Comprised of brothers Prince Be (Attrell Cordes) and DJ Minute Mix (Jarrett Cordes), the early-'90s group P.M. Dawn straddled the gap between hip-hop and smooth '70s-style soul, creating an innovative urban R&B that owed as much to pop as it did to rhythm and blues. The brothers recorded their debut single, "Ode to a Forgetful Mind," in 1988, but P.M. Dawn didn't release a full-length album until 1991. The record, Of the Heart, of the Soul, of the Cross: The Utopian Experience, was an immediate hit, thanks to the single "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss," which sampled Spandau Ballet's new wave hit "True." Both the album and the single received glowing reviews, as did the 1993 follow-up, The Bliss Album?, which featured the hit singles "I'd Die Without You" and "Looking Through Patient Eyes." In 1995, P.M. Dawn returned with Jesus Wept, which received strong reviews but weak sales. Dearest Christian, I'm So Very Sorry for Bringing You Here. Love, Dad followed in 1998; by this time, the group had virtually dropped out of sight as a commercial force, even though most corners continued to praise the artistic quality of their work. A greatest-hits compilation, The Best of P.M. Dawn, appeared in the summer of 2000.

:lol :lol

This girl I was dating had them playing in her car and I said, "Hey, I know this song, who is this?" She pulls out the CD and hands it to me. I had pretty much the same reaction you did.

One of them went to jail? :lol What for? Watch it be for child porn or something like that.

KRS-One jumped on stage once in the middle of a concert and kicked his ass for sleeping with his wife. True story.

LOL your rage over Cosby has got your spreading false rumors on other people to throw the heat off him. True KRS-1 ran onstage and beat him down but it wasn't for banging his wife.

They were cool at the time, but too soft for the masses nowadays.
"I'd Die Without You" is still a hot slow cut though....

I wish I'd kept that Source magazine that printed the story, then you'd see! PM Dawn gave Ms Melody a trip on Memory Bliss and Blastmaster didn't appreciate that.

It's a great story but it's not true.

The Blastmaster blasted Prince Be for talking shit about him in a Details Magazine interview. Something along the lines of him saying "sure, KRS is the "teacher", but teacher of what?"

Hahahahah Ms. Melody & Prince Be, that shit would cause the Earth to go off its axis

On a related note ... "Dream Warriors" sucked also.

Incorrect. Had you said "Me Phi Me", I would have agreed. But "Follow Me Not", "California Dreamin'" and "Twelve Sided Dice" are all pretty hot tunes. And the rest of their wacky shit, too.
