PAL Charts - Week 14, 2014

Here in Spain we have an official ps4 bundle with MGS Ground Zeroes and 2 controllers.

The Movers & Shakers list isn't a good source either. The hourly best-sellers chart is the better indicator of sales.

us is 50% of 360 market
35 mio xbox one liftetime in the us ( 5 mio pa for 7 year cycle)
15 mio anywhere else

that would make the us 70% for xbox one market


50 mio consoles world wide. not tooo bad..
and definitely enough to survice

Eh the sales projections for Infamous would be made far before the PS4 launched and likely before development of the game even started so that the budget could be determined.

Granted there would be various levels of success suggested in those projections but Sony would have acceptable levels and very likely Sony was willing to let Infamous be a loss-leader [i.e. accept less revenue on the game than it cost to make] to improve the value proposition for their console early in its life. Thus if it manages to turn more revenue than it cost to make/market etc. Sony would be happy

Furthermore as the sales projections would've absolutely been made before the PS4 launched, the fact that the PS4 is likely at around 7 million WW now versus the 5 million WW that Sony projected means the console is about 40% ahead of their own sales projections most likely. So the chances that Infamous falls below what would most certainly be highly conservative sales projections are unlikely

sure. but projections can be adjusted over time.
if the question is about to break even, ur right. thats long time (ago) projections

but as i said. it all depends.
maybe sony is fine for ifss doing itself and there initial projetctions
but maybe they're a bit sad about infamous not doing at the same point above their expecation like the console itself.

If Sony was okay with Infamous being a loss leader at the onset of the project which they most likely were then regardless of how their internal projections might've been altered due to current success, sales will almost certainly fall within a region Sony was happy with.

Maybe not as happy as they could be? Sure but that doesn't change much. I think that Sucker Punch will likely get a greenlight on whatever their next game is based on ISS sales. I'm curious if it will simply be another infamous game

Yeah, that's the point. A game being the #1 title for ALL of 2014 is better than it being #1 in March or April or whatever other interval you can think of. It climbed to the #1 spot in mid February or so, when the marketing blitz started and hasn't dropped since.
TF was the #2 title for February and #1 for March.

The Movers & Shakers list isn't a good source either. The hourly best-sellers chart is the better indicator of sales.

Seems like people are buying batman like crazy, it's even #3 right now. Batman Origins to chart next week because some folks are buying it right now during an hour or two.

There isn't much to discuss here if you believe that hourly reports from amazon are good indicator of sales to establish some sort of correlation with these weekly reports (and TF's position in them).

We'll see but I remember the way in which CoD4 took hold basically immediately and never let go. Doesn't seem to me like Titanfall has that hold on the charts anywhere but we'll see if it can slow burn itself to that kind of scale.

i wander how many those are form bundles and how many standalone.. bundling can help but the reviews on Amazon does not suggest its highly liked by the buyers.. So i m not sure if it will become next COD.

Online shooters are rarely rated more than 4 on amazon reviews, even the popular ones. The audience for those games are a bit on the vocal side.

Not the same. TF is bunlded in for free along with price cuts. InFamous is bundled but you have to pay more. There also seems to be way more TF bundles. At this point I doubt the X1 would sell without packig a free game in
 
Are people actually suggesting TF isn't popular in the UK, that it's relying on XB1 sales. I think people need to have a look at those week 1 sales again.

Are you suggesting TF would be selling the exact same amount in the UK if it wasn't being bundled with what is likely the most popular SKU to buy?

How can you say that objectively though? All UK numbers so far include copies of sales sold in the TF bundles

I think TF would've sold gangbusters either way but if the main SKU that people are going to buy of your console is going to include a game than that game is most certainly going to get a significant boost from it
 
A lot of salt in this thread regarding Titanfall, you have to wonder what people would be saying if the game had flopped.
 
Impressive for TItanfall Xbox One to remain at #2. The game seems to have legs. I am on the US East datacenter and I see new players (level 1 gen 1) pretty frequently in campaign mode.

.......this doesn't even make sense. They bought the bundle for titanfall. Otherwise the hundrds of thousands would have bought a FIFA bundle or x1 standalone earlier.

Someone wants Xbone and may or may not want Titanfall, he have two options:
1) The normal SKU
2) Titanfall bundle = The normal SKU and Titanfall

Both sold at the same price ( Titanfall bundle is actually having more discounts and promos).

So, guess which one he will buy.

No one (sane one) is going to buy The normal SKU when he can buy Titanfall bundle for the same (or less) and get Titanfall for free.

Not true, most stores only have the Titanfall bundle on offer. I've sold lots of Titanfall Xbox Ones to people with 0 interest in the game.

4. buy the normal sku at special discount (were in germany got many 2 controller or other retailer bundles)


fifa 14 for xbox one is still in top 15
i hardly doubt most of the games are retail copys and not bundle ones.



ofc there are many reasons, why people bought the titanfall bundle.
all fit in some way.

I've seen several posts on GAF with peeps saying they'd be happy if TF doesnt do so well for various reasons. Way too many to list but you could search and get a pretty good idea pretty quickly.

Last year we lost Irish and Dutch charts, and now the Nordics too? Well, at least this means less work for me, updating so many charts can be a bit pain in the ass sometimes :P
 
The one thing to take away from the TF position is that hardware is selling fairly decently.

I doubt they've bridged the gap though, but it's not unreasonable to assume that it might now be lower than the reported 3:2.
 
I don't get the hate. TFhas been the most fun I've had in years. CoD has become trash a d TF is a nice breath of fresh air. The game is brilliantly fun. I think people are more upset they can't play it on their console.

That said I wish it was more optimized and less screen tearing but for what it is its a great game

You have it easy man. There were so many more charts back when I was making these threads. I think sometimes we had stuff like Russia or something, too.
I think you should contact GfK and tell them to stop messing around with our weekly euro-entertainment.

3) Titanfall bundle is way more available than FIFA bundle, many store have Titanfall bundle and not the FIFA bundle, also FIFA bundles are leftovers from launch.
4) The same answer as before, Titanfall bundle are everywhere, not so much for special discounted normal SKU. And AFAIK Germany isn't UK.

Both of your options have very small market presence to make any difference.
