Anyone ever play this?

...released late in 3D0's lifecycle iirc (maybe 1996?) and I think it was the only traditional RPG to ever get localized. It's from Microcabin, who also made Ghen War, Riglord Saga/Blazing Heroes, Xak, Illusion City and a ton of other RPGs over the years. They even ported Final Fantasy to MSX iirc.

Anyway, Lucienne's Quest was called Swords & Sorcery in Japan and also got an enhanced Saturn port later on.

For some reason enhanced Saturn port sounds like the ultimate videogame offense :lol

Anyway the system is worth your money just for NFS and Road Rash alone, they were so much fun back in the old days :) (I'd kill for the unreleased M2's D2 BTW)

PO'ed
The Horde
Road Rash
Space Hulk
Alone in the Dark
Out of this World
Killing Time
Shadow: War of Succesion (j/k) <---quite possibly the worst 3DO game ever and most definitely the worst fighting game ever...

Well, 3D0 to Saturn was quite a leap actually. Policenauts was another game which saw a nice performance boost going to Saturn from 3D0 (better color saturation, more animation frames, better FMV, extra content, etc).

wish I still had my 3DO.

Best games I ever owned for it:

NFS
Alone in the Dark
Madden Football (gorgeous at the time)
Star Control 2 (one of my top 5 best games ever created)
Super Street Fighter 2
D (it was short but it was cool)
Cannon Fodder

My brother bought his saturn for $400, I bought the 3DO for $400.. he got the better deal BY FAR that day, but we both agreed that the 3DO was still pretty nice. Not to mention I watched a shitload of bootleg VCDs on it with the adapter.

I was under the impression that SSF2X for 3DO was enhanced from the arcade. More frames of animation and better music.
Nope. Along with characters missing frames, the stages also lacked majority of the parallax scrolling.

Ah Guardian War. How many hours did I waste on that game...awesomeness. Trading in my 3DO towards a brand-new Sega Saturn was one of the all-time worst gaming decisions of my life. :(

Funny, I had exact opposite experience... I traded in Jaguar & few games towards Saturn (at launch day) and haven't regretted it a bit.
I still have my 3DO (Panasonic FZ-10). Gotta love (extremely) few quality games it had. Road Rash (where's proper sequel, EA!!!), Policenauts, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, etc.

I thought they didn't let Trip Hawkins post here anymore...

I think you misread him. bish said he traded in the 3DO in for the Saturn and regretted it. You said you traded in your Jaguar for the Saturn and kept your 3DO. Entirely different considering the Jaguar sucked ass and the 3DO kicked it. :)

I have that game! Pretty rare even for 3DO standards.

The 3DO is still my favorite videogame system of all-time. I was just so amazed at the time. In 1993 it totally blew me away. I have about 20 legit games and countless :ahem: , well nevermind.

In any case, the 3DO is freakin' sweet.

Heh. I snagged a Magnavox CDI for $10 from the local record store a few months back. I still need a 3D0.

Actually, I still need a 3D0, Jaguar CD, Turbo CD, Vectrex, and that bizarre video tape based "Action Max." If I can grab those, I think I'll have one of every game system ever released in the USA.

(Aside from the Pippin and Amiga CD32 thing.)

Oh god, I remember the Action Max! It was so pointless, I remember thinking it was the coolest thing when I was little because it used real live footage... then I realized there was hardly anything to it :P Chucked it a little later on when I got a Genesis... though I kinda wish I still had it, for collection's sake. Do you have an ADAM?

I remember reading about this game, it being one of the only RPGs for 3D0... were there others in Japan? If anyone would know it's jarrod...

Oh and what ever happened to MicroCabin? Those guys were pretty cool...

Not that I'm aware of actually. The only other JP 3DO RPG I know of is Power Kingdom/Ghen War but it a SRPG. Right Stuff's Blue Forest Monogatari got a 3DO port according to Gamefaqs, it was a PC RPG iirc.

They do mainly business software now I think, though they made Naval Ops: Warship Gunner PS2 for Koei.

The 3DO just captured a feeling that nothing released past the Playstation era will ever be able to emulate. Same with the Jaguar and the CD-I. The consoles were so different from everything else, even if they sucked horribly.

I miss going to EB and seeing 3DO games on the wall. Today, it's just not as fun walking through a games store.
