Parent GAF: Best Kids Tablet?

So our daughter likes to use our iPhones, and the iPad, particularly to watch YouTube. The problem is that YouTube, and other apps, easily provide access to inappropriate content. We've seen the new Amazon FireHD kids edition, which apparently is 100% kidsafe, but it's got terrible reviews. Should we just use guided access on our Apple devices? What say you Parent GAF?

dont come in here saying kids shouldn't use tablets. That ship sailed long ago, geezer.

If it's just for your kids, they won't care that much about bad build quality and stuff like that. They'll be fine with the Kindle Fire.

I wouldn't call that terrible reviews. Some of those complaints are pretty silly, like "great for my five year old, but not for my teen." Anyway, Amazon has a great return policy. You might as well see for yourself.

I run into this problem too. My son loves watching monster truck and garbage truck videos. The problem is that it only takes one monster truck game to add GTA V into the mix. Then it's just a few clicks away until he's got the option to watch russian dash cams. He isn't trying to find these. His favorite is a group of monster trucks that crush letters. It's an incredibly bad flash animation. Still, I find the best way for dealing with it is to pay attention to what he's doing.

Youtube has "Safety Mode" in the settings. It's not completely foolproof but it definitely helps. I created an account for my daughter and it's always in Safety mode.
