You know what, that's exactly what I think of Killzone.

The difference being, of course, that's an apt description of Killzone, a game hobbled by pressure on Guerilla to push the game out the door in an unfinished state. Fable, like Black/White before it, is a a game that fell well short of expectations -- not because it was rushed, but because PM has always made promises that he is incapable of fulfilling.

Indeed, and in the case of Fable, and come to think of it Black on White, a lot of the overhype came from Peter himself.

The man's imagination is admirable, but there comes a time when one must come to terms with the futility of fitting the grandest of ideas into the confines of technically constrained platforms; PM's ideas are simply not achievable on present-day technology.

Fable was a great game. I bought it after I'd heard the negative hype so I had neutral expectations. it had its flaws but I still enjoyed it immensely, and hope they make Fable 2. Xbox 2 should be powerful enough to deliver everything Lionhead had planned.

It's not about his games really its about what he's done for the british gaming industry, supporting all the government schemes like that UK booth at E3 and all that Jazz, say what you will about the games but he has brought a hell of a lot of money into the UK economy over the years, thats what this honour is for. Hell, the man got Jeff Minter a job (briefly)! He should have been knighted.
