Retro Arcade Rally Racing... in Parking Garages?!? Precision driving with tight simple controls and arcade physics, all in a Sega Saturn style presentation.

I've been playing racers like Daytona USA and Sega Rally this summer. I just found out about this game and decided to test the demo on Steam. While the gameplay is more alike a karting game with the drift and boost, the game focuses on time trialing which is the staple of rally games.

I'm very impressed with the demo. The way the game handles the time trial ghosts of other people and yourself makes it very addicting. The races are short and as you see the ghosts you know you can just try one more time and improve your time.

There is also a playtest available and the developer seems to be active on the Steam discussion forum about the game.

After playing the demo and the playtest I'd say play the demo first to get a feel for the game and see the time trial ghosts working more clearly.

Then if you get hooked and want to see more tracks in the game try the playtest. The playtest does not have nearly as many player ghosts at the moment though so the experience is a bit gimped.

Is the playtest over? This demo was fun as fuck. Definitely buying this. Really does feel like a Saturn game you brought home when you were a kid.

It should still be up. I just played it for quite a while last night.

I got into the playtest immediately just by clicking the request button on the Steam page.

Parking Garage Rally Circuit is my arcade precision driving game about rally racing in parking garages across the USA, presented like a Sega Saturn game from ~1998.

Releasing on September 20, 2024 on Steam for Windows and Linux / Steam Deck!

Featuring an all-original soundtrack by The Holophonics, including the song "Another Level" used in this trailer.

I found navigating the garages of burnout paradise to be the worst part of the game, so it’s strange to see a game built around a similar set up but if others enjoyed them then I wish this game well but it’s not for me.

The game is available now on Steam. Picked it up and having fun so far.

It may seem slow and basic on the surface, but it quickly starts to click and you'll realize you can go a lot faster than it initially seems. It's very much a "one more run" type of game, especially with the ghosts and leaderboards.

The boost system in this game is next level: if you become too efficient in the boosting the car speeds up so much you fly off the track. This raises the skill ceiling a lot more than for example the boost system in Mario Kart 8 for you have to learn when to let go of the gas or even use the brake when necessary.

Definitely doesn't look like a saturn game but it does look pretty fun

Going to check it out tomorrow

Did I buy the wrong system to play these types of games? Should I get a Steam deck? I don't get it, every game that looks like it would be perfect on the Switch is only on Steam.
