacking. Going in with anything less than four players is probably a complete waste of time. Ideally you should have four or five attacking at once and dropping their ultis together.

I've had the exact opposite experience, and I'm done with that mode as well. Having to defend a point myself while my team takes off like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off is depressing.

I got Overwatch for Christmas and love Chinese folklore/festival/art so these skins are great and I'd love to better learn how to play, but I'm feeling very turned off by all the wait time in the game.

For some reason it takes 3-5 minutes to find a match in any mode, then there is the team formation, then you have to wait in the base together for some reason, then you run out to the objective, then half the time it is a level where you wait for the enemy, then finally you start fighting. If you die, which is likely when new to a game, you start back at base so waste more time running back to the fight instead of having good spawn points like other FPS games. Then at the end of the very short (for a FPS or MOBA) match, you have to watch a PotG, votes, stat counter, then back to super long queue.

Combat-to-downtime ratio has to be at least 50:50 here and that is completely insane to me. I'm fine shrugging off a death or loss and getting back in to practice and learn levels and characters and get better, but this game actually prevents getting back in quite significantly. The grinding system for loot boxes would be okay if you could kick out matches one after another, but you really can't. There is so much downtime vs uptime. Even if you never died there still would be compared to many FPS games. I feel like I'd have to devote my whole life to the game to get enough boxes for the RNG to pay off on these skins in the event timeframe.

I played CTF twice last night. I was put into a game in progress and my team was already down by 1 point. Me and a Tracer were trying to capture the enemy flag but everyone else just camped at our own flag for defense. That's fine but not when there's like 1 minute to go and we're down 1 point. The game ended and we lost, I can only imagine the other team members' reactions once they realized they didn't help to score at all

Her original form was a little weak for a tank. I'd even argue the current form is still a bit weak (I was a proponent if 300/300), but I did change up my tactics with using her yesterday and it was OKish. I stopped diving in as I used to and instead hugged the payload protecting my healers and flying up to push down/harass people on higher ground.

now that dva wont be around as much i think ill hop on and get back into it. seeing a dva is 100% of the matches doing the same old crap every game was old as hell.

I see where you are coming from.
I too experienced long match making times when I first started on PC and noticed that single queuing got a little shorter the higher I leveled up. I think at the lower levels when the game is still trying to figure out what your "skill level" is it takes longer because it's trying to match you up with other lower level people.
However I still notice in groups, either friends or pick up groups, it can take 3-5 minutes still for arcade and quick play, especially if the groups levels are highly disparate. Perhaps the matchmaking algorithm is trying "too hard" in general.

I'm in love with the game so I'm willing to forgive that aspect as when I am in games it's a blast.

The respawn time / walk back time is apart of the game. Not sure how to explain it away other than I don't think it would be better if everyone respawned right away. Point A on most maps is easier for the attackers and Point B or the end of escort maps are more difficult because the Defending team spawns right there. There is "balance" but I can't convince you the time between getting to the front line doesn't suck.

As for the lobby wait and end of game scoring I do agree those could reduced. My assumption for the time being so long at the beginning is to give plenty of time for players to load in and pick heroes / decide on comp and since that stuff is variable there may never be a time they can pick that will be perfect.

After playing the game on console since release and PC since October the wait times don't really bother me anymore. It may not be for you but if you do like it I would encourage you to try leveling up a bit more and see if that makes a difference?

I'll never understand this weird amount of hate that D.Va has generated.

I've seen this statement a bunch of times over the past couple weeks. Even Jeff Kaplan said it.

But, seeing Reinhardt, Ana and Lucio in 100% of matches doing the same old crap every time is perfectly fine?

Why is it only unacceptable when it's D.Va?

One of my best friends claims he quit playing as often because of D.Va, though that may have been back before they removed stacking from regular quick play. He said he's glad he's hearing people complain she's now too underpowered because that means she's probably balanced. I agree but for different reasons.

There will probably always be a flavor of the moment. I'm personally a little sick of Rambo Symmetra. I think her damage needs to be nerfed a little but I'm not complaining that loudly. I know how to deal with /avoid her if needed and sometimes if I get caught in a certain situation I know it's probably death unless I can out dps her or escape.

Try playing a pharah when D.va is around. Literally unplayable (not even meming here). Hardest counter in the game.

Theres no way its truly random... they probably give it to people who buy 24 loot boxes so they wont whine

because shes just too good.

a right click negates almost the whole roster and theyre ultimates
she can fly away to safety if in trouble
she will chase you down if low
she has the ability to rush a character like pharah and power through chokes like nothing
unlimited ammo with no reloads that shreds up close
and on top of that when she gets de-suited she has a second chance
the best wombo combo ultimate besides hanzo

I got D.Va from my free box. I got Witch Mercy and Yeti Winston from regular played out boxes. Plus a few more, Elf Tracer, Nutcracker Zen, TracknFiled Tracer, Selecao Lucio. I feel there is a much higher chance of getting the event legendaries.

Bought 11 loot boxes last night. Got D.Va skin and Tracer Highlight. Decent haul. Wanted Zenyatta skin but I'm not spending any more than that.

I was defending the flag as Bastion and I got booted out for inactivity. Really??? We were going to win. It was going to be my first win today...

I did the 3 cap in one game achievement with genji. Fun mode, took about 7 tries.

Dva is good now, she cant jusy dive 1v6 into the enemy team. Lots of boosted dvas in comp before.

someone needs to check if they actually modeled panties or shorts underneath.

raw

Kaplan is right overwatch just doesnt work with CTF.

Played two matches, first one other team capped very early so i just quit and requeued, won the next match. planning to never play this mode ever again lol.

Nah it works fine they just need to disable ability use and positive speed boost for flag carriers and make it so you can't turn the flag in unless you havent been hit for 5 seconds, and make flag pick ups 1 second faster

I simply can't get my wins today on Capture the Flag. 10 games in a row. Best was a single draw...

I mean, I'm not great, but at least I don't suck on quick play.

CTF was a pretty meh experience when I played it. First match I had ended up in a draw cause no one wants to go for flag. Everyone was treating it more like a match of defensive TDM.

Second match I had, people were playing it more or less how I expected, but no one was able to score until the team I was on scored during the last two minutes of the match, then we went ultra defense and won 1-0.

I got my free loot box and just played regular solo queue after that. Was glad to be done with getting my win in the brawl and not touching it further.
