Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney is AWESOME

boutrosinit

Street Fighter IV World Champion
Played it yesterday at the Nintendo Summer Xmas bash.

What a fucking riot.

The bit I played was where a witness gave a statement. You have to listen to his statement, then go through it to find the contradiction! Then you accuse him of lying!

It's BRILLIANT. I can't fucking wait for this one.

Yeah, this game is going to rock

I just hope there's a lot of cases to solve and they all take some time to crack. I'll be bummed if you can wrap the game up in like three hours.

I am getting pretty sick of Law n Order and CSI. I hope the Japanese spin on court cases is different from said shows.

^ :lol wow you're fast!

I know the japanese version can be played in English, but does anyone know if the American version will have an option to play in Japanese, like Astroboy?

I really want to be able to practice my Japanese while playing this game, but I'd like to avoid importing so I can support the American realease, and save ten bucks :(

Sounds like that interlude on Dantooine in KOTOR, where you have to figure out which person committed a murder.

This game is one of the best games on the GBA in Japan (known as Gyakuten Saiban of course), and I must admit it is one of THE games that I will keep forever on my GBA. Simply the best.

Is it coming out in Europe then?

Oh man, if Nintendo can get the cool kooky DS games like this and the surgery thing out over here i might actually pick up a DS.

You know, it's really been coming to my attention that the Japanese are doing great things with the DS. I know Gyakuten Saiben is already a series and whatnot, I'm just talking in general. Japanese developers have really been putting out amazing high-quality stuff on the DS, while western developers, not so much...I hope western developers can catch on soon as well.

Man, the Japanese one comes out a month earlier? So much for prioritizing the US market.

I guess I'll import, then. I can't fucking wait for this.

Yeah, I played the demo of this at E3 and loved it. I'm torn between ordering now because it'd be around $70 for the Japanese version with the soundtrack and cell phone strap & stylus or $30 for the english game/manual & stylus - http://www.capcom.com/xpml/game.xpml?gameid=800038

I went to the head of Capcom Japan's panel at the GDC and met him, a guy from CESA and the head of Capcom USA. I made a comment in e-mail to the Capcom USA person how the US never gets the cool preorder bonuses that Japan has and really wanted to import Gyakuten Saiban because of it. Maybe someone listened to that e-mail and that's why they're offering some with the preorders. :)

Man, so much great DS stuff right now - Advance Wars DS, Ouendan and in a few weeks Gyakuten Saiban DS. I think that surgery game and Popolocrois PSP come out in October too (I hope they fix that scrolling blur, though). Right now my DS is getting a lot of love with all this great stuff coming out. (Been using it mainly for GBA stuff)

Priz, the game has an English option in the Japanese version. If you can afford it and would like all those neat extras, the language barrier isn't a reason to hem and haw this time. :P

That e-mail was weeks before John let us in on the english option. Now it's just a money issue, but that might not even be the case as Brett might be heading back from Tokyo after it's released. If he's in Japan when it's released, then I'll just have him buy it for me and it probably won't cost me anything, but if he's heading back here before it's released, then it's a $30 vs. $70 thing. The only differences interesting me being an english manual and a copy of the soundtrack.

*bump*

Is it out in Japan yet? Play-Asia seems to be shipping copies already. I've ordered the limited edition which is apprently out on the 15th (and already sold out @ P-A!) so hopefully I'll have mine by Friday. :)

In the meantime, we need impressions!

God I love this man.

Edit:Oh this is old. This game does sound damn nice though. We're so use to traditional style games that use the traditional controls that only the open-minded will find ideas like this and Oeuanden (sp?) intriguing enough to give a chance.

Hey cocklads

Has it been confirmed there's an English language switch in the Japanese one? Cos I am so buying it on Thursday if there is one.

Translator is Alex O Smith of Vagrant Story fame btw.

I'm almost positive there is an English option.

So it's out thursday? Must buy this. :) I really want to get a GBA Micro tomorrow, but I may have to pass on it for now as I'd rather get this and GITS SAC for the PSP first.

That's all assuming I can walk to the store, of course. Had a motor scooter accident saturday night and haven't been able to walk since. :( I need some new games to take my mind off it.

it turns out i don't have one of those either, and the only thing i can say in japanese is "hello girl, tentacle rape, isn't it?"

ok that's a lie i can't say anything in japanese :(
