I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
Would have been a lot funnier (or should I say funny) if in the first two panels it wasn't as obvious what was actually going on and looked like a regular rampage through the forest.

I agree.

Agreed. The blindfold in combination with swinging a stick-like object were dead give aways.

You mean without the blindfold and stick? How would that work?

I didn't see it coming. I suppose because I don't contemplate each panel before moving to the next.

Seriously, people, stop. Just laugh or go "meh" and move on. I'll never see the point of instructing GAF on how you could have done it better beyond self-gratification.

I've read a lot of the older ones and think they're great. So what's gone wrong in the past couple of months?

Ahem. I mean meh.

I believe this is a discussion board.

As for the lack of funny in this particular strip, the punchline is supposed to be that the Mammoth is actually enjoying a fun, wholesome birthday game when you were originally supposed to think it was on some kind of rampage through the forest (or, at least, that's what the punchline should have been). Instead, you can tell from the first panel that he's just having fun....the smile and blindfold are a dead giveaway. It doesn't have that "you think something sinister/wholesome is going on but surprise surprise it's really wholesome/sinister" effect that the best Perry Bible strips have.

If someone doesn't want to read opinions on these comics, they can simply enter the thread,
chuckle, and hit the back button instead of scrolling down to read a bunch of ":lol :lol :lol"s and "Meh"s.

But, to satisfy you, I'll sum up my thoughts on this comic that fall in line with many recent Perry Bibles:

meh

Hey, discussion is fantastic. Who doesn't love discussing things!? I was just inclined after your post to point out the frivolous trend in these threads. I usually don't mind it whatsoever, but your comment in particular made suggestions that would ruin the point of this comic, so I was encouraged to say something.

And if you'd like me to explain what I mean: a "regular rampage through the forest" would not have a blindfold. Without a blindfold, there would be no comic.

Maybe it would have worked if the first two panels would only show the mammoth's lower body, cutting it off just under the blindfold. The mammoth could then run over some kind of smaller animal without giving away that it's actually not his intention.

The joke isnt that hes swinging for a pinata, its that hes about to destroy the forest cause he totally missed it.

Welcome to the past few years.
Actually what I meant to say was "So are people going to start posting Penny Arcade strips in Perry Bible Fellowship threads now?"

... but that moment is gone now.
Carry on!

Not to mention it's an early example of "malls" causing deforestation.

A hamfisted attempt at humor that fails miserably due to the pedantic leanings of the author.

Could have been much better, and even the apologists can't deny that.
