Phantom Dust: Behind the Scenes

Well, I guess Team Breakout is now working with Mistwalker, it's been mentionned in interviews that both guys would work together. It should also give a very nice technological head start to these projects since Team Breakout has been working on a RPG since the end of Magatama's dev.
As for Q/GR, I have no idea how this will work out. There is no mention of them joining forces with MGS Japan for development IIRC.
Okay, that makes sense. I'd guess that Q/GR would need assistance though considering both are like 20 man teams (and both are already working on games for other platforms). Maybe GR can get it done with minimal help though, Genji looks pretty great on PS2.

Also, to round up MGS Japan's Xbox efforts...

Internal R&D
-Magatama (Team Breakout) 2003
-Phantom Dust (Team Tree) 2004

External/Contracted R&D
-Blinx: The Time Sweeper (Artoon) 2002
-Blinx 2: Masters of Time & Space (Artoon) 2004
-Dinosaur Hunting (Scarab) 2003
-Fishing Live Online (Opus) canceled
-Jockey's Road (Progress Software) 2002
-Kakuto Chojin (Dream Factory) 2002
-Maximum Chase (Genki) 2002
-N.U.D.E. Natural Ultimate Digital Experiment (Red Entertianment) 2003
-Outrun 2 (Sega-AM2/Sumo Digital) 2004
-Phantasy Star Online Episode I&II (Sonic Team) 2002
-Shenmue II (Sega-AM2) 2002
-Sneakers (MediaVision) 2002
-The Wild Rings (Anchor) 2003
-True Fantasy Live Online (Level 5) canceled

...is all that correct then?

Looks like your list is complete. MGS really signed for anything from Japan back in Ed Fries day, hopefully now they are actually thinking a bit before handing $$$ to people there. The fact that at least some games will be codevelopped is a good sign hopefully.
Still, I can't help to think that Fishing Live Online could have been a very cool "game" for people who like to chat with friends on Xbox Live (like me).

First of all - Ryan, Che - this is AWESOME. I would love to see more of this kind of stuff on 1UP. Nice work!

Second - Che, why does it always say "Tokyo, OU" on 1UP blogs? Where is this mysterious OU place and how did I wind up here?

Hey John, maybe you should read 1UP... because we DO have stuff like this at least once a week. :)

God of War was the spotlight feature last week.

Great work man, love the new blog... :) Heck, I'm gonna comment on him, asking if he would make it possible to bring the game to European shores... We always get the shaft unfortunately.... :(

Is there an archive page somewhere that lists all the developer blogs on the site? I seriously want to read each and every one. I saw the one for Fight Night (very cool), but I'm not really interested in that game all that much so it didn't excite me the way this Phantom Dust one did. God of War, now that's a game I'd like to read about... and so I shall!

Dave Smith's NFS Underground Rivals feature was a good read, too. I'd love to read blogs from some of those Team Fusion guys...

Anyway, again, nice work!

Ryan -- I can't wait to meet this guy. :)
