It refers to the episode of Happy Days where The Fonz literally jumped over a shark. The point at which you can no longer deny a once great televsion show has gone downhill.

Not super funny but pretty cute, I loved the notion of bears and lions engaged in vicious open warfare. Throw in some killer whales, either as mercanaries or a third combatant, and I'd eagerly await the inevitable anime series.

Good comic. I usually like it better though when something is nice for the first two slides, and then something terrible happens in the third. He seemed to have reversed his formula in the past few weeks. Still funny though.
