Persona 5 |OT2| Someone must have been helping you go to bed early. Talk!

Finished the game at around 130 hours.

Had to switch to safe mode for the last couple of battles cause I was screwed and didn't want to spend hours upon hours of grinding .

While I really enjoyed the story in the end . What I feel after finishing the game is a huge amount of frustration.

I decided going in blind and not seeking advice for min maxing social links and knowing which ones I should upgrade absolutely . And this ended up completely ruining my run.

I tried my best , i even spent suite some time grinding in mementos while it's mostly useless but in the end I barely maxed out a quarter of the social links, I didn't have bad ass personas and I spend a third of the game being stressed about time management .

In the end I regret going blind and I think telling newcomers to the series to just play the way they feel like it is bad advice as it really soured my experience.

This is more or less how I felt when I finished persona 3 fes. I didn't struggle to finish the game, but not finishing all the social links and stressing about time management made me regret not following a guide to ensure I accomplished everything I wanted to do in one run since these games are so long.

Going into Persona completely blind, as in, no previous experience, can be hilarious. In my first Persona 3 experience I only managed to max three social links, the sports girls, the irritating classmate (oh god) and that fat kid.
The ending with all your deep allies supporting you inside your mind, before you save the world and... :( was absolutely hilarious.

I went in blind for P4G, I literally didn't know anything about the games, and I remember going to the house immediately after school for quite a while because Dojima told MC not to be late. I skipped over a month of activities or something like that. I thought I was making Dojima proud.

My first playthrough of 3 wasn't too bad, I definitely maxed all the female links except for Aigis and quite a few of the others

Well hooooly shit, Spoilers up to the start of the 7th palace:

Before I finished the 6th palace, I had many theories at various points. I notice "pancakes"
back when it happened and immediately suspected Akechi. I kept suspecting him and figured he was the one in the black mask that killed Okumura's Shadow. Then he actually joined and I thought "Hmm, maybe not, as maybe they wouldn't have let me waste money on equipment and skill cards for him. I was definitely wrong there.

I thought Shadow Sae was a rather lame boss. At first I was overthinking it and thought I had to look for some kind of pattern to exploit when the roulette. I went through it 3 or 4 times, saw the obvious glass, but thought the answer was still a pattern. I didn't realize there would be answer choices. I blame my mainline SMT logic. After that, the battle was just easy unless you got screwed over by the roulette, and even then it wasn't that hard. The first try I was an idiot and took the SMT methodology and Sukukaja/Rakukaja when major attack is coming. Second time it was a breeze.

One suspicion I had immediately upon getting to the casino was when they pointed out how close the police station was to the courthouse. I thought that the interrogation with Sae was all in the Metaverse. I was partially correct on that, but did not quite expect the entire plot to fake Joker's death. At first I thought it seemed oddly convenient to blank out the missing memories, but then I remembered that everything was technically Joker remembering the past, so it made more sense with the drugs. The bit with making Akechi kill Joker in the Metaverse was genius.

Out of curiosity, I sold out my friends the first time. I did not expect it to actually end with credits and offer me to start a new game+. It made going through it the second time for real have a better experience because I would see the same death of Joker, but wondered how this was different.

One thing I was unclear on, and maybe this was to be explained later, but are they really going to ignore the fact that the police all know about the Metaverse now? Seems like something they would want to investigate more unless the implication is that Shido has them under his thumb so they don't care.

I was a little disappointed that the SIU Director we had been seeing the whole game remained nameless and died. It was always obvious he wasn't top of the food chain, but I felt like a character with a portrait that was shown so prominently should have been given a bit more.

Will I get to go back and do more confidants/Mementos? Or am I chained to Leblanc and the palace for the rest of the game?

1. Police thing:
The only thing doesn't agents see is a back alley that looks mostly normal, so they don't necessarily know about the Metaverse. The evil police agent may know though.
2. Last paragraph question: Yeah, you still have a month of Confidant and Mementos stuff.

I didn't follow a guide either and while I think I completed more stuff I couldn't manage to finish most party members.

I don't think it's a bad idea looking for some outside information. Some people here have been telling like once every two pages how great the Fortune and Temperance arcana are too help with the daily life segment for example.

A QoL improvement I want in Persona Crimson: L2 now lets you quick change to a persona of your choosing. Would help out a lot with personas that have "auto-" skills that I always wanna have mained but have to keep going into the menu after battles

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
This is the first Persona I've ever played but I actually maxed all the social links by the skin of my teeth. Really surprised I pulled that off since once the game initially opened you up I felt extremely overwhelmed, lol.

Maybe an option to "lock" a Persona so it's always the default one when you enter battle.

You can already do that. Just change your options so that the game doesn't remember your in-battle persona changes. AKA set Persona Memory to Off.

Once you reach the treasure (or if you're within a week from the deadline) you can't do party member SLs until you send the card and beat the boss. No, it doesn't tell you this anywhere, lol.
Ughhhhh... Lame as hell. I'll be ready when the next palace comes.

I'm not quite sure why I used Pyro Jack as the base for this confusion monstrosity, but I probably spent way more money than I needed to to make him.

Maybe I should make an all powerful Jack Frost next.

Pyro Jack is cool, that's why you did it.

This has probably been asked a few times already. But what are some basic tips for a first time Persona player? Any thing I should focus on, build, skip, etc?

I know I should play this game and go through things on my own but some general tips would help. :)

Thanks!

This was my first Persona(played 3 a little on PSP, but not enough to get into the social stuff), went in blind and it never clicked that I should be careful about how to use time until Ann required more Kindness to start her confidante stuff. Was about to restart the playthrough but met the requirement like two or so days later. Finished the game with all skills maxed but not all confidante(maxed about 60% of them). Was far from efficient though(Maxed charm before Devil and Sun confidante, lol), is 5 more lenient than previous Personas in this regard?

- Switch to manual tactic for your team mates. This way they don't spend too much SP (mana)
- Do as much of the palace at once as you can. I generally finish them right away, so I don't have to bother about the deadline.
- If you don't skip battles, you don't really need to grind.
- Having persona in your inventory of confidant will boost that social link when doing activities (iirc)
- Leveling social links of non-party members will give you major benefits (more xp for example).

How often can you do the Network Fusion or public execution? Last time I did one was Thursday night and I wasn't able to do one yesterday or today.

So I'm about to start my slow NG+ run, what guides are people using to max out confidants?

If you maxed out Fortune on your first playthrough, you don't even need a guide. I didn't use a guide at all for my NG+, not even for dialogue choices and I had most of them maxed by October. Besides the two which unlock really late
Tower and Empress
.

Fuse fuse fuse personas. Whilst in the first dungeon you'll be mainly persuading shadows to join you, if you fight a (non-boss) persona you've already fused, you'll have full intel on them and won't need to blindly guess their weaknesses. Oh, and your party has no ice magic in the first dungeon, so you'll need to recruit an ice using shadow (I think Silky might do it).

Focus on social links, as many links rank up your stats as well.

So is the ammount of money that demons throw away tied to your current persona's luck stat? And does it only affect the one caused by confusion or does it affect negotations also?

High luck ensure alot of things like confuse status not missing target, money gain after confusing, critical hit rates etc.

It doesn't affect negotiation tho.

Enjoying the game a lot so far, when i can't play it i'm impatient to get back to it.
Currently in the first palace (supposedly hit the haflway point of that palace according to the party).

I am underleveled according to the average level on the network info and I think that's because I do a hold up for power, items or money when possible so as a result I'm getting less exp? (btw, that mechanic is amazing, wasn't expecting that at all ).

I can understand the meme of not being able to anything at night now though, lol. I..just...want to read this damn book to I want to make one lockpick....please!

Also I don't think I will ever get tired of the victory screen. The style and animation is amazing.

I think that's your problem man.

I was totally new to this whole Persona stuff, didnt use any guides and only maxed out a few Slinks. Me I just played however I wanted and never followed a guide. Stressing about time management is the dumbest thing to do in this game because everyone has the same amount of days! Why would you worry dude?

Not following a guide and discovering everything on my own was an amazing experience, I wouldnt trade that for some guide run at all.

A few tips:

- Fusing Persona every once in a while is important to not be behind the curve.
- Once you get to the Tutorial negotiation, go to the Tutorial menu and read about the different personalities. Each one likes different kind of answers, and when you press L1 you see which one they are.
- Buffs, debuffs and status aliments are your friends. Experiment a bit with the battle system.
- Each Confidant (people you can hang out) has an Arcana (Tarot Card) assigned. Having a Persona in your rooster that matches the Confidant Arcana is quite important.
- Keep Social Stats in mind, since they're important and unlock characters. For Charm go to the Bath in your home District on Mondays and Thursdays, for Guts there is the Big Bang Burger challenge, for Proficiency you can craft tools, for Knowledge study in rainy days at Dinner and for Kindness work in the Flower Shop. There is a plant in your bedroom, you can give it fertiliser once every 2 weeks for a free boost of Kindness too. The fertiliser in Shinjuku is better than the one in the Flower Shop in Shibuya.
- Press Select / Touch Pad to see what people pick in the school questions, I'd say it's more important to answer correctly that not cheating.
- The Fortune and Temperance arcana Confidants have some perks that makes times management easier.
- Watching films (only for the first time) grants a big star boost. Try to always have an unread book at hand too. You can get some for free at the library.
- Don't follow a guide or worry about choosing the correct option when talking to people. Enjoy the ride. With these tips you should be able to have an efficient playthrough anyway.

Probably should've asked this a lot sooner but, do confidant points stack or is the number reset once a character moves up a rank?

I don't think it's been explicitly stated by the devs, but there was a discussion about it last week and everyone agreed that it stacks.

I've got to admit, I wasn't expecting too much from the OST, I like 4's enough but I never really elevated it above good.
5 has much more funk to it going on and that I dig, a last nice surprise.

I went to Persona 4 blind and only maxed about 4 social links, if that lol. Couldn't even start Naoto's till it was too late!

I never even found the part time jobs so I missed entire characters, I got the art book and was like "who are these people?!"

It's easy to miss if you don't pay attention to those morning sequences to school. That's where they reference a lot of activities.

Part time jobs are done by reading the adverts in the shibuya underground walkway and responding to the offers. And there is also the part time job in the Shinjuku bar Crossroads.

You only unlock the Sun confidant by working at the beef bowl shop, so any other characters you missed are from something else. Maybe the tower, fortune or star confidant.

That reminds me, what is the quest people kept saying you need to work twice at the shop for? I worked there 3 times before I went to beef bowl and haven't heard it mentioned again
