Life took a toll on him eh?
Christ. Peej looks ancient
There's no behind the scenes discs at all now? Seriously?I have both the hobbit and lord of the rings On 4k the hobbit trilogy has 1 disk for each cut,and lord of the rings has 3,2 for the extended cuts They have no extras at all.
No there’s plans to release another bigger set next yr with more extras .There's no behind the scenes discs at all now? Seriously?
Of course they'd do that. You can only milk nerds so much!No there’s plans to release another bigger set next yr with more extras .

Yawn. Wake me up when it has all the DVD content from the Extended Editions DVD. Those were god tier. I learned so much about film making from those. You could teach a film unit with them.
Whatever man, gimme dat sweet 4k Dead Alive/Braindead and Bad Taste remaster.
Hearing this since probably 10-15 years. I won't get my hopes up we'll see it for another 10 years. Those are coming. They're doing a boxed set of them in 4K. It's Braindead, Bad Taste, and Meet the Feebles.

I'm just hope he is still in the mood. Don't know what his future projects are and what WB has planned for him. But maybe the lockdowns and such comes to fruition for once.Peter Jackson Returns to His “Naughty Years” With Restoration of Gory Early Films
Peter Jackson is planning a re-release of his early films such as 'Bad Taste' to 'Braindead', intending on using his Weta Digital wizardry to restore his no-budget, blood-soaked early work.www.hollywoodreporter.com

Kind of glad I skipped these on blu-ray. I may pick up the LOTR someday. I certainly don't need The Hobbit in 4k, especially if they still don't have a high frame rate version.
Actually a bit disappointed that they didn't redo any of the CG, a lot of that stuff REALLY doesn't hold up anymore. But maybe the retouching will be good enough.
Trailers are out.
Looking good. No idea what magic they pulled, but some of the cgi looks a lot better.
Ah, ok. Looks really good, that's for sure. That's due to the modern color grading tech.
This so much - even when i first saw return of the king some of the vfx shots were brutal! They look like total ass now. Its a shame because theyre some really nice vfx so its odd that just a couple got the shit end of the stick.
are people itt unironically complaining that he's not pulling a george lucas and not pointlessly redoing cgi
Is it the extended versions?
Fellowship is an all time movie for me. Top 5 I'd say. They rest are good but nothing touches FOTR. I'll take any excuse to rewatch
Has anybody here seen the movies in 4k? What's your honest opinion about the image quality? Because judging by trailers and static screencaps they look very 1k to me : /
I need to say I have the bluray edition of the trilogy, and except Fellowship of the Ring, that I believe it was remastered at the time for the bluray edition, the other two look like a upscale DVD. Same as the Alien Quadrilogy, where the best looking one is the first movie because it was remastered.
So, even I love the films, today I watched these trailers and they looked (for me) more or less as a normal bluray. Better than the original bluray edition but not as real 4k.
YouTube is fooling me or what we can see in the trailers is the real image quality? I saw the trailers in a LG CX, by the way.
Redoing the CGI is a never ending rabbithole, see Lucas' attempts at redoing the OT for example.Actually a bit disappointed that they didn't redo any of the CG, a lot of that stuff REALLY doesn't hold up anymore. But maybe the retouching will be good enough.
I know they did that, but my question is how it looks when you see the result. Because trailers doesn't look like as, for example, Alien 1 or Psychosis remastered, where you can see easily the improve.WETA rescanned the entire negative in 4K. They also rescanned all of the VFX shots in 4K and upscaled the ones that were in 2K. From there they created a new 4K Digital Intermediate.
I don't know what you want them to do other than travel back in time and re-film the movies with modern 6K cameras or something. Hell back then they wanted to do it all in 4K but it would cost too much and at the time it wasn't possible to do in New Zealand.
Yes? The CGI from LoTR is low rez. Have you ever seen Jurassic Park in 4k? It looks super weird when the CGI creatures obviously have lower resolution that the rest of the picture.are people itt unironically complaining that he's not pulling a george lucas and not pointlessly redoing cgi
