Peter Molyneux Is Back! - Announces New Game "Masters of Albion" at Gamescom

I bet you haven't even played any of his games.

It's pretty annoying seeing the typical "bandwagon haters" spouting the oh so tiresome "Peter Molyneux is a liar" meme, which used to be super popular a long time ago.

All you ignorat haters should show some respect towards Mr. Molyneux. His legacy is impressive, and he's still one of the best video game designers ever. The whole overblown Fable marketing incident decades ago will never change this fact.
Considering the fact that I have pretty much all of the Bullfrog games on floppy disk, i will bet you are wrong.

Well for starters, this game looks awful. Also, you should be aware it's based on a failed mobile NFT game. Hate to rain on your parade, buuuuut just give up, man. Long gone are the days of good games from Molyneux.

Was always a fan of Molyneux for his ambition and creativity. Even if his games ended up coming short of his promisses i enjoyed alot of his games, like Populous, Black & White and Fable. I even tried 2 of his mobile games but thats when he lost me. This new game would be something special 20 years ago, now just looks like a mobile game.

Sometimes wanting to create something different and unique at all costs can send you down the wrong path. That's the vibe I'm getting from this game. Doesn't strike me as something I would want to play TBH, but it does look different. Of course this is only a 2 min. video so who knows, it still might turn out decent.

Don't care about his shitty overpromising games, I just really like the guy and want to see him make games until the day he dies. The industry needs characters like him.

Looks a bit stiff, but seems like a pretty nice concept to me. I'm wishlisting it with fingers crossed.

Always interesting to see how much hate he gets, which is completely undeserved imo, I get that the younger (and I guess not so young these days) generation don't really understand how much of a pioneer he was back during the day, he defined the god genre, and headed up Bullfrog who released hit after hit of highly original IP, even Lionhead had a solid track record until Microsoft screwed them over with making Kinect titles then pulling the plug (the asshats!)

It's been 20 years and nobody has come close to replicating Dungeon Keeper, The Movies or Black and White, which is fucking nuts when you think that every single successfully genre has had 20 clones and copycats over the years, so the sort of stuff he put out wasn't easy to design to develop.

The problem since then seems to be he's not lost any of his ambition but has lost 90% of his game budget, so the last decade he's hyped up stuff which ends up to be a minimal viable product or something that could be put together on a budget. I love the look of this, but feel it's going to be the same.

It's a shame, if I was an investor I'd chuck money at the guy as he's proven he can deliver if given the right resources.

For a long time, he was very lucky to be surrounded by very talented people, that managed to implement many of his ideas.
Although there were several of his ideas that resulted in brilliant games, there were also many ideas that were downright stupid.
I remember interviews with people that worked with him, were they were saying they were always afraid of what he was going to say next.

This guy was heading to be one of the top guys in Xbox but decided to leave to setup a garbage game studio 😅 that's how stupid he is.

I'm not sure why they keep giving this has been money.
Well he has been in the industry since the late 80's and has had far more success than failures.

Also this is clearly not a triple A title so the amount of money is far less, he said its self funded.

Looks okay to me, his prior title Black and White mixed with a bit of Orc's vs Humans vibe.

After all the shit he pulled with curiosity where once again he promised stuff he never delivered on and ripped off the winner I wouldn't touch anything scammyneux shits out, the guy is a pathological liar, he really is the gaming version of a snake oil salesman.

Funny watching people Stan for him because he made some barely mid games in the 80's/90's

Like many, I have a soft spot for Bullfrog sims, Theme Hospital and Dungeon Keeper being some of my fav games, but like many, I've also become disilusioned by the man.

I don't mind the sub-par graphics of what looks like a very, very early build. I'm interested because it looks like a return to form, in both gameplay and silly tone. I'll wait and see if the game actually delivers, but not getting hyped or anything.

"Strategy behind every creation" means there will be a Meta in every damn thing.

Once you find a better sandwich, you'll never want to create the old one again.

Eh, that's kind of revisionist. He made excellent and pioneering games in the late 80s through 90s. Even if some of them didn't deliver what he promised, they were still genre defining at the time.

The issue is that after first Fable, give or take, he just kept digging and was way over his head.

I didn't even realize that he basically had nothing to do with actually developing Fable. He was essentially just the publisher. He helped fund it, but it was the brainchild of a whole different studio that eventually got absorbed into Peter's.

This guy will always be a legend to me. Maybe you had to be there.
Don't worry, I was there, I'm 47.. I played my share of Populous and Syndicate, no worries but after Black & White, it went downhill from my perspective. A bit like Richard Garriot.
