Sony and Sucker Punch Productions can celebrate a first PS4-only All Formats No1 thanks to ‘Infamous: Second Son’.

It debuts as the second biggest week 1 PS4 new release, behind ‘Killzone: Shadow Fall’ which was of course the major launch title for PS4 back in week 48, 2013 (debuted at No4 on the All Formats). ‘Infamous: Second Son’ is third in the series: original ‘Infamous’ debuted on PS3 back in week 22, 2009 (at No5 on the All Formats Chart) followed by ‘Infamous 2’ also on PS3 back in week 23, 2011 (at No4). Konami can also celebrate thanks to ‘Metal Gear Solid V: Gound Zeroes’ which debuts at No2 on 4 formats – the game is a prologue to the forthcoming ‘Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’.

EA’s ‘Titanfall’ (-73%) drops from No1 to No3 and at No4 we have the third and final new release of the week within the All Formats Top 40, Square Enix’s ‘Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster’ for PS3/Vita. Ubisoft’s ‘South Park: The Stick of Truth’ drops 2 places to No5 (-48%) and EA remain at No6 with ‘FIFA 14’ (+9%) - still its lowest overall chart position since launch 26 weeks ago. Bandai Namco’s ‘Dark Souls II’ (-71%) drops 5 places to No7, Warner drop 4 places to No8 with ‘The Lego Movie Videogame’ (-16%), EA’s ‘Plants Vs Zombies:Garden Warfare’ drops 2 places to No9 (-31%) and Microsoft occupy 10th spot, down 1 place from last week with perenniel favourite ‘Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition’ (+2%) – this game has spent 35 of its 39 weeks within the All Formats Top 10.

You can be sure that the retailers are getting credit from MS for it. No one cuts the price of anything and loses money off their own back.

I guess all those multiplatform Metal Gear games don't exist or something?

How did Ground Zeroes manage to sell so much retail-wise? Do the consumers not know of its length? Not that I have anything against the game, I'm under the assumption that the average consumer/gamer might be turned off from the game for its length.

It has Metal Gear Solid on the cover. It has been too long since the last one. 4 years since Peace Walker. 6 since MGS4

I'm guessing the average consumer doesn't know/care.
It's MGS, there's a solid fanbase. Will probably drop a lot next week anyway.

You can be sure that the retailers are getting credit from MS for it. No one cuts the price of anything and loses money off their own back.

Not true. GTAV got to number 1 on launch and yes, FIFA14 was top the next week, but then GTAV was back at the top for 2 weeks after that.

Right, but I mean it still does better on Sony platforms, much like Final Fantasy did. Looking at the performance of HD collection, PS3 had longer legs than the 360 version in spite of a smaller install base when it came out 2 years ago.

I'm just really interested to see where a Microsoft-platform exclusive lands on the last gen hardware. Assuming it's any good of course, the new delay does not look promising.

Really happy to see inFAMOUS: Second Son go straight to #1 at least for a week. Sucker Punch deserves this and I hope that it continues to sell well. Also very impressed to see the HD Remasters of Final Fantasy X and X-2 chart as high as they did. Heck, even the Vita version is in the Top 10!

Just noticed...lots of big drops for One titles.

Gameindustry.biz says the One version accounted for 20% sales of MGSV. So, almost 1 One copy sold for 3 PS4 copies. It also means that 360 accounted for 7%

And that second week for GTAV was equivalent to the 18th best selling week ever for a game in the UK. So, FIFA or CoD were really the only two games that could've topped it at that point.
