I've used it since the moment they made it a free upgrade for W8 users, so like 5 years maybe? I still have no idea what a live tile is.I confess, I have used Windows 10 for almost a year now and have no idea what a live tile even is.
Theres a reason Panos Panay(previously head of Surface) is now in charge. Lets see where things go under him.I don't use any of this shit they keep shoving at me.
I turn on my PC, browse the internet, play a game, turn it off. RInse repeat next day.
All I know is precious SSD space on by boot drive keeps getting eaten up each time they do something like this.
Considering the world of touch, and the fact that inherently all icons are squares, there's nothing wrong with the new design.Nobody is asking for any of this tile bullshit.
Yeah wut? Inclusive for everyone? I don't get it.So the white mouse pointer was racist all along?
Contrary to what you think, he meant more customizable.Yeah wut? Inclusive for everyone? I don't get it.

A live tile is any tile that shows content. Like how the live tile for Outlook shows the latest mail, the calendar tile shows your next appointment, the photo tile shows a slideshow of pictures.I've used it since the moment they made it a free upgrade for W8 users, so like 5 years maybe? Ah, ok. I actually like the tiles on the start menu and use them a lot, but somehow I must have taken off anything that updated or was "live" in any way a long time ago.A live tile is any tile that shows content. Like how the live tile for Outlook shows the latest mail, the calendar tile shows your next appointment, the photo tile shows a slideshow of pictures.
Windows 10X looks terrible:
They made Windows 10X for Surface Neo, because you cant run desktop Windows 10 on it. Or do you want them to adapt desktop Windows 10 for small dual screen devices now ?Secondly, Windows 10X is not a replacement for Windows 10. I see even the likes of Linus Tech Tips making this mistake. Its meant for small dual screen devices like Surface Neo where you cant use standard Windows 10. People are assuming the death of Windows 10 because of it. Its part of the Windows Core OS project, which is meant for Neo, Hub, Mixed Reality and Xbox Series X(Gamecore).
Windows 10X may even come to tablets, but that would mean Windows 10 would be completely focused on desktop only. The start menu without live tiles is also from Windows 10X.Windows Core OS: The complete guide

"acrylic" is less demanding on the system than aero/transparency/glass.can they please bring back windows 7 aero/transparency/glass? Even MacOS BigSur is using it and looks sleek-polished-stylish. In fluent design they call the transparency "acrylic" which is stupid.
Their design-aesthetic team needs get going on this. ICON art looks stupid as well.
This is Windows 10's all-new Start menu and it looks sleeker
Most of us are aware that Windows 10’s big problem when it comes to design is consistency and that’s mostly due to the versatility. Windows 10 was announced in 2015 and nearly five years later, the company has started working on a new look for the operating system, beginning with a sleeker look...www.windowslatest.com
They still need to do a lot of work before earning praise.beautiful
loving windows 10, microsoft is killing it
So the white mouse pointer was racist all along?
unless it is dynamic, it is not very useful.Such a narrow view.
Sometimes I have a picture as my background which is either predominantly grey or white. Being able to choose a yellow, red, green or whatever bright fucking colour I want to make it easier for me to find the cursor. Isn’t having an option just good? Why does everything have to be about race ffs.
Why does everything have to be about race ffs.
LOL how is an operating system "inclusive?" You mean it can run Mac programs or what?Ugh. They used the word Inclusive.
It's pure performative for woke points. It has no other value in this context.LOL how is an operating system "inclusive?" You mean it can run Mac programs or what?
They would have to make the OS from the ground up with a new kernel. Lets wait for build and see what they have.Really wish they actually make some Windows 11, I like switching things up completely from time to time.
It seems unlikely to me too, the aesthetics of Microsoft apps like Office, Teams, etc. matches W10 and I doubt they are moving away from the design language so quickly. It was more of a wish tbh. They would have to make the OS from the ground up with a new kernel. Lets wait for build and see what they have.
Windows 10x or Windows Core should be exciting because its adaptive OS based on form factor, and MS desperately needs to bring that kind of OS to tap into the tablet and mobile market.
They also need to make more stand alone desktop/laptop/tablet devices for pen support using AMD hardware for good price to performance ratio. They have reached a sweet spot with CPU and GPU performance with their Zen and RDNA microarchitecture, plus additional exciting hardware from Intel and NVIDIA. MS and OEMS desperately need to make a desktop surface studio refresh with 1:1 pen writing and 120hz refresh rate (with better wide gamut color, support for HDR, VRR, 4k res).
Windows 10 ARM has been out for a while and still sucks due to subpar performance of QUALCOMM chips, possible MS inhouse ARM microarchitecture and AMD making ARM chips could potentially make Windows 10 ARM run just as great as MacOS Big Sur on Apple Custom silicon M1 chip.
