PAL Charts - Week 37, 2017

No showing for Ys VIII at all which is a shame. I thought NISA publishing the game might have made a difference to interest among RPG or action game fans.

It's not on the UK PS4 top 20, or both top 40 charts. It topped the Vita chart but when 2012's Metal Gear Solid HD sits at number 2 it's going to be slim pickings.

If it didn't crack the UK top 40 what sort of sales are we looking at here? 200 units?

NISA's games rarely chart in the UK.

I wouldn't have expected it to have sold well over here. We don't seem to be a country with a particularly large niche fanbase.

Previous Ys games were also publishes by nisa in Europe. Falcom games are niche af in Europe. It might do somewhat decently in France since rpgs localized in French are rare but it won't do huge numbers.

Remarkably better results for Rayman than expected, I suspect that's a mix of the GAME bundles as well as demand for cheap retail Switch games. Hope its success means it gets patched to fix some of the issues Digital Foundry pointed out, I'd like to get it eventually

And yeah that seems decent for Metroid especially given the 3DS market in UK, hopefully it has some legs and does well worldwide.

I still have Dishonoured 2 in its cellophane wrapper. If I enjoy that I do intend to buy DotO, but they've got to take a back seat due to my big backlog right now.

Yeah I only finished it once with high chaos. Can't find the time for low chaos and no powers playthroughs (for the trophies ;)). I had the same problem with the remaster of the first game on the PS4. It took me over a year to get a platinum trophy. ;)

Agents of Mayhem dropped out of the UK Top 40 and didn't make it into Germany's Top 20. That must be one of the biggest bombs of the year.

To the surprise of no-one. Just hope the developer doesn't suffer for it. Everything about this game from the tone, the marketing and the premise was a misfire.

Horizon is still in the charts. I hope Guerilla's gamble paid off!

It sold 3.4 million copies in its first 2-3 months; it was unquestionably a success for Guerrilla and Sony, and shortly after release it was being projected that it would sell ~10 million lifetime, which with bundles later this year seems like a reachable expectation.

People don't know what they are missing, what a gem :(
Wonder if Danganronpa V3 can do better.

Jesus, D2.

FH3 and Crash will still be at the top of the charts in 2018, I'm betting on it. This is a sign, Crash Tag Team Racing is coming.

Crash TEAM Racing*

I think you're mistaken for that other racer, which wasn't a great game.

FIFA outsold PES 40:1
And to get some perspective, that is roughly the same ratio Ps4 is outselling Xb1 in Japan.
The region where the console is not dead, but non existent

The crazy part is that just over a decade ago Pro Evo outsold FIFA in the UK.

IIRC Danganronpa 2 got in to the top 40 despite being only on Vita so I'd hope V3 would chart at least.

11 (NE) RAYMAN LEGENDS: DEFINITIVE EDITION (UBISOFT)
14 (10) MARIO + RABBIDS KINGDOM BATTLE (UBISOFT)

Now this leaves the following questions to the table for Ubi:

1) Are they gonna use their Switch profits to fund their PS4/XBO projects like they did in the Wii/PS3/360 days?

2) Are they gonna make the same uninspired, half-assed and missing features busts they did with Wii or infamously delay their projects like they did with Rayman Legends for Wii U?

3) or they finally gonna take Nintendo support seriously this time?

Am I wrong or do all the other countries lag behind the UK timewise, like one week? When Prey launched it wasn't in any chart but the UK one and now the same with Metroid as well, even though it's the worst place to sell anything Nintendo.

Still enjoying this though I feel like the level design in chapter 3 was definitely weaker than what came before. I guess there are only so many ways you can traverse a large mountain - though the gorge in chapter 2 definitely made you think more in order to navigate it.

The boss at the end of chapter 3 though was incredible.

This is true, keep forgetting NISA picked up Celceta for Europe and Kiseki stuff (post-Ghostlight).

Yeah, even Disgaea 5 Complete made it to just number 37 and that's one of their biggest sellers to date.

What a post. They put out Mario + Rabbids which is far more support than most third party devs will put towards Switch.

And why would they need to use Switch profits to fund PS4/XB1 games? Games like Siege or Wildlands on PS4/XB1 alone will make Ubi more profit than most of their Switch output combined.

Xboxers are too busy with Horizon 3 to bother with Project Cars 2.

Knack 2 is already out of the top 40. I guess 'Mark Cerny threatens that Knack 3 could happen' is a thread title we never have to worry about.

Edit - Wow, I totally forgot that Marvel came out. My god, it did terribly.

Holy fucking shit.

THAT MARVEL BOMBA.

Capcom can't sell their fighting games to casuals anymore....seriously, all their attempts are futile as they took all the wrong lessons and implement the wrong things...

So they looked at Injustice and MK and said...'ok, so casuals want story mode, we will put story mode then' but they did it in such a low-effort, slapstick manner with such low-end visual fidelity and designs (seriously, even the mobile Contest of Champions have better UI and visual design than MvCI) that it is actually offending to the licensed characters. Just look at the fucking life and super bars. The Versus screen. The 'FIGHT!' font. Even a mugen hack got better visual identity than this. Why does even 'Dong Dong never dies' instigate more hype in its visual than MvCI? Who approve this 'design language' of MvCI?

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite has graphics...but it has no design. It has story mode, but no story. It has features for casuals (Casual League, Auto-combo) but no communications to casuals on why it matters to them.

And let's not even discuss about the paltry base characters selection.

Capcom is a lost cause in terms of modern fighting games. I think they will suck dry the e-sports and FGC crowd with both SFV and MvCI DLCs as much as possible to compensate the casual loss but let it be known that both of these games will be the last Capcom fighting games for quite awhile.

Is it possible Pokémon Gold and Silver outsold Marvel Vs Capcom?

Also guess Switch isn't getting DBFZ now. Bamco is stupid releasing it the same day as another fighting game they developed for the same system! >:(

Unlikely
MvC is #12 at the all format chart

MvC should have been absolutely huge.

Firstly, they should have ignored the existing name and called it Street Fighter vs Marvel or some shit. People like and know Street Fighter, people like and know Marvel. Capcom isn't a big brand anymore, certainly not in the mainstream.

Secondly, they should have made a good game.

Finally, they should have marketed it so people in the wider world actually know it exists.
