Very impressed by his views on the gaming world, when they announced the Scorpio last year I quickly sold my OG Xbox One, I've been waiting for a while for this release and now I can finnaly have it, I love the idea of having a premium console and one for the family. I only hope the Xbox library grows, no doubt Sony and Nintendo will rain supreme this holiday season, just knowing that Xbox can sell great numbers satisfies me, I've had a PS4 pro since Day one, Switch has been impossible to get ahold!

Halo 5 will be 1080p at all times due to the extra power running it at its maximum dynamic resolution. Not 4K but an improvement even if they don't patch it for 4K.

Sony better not be buying up parity lol. MS was accused of it at the start of the gen and it never happened, hopefully it doesn't now. 3rd parties themselves shouldn't sign those deals either, the usual exclusivity stuff is more than enough.

Not really a clear answer on truly new exclusives. I'm afraid it's going to be like that for a long time until at least next E3 probably.

Hopefully that part about 343 working with X and their past games means that *MCC and Halo 5 will be getting that 4k treatment.

He said 343 was assessing xbonex capabilities not only for new games but also past releases, and that soon they would be able to talk about how they plan to update their games.

Sure they have a commanding lead, but paying to gimp X1X games could only help them further.
Hopefully it's nonsense and this Gamespot guy is talking poop. It would be terrible of Sony to do that and perhaps even worse for 3rd parties to accept the bribe.

phil just can't win it seems. now that he is bringing the big guns (gears/halo/forza/crackdown) to pc people want true exclusives on xbox, before they were wanting ms to support pc. people wanted top of the line specs in xbox scorpio so he gave u that, now everyone complaining about the price.

From his interview he said he really doesn't care, as long as you are in their ecosystem playing. A PC gamer is as good a customer as an Xbox gamer to them
Who is the British conspiracy nut proclaiming that's Destiny 2 can run at 60 fps on XOX according to the "technical specifications" and is only 30 fps because of a marketing deal?

I'd say prior 343 games getting patched is all but assured (but I'm sitting over here pouting about Sunset Overdrive).

Amazing interview, great questions by the GS hosts especially about PS4 Pro parity and 3rd parties utilizing all that powah. Phil answers were encouraging, and he doesnt hide the obvious criticism thrown at him. Loved it.

Even though I'm still wary about the new console (pricing, messaging), Phil always talks a good game. He certainly always seems laid back and has a vision. Whether this will all gel in the long term is a tough question (first party will still be critical), but he makes a lot of valid points about the competition, industry at large, etc.

Hearing the way he talks about first party, they are not for me anymore, if they show half the desire they do with bringing backwards compatibility , controllers and features like that to their own gaming line up I would have no doubt it would be great for us all, healthy competition is good, not to be confused with console war bullshit.
The narrative is already E3 2018, it was like that last year too. It feels like he will be spouting the same stuff for years to come and the "wait till" routine will go on and on.

Phil basically says all the right things here, but concerning his view on the competition it feels like his "we don't need others to fail in order for us to succeed" is a bit at odds with the quite big focus from them on securing exclusivity, either timed or completely. Exclusivity is, unless it's first-party or games that could never exist as a multiplatform game (or at all without some deal), in its very core a way of making your proposition look better by making your competition's look worse.

It was a good interview, and Phil said a lot of good things, but that Gamespot co-host saying so definitively that Sony paid to keep the Xbox One X from having 60 FPS was incredibly jarring. Has there been any evidence at all to support that?
Well the former head of Xbox once said when he was leaving Phil was one of the few employees ready to leave with him. He is definitely far better for MS and gaming than Mattrick was for sure.
Though very disappointed with MS. Expensive console, no real first party promises. I mean they didn't want to moneyhat third party to create amazing first party. But I don't see why Kameo can't be what Horizon Zero Dawn was for Sony. Where is the Conker sequel? Even Banjo. Crackdown 3 was very uninteresting.
Some people want MS games on PC. Some people want more Xbox exclusives.
Different people want different things.

It takes time to develope first party games. I believe they're coming but all in due time. Would you rather rushed poor first party games or wel polished new ip's? I'll wait. I have no doubt they have heard customer complaints and are trying to correct them.
It's basically a "LOL Minecraft" deflection. Doesn't help that you can play Minecraft on the system you're already playing it on.

Yep. It definitely sounds it won't just be Halo 5 but very likely also MCC getting attention. Well great because I would love to replay Halo 4 in 4K.
Interesting that they didn't just confirm it in the list yet, sounds like they want to make it a big announcement or something. Can't wait.
