The proposal passed the Senate six months ago. Governor Tom Wolf has said he’ll sign it if it reaches his desk.

The bill would allow doctors to prescribe medical marijuana for medical conditions including cancer, epilepsy and seizures, ALS, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, post-traumatic stress disorder, HIV/AIDS, chronic pain, diabetes and glaucoma.

Patients with a prescription could obtain medical marijuana in oils, pills and gels, ointments and tinctures. Edible products couldn’t be sold and smoking marijuana wouldn’t be allowed.

Wondering how likely it will to pass.

I think they tried this a year ago, too, didn't they? Never gonna happen.

Edit: Is there a link to what you're quoting?

Well last time it happened Corbett was going to veto anyway so they didn't bother getting it to the house (even though it passed in the senate)

This time they have wolf's support so it's looking a good bit better. It actually making it to the house is a good step

Meanwhile, all of Canada is going to legalize recreational marijuana while the "land of the free (lololol)" struggles state by state.

Aww, why not?

Well I was thinking of the last time but as Misha reminded me:

I don't know, I just don't see this fucking state going for it. On the other hand we're so starved for tax dollars that it might just go through. I'm a pessimist is all.

Well it seems to have decent republican support and it's already just for very specific conditions so that makes it more likely for them to approve. Tbf I could see it passing but not meaning too much in the end since it sounds like they're going to need even more concessions.

At least it's some sort of progress

The House seems to be more accommodating on this issue than they were last year. It wouldn't surprise me if it were to pass.

As someone who lives in a state that has had legal medical marijuana for over 15 years, legal recreational marijuana for a couple years, and decriminalized marijuana for longer than I've been alive, it staggers my mind that some states are still struggling with the notion that cannabis is dangerous. If you're willing to have legal alcohol but prohibit marijuana across the board, your position is wildly hypocritical and not based on a shred of observable evidence in reality. And that's coming from someone who doesn't like pot but does enjoy drinking. Come on Pennsylvania, stop living in the past.

As a Pennsylvanian and as someone with whatever condition I would need to get a prescription, this intrigues me.

Lol, for real.

Yeah, at least it's something.

At least some States in land of the free are usually first, allowing countries to follow. Then the rest of the country catches up.

Certain US states have been early in both things like gay marriage and recreational marijuana
